An improvement still work in action.

Great stay. Room recently renovated. Great location. Amenities all close by.

No details about WiFi in the room or how to check out. Went to hand in key in the morning - premises was locked up - so just had to leave the key in the room. Room was dated, but reasonably clean

Did not do breakfast nobody on desk tilll 9am

Staff were so friendly they made me feel very welcome! Located right in the center of town so has easy access to everything.

The room I had was less than basic accommodation. Active molds on the ceiling and the front desk/bar staff treated me like an inconvenience instead of a patron. While using the Wi-Fi they cut off the lights and unplugged the hotspot without warning. I had to ask multiple times for simple things like another towel after being out all day. I left a day earlier than booked because it was so bad.No breakfast as advertised. Zero stars.

Bed wasn't very comfortable. Fault with toilet was fixed quickly

I stayed here for a night with my son rather than Bury st Ed and it was an excellent experience. The Hotel has a real charm and character. The rooms are clean. The decor maybe tired and sort of 90s chic. However the number 1 thing for us here was the fantastic staff .From the friendly lady at front of house who checked us in and explained things. The fantastic lady at the bar who showed us local eating choices and breakfast places . It was a real delight to stay here. Good staff make all the difference. I'd stay here again.

Just so out the way

Pleasant staff, quiet location with parking. Plenty of coffee and sugar in the room. Bed was somewhat more tired than me !

The rooms are what you expect in a popular pub and were fine. The car park is a good size and useful for motorcyclists.

Room and bathroom upgrades were absolutely amazing for such an old building. Really Enjoyed the stay

I didn't stay because it was the wrong night it should have been Friday night

Our room was basic but had the essentials and was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was not available for our stay (a tempory issue we were warned about) but there were good restaurants and cafés within a few minutes walk. The rooms are attached to, but separate from, the pub which meant we had the convenience without the noise. The staff were lovely and helpful.

I phoned The Bell to find out exactly where they were. Asked if they served evening meal and breakfast. Said yes. When i got there told they wasn’t.

The only negative I have is the Shower, the temperature never got above luke warm and the water pressure very poor, not much above a trickle. My room was number 17

Pleasant and helpful staff. Plenty of free parking and located centrally in town. Great price and value for money. Recommend for a informal, low cost stay in a historic building.

Don’t waste your money.
Rooms were so dated. Dirty, mouldy and smelt funny.
When staff were told they were very confrontational and said that the bed and redecorating had been done that day (convenient ay).
We quickly checked out and booked another hotel.
When asking for a refund there response was no as there is nothing wrong with the rooms! I beg to differ!
Dread to think what the cleanliness of the kitchen is like looking at the rooms.
They also said it’s £75 a night what do you expect. At least somewhere habitable
Overall. Not a great experience and their customer service skills were dier as well!

The bed was perfect. The shower however did not work at al. The stay was fine for our purpose. It was vey noisy.

A good, economical stay. Very friendly and helpful staff. Not easy finding someone for check in and check out. I was blocked at the car park, so when hotel is full, there may not be enough parking for all guests. Very clean, but my room was a little tired. Overall a good stay.

Room was a lovely size. Staff very helpful particularly with my disabled son.
Was just a little warm in the room, but the staff did provide a fan which helped.

Stayed here for 3 nights as we met up up with relations who live in Bury St Edmunds. Staff here were friendly and helpful. Bed was clean and comfortable, bathroom was clean & shower was fine. We had food one night and it was nice enough. Place needed a bit of updating. We paid £65 a night for room only so I would say it wasn't expensive.

Great stay. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good food.
Thank you.

A bit dated but clean, it is what I would expect at this price point. My only criticism is the low water pressure on the shower, but it was usable.

Showers are pitiful/ nearly useless Rooms are very dated and tired. All sorts of noise throughout the night.

The bed was absolutely awful the shower was basically none existent and was dripping all night long by far my worst ever hotel yet

Shower was new but problems with the plumbing in the build meant that it was usually cold. At times i had no running cold water at all. Checked out after 2 nights into a 4 night stay

We have been familiar with the Bell for a number of years having lived in the community in the past. These are fairly new owners who are trying to upgrade services and safety within the constants of listed buildings. While this a friendly atmosphere it should be noted the traveler who stays should be prepared for old world charm and basic amenities although TV and wify are available there are stairs only between floor and not a place for handicap or the unfit It is close to transportation, local walks, and friendly local cafes. It was more than adequate for our needs visiting family and friends and getting to nearby towns by bus and reconnecting with familiar places,

It suited our need for a convenient 2 night stay.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was warm, clean and had everything we needed. It was also priced appropriately.
The twin beds were a little springy but we still slept well.
We would go back there!

I arrived at the hotel around 6.30pm. Sat in bed and working until 10.45 when I decided to turn in. That’s when I found the bugs in the bed, and not just one but several. I complained to the on duty manager who confirmed it. He was very apologetic and offered another room but the bathroom wasn’t habitable.

Great stay. Rooms traditional. Staff fantastic and helpful. Will stay again in the New Year!

Good stay, good friendly staff! The mattress probably needs replacing but the bedding was nice and clean. Adjusting the shower water temp was not easy but after some time it was ok. Overall, not a luxury type of hotel but for the money I would stay short term again!

A quaint hotel/pub service. Room was a bed and they even had an electric heater. A bit of a misunderstanding at checkout. The checkout desk was closed and the rooms are not connected to the main building. Several minutes of heavy pounding finally got someone awake so we could get our large baggage out of office. Staff is very friendly.

The staff were all very friendly. The room was spacious and clean the window had a cracked pane of glass. Unfortunately the bed was very uncomfortable a new mattress is needed.
