The place needs some proper TLC, TV is so out dated and many channels impossible to watch due to bad picture quality. Although breakfast runs until 11am, after 10am they were out of quite a few things that were not topped up. It used to be one of my favourite hotels, and it’s sad to see its quality dipping.

Trying to find this hotel at night was impossible there is no clear signage so ended up driving past three times. The reception staff were rude and didn’t feel welcomed at all. The breakfast was ok and to be fair the staff members at breakfast and check out were pleasant. Also hate when you don’t have a iron in the room!

I liked the spacy rooms and the architecture of the hotel. I did not like that the breakfast did not offer gluten-free, dairy-free and simple things like plain oats.

The hotel has a 4 Star rating. I‘m not sure what helped them to get there. I was only able to interact with the staff at the reception. The service included an absolute bare minimum of friendliness. The rest of the staff of the hotel simply ignored us. Even a good morning wasnt reciprocated. The staff at the restaurant during the breakfast buffet also just ignored the guest. Every attempt to ask something was responded by a silent walking away. The room had a 15 year old TV, which didnt work. The breakfast buffet was also nowhere close to a 4 Star hotel. No jams or butter for the breads. No fruits. Only good thing there was the hot water for the tea. There also every second mug was dirty.

There is no heating, staff offered to downgrade my room but keep the same price of what i originally paid, told us to leave if we were not happy regarding their heating issue but not offered a refund. Its winter, when you book with a hotel you want to be comfortable but it was a bad experience and i had to leave the hotel and stay somewhere else. The staff were not helpful. Definitely would recommend to stay away from this hotel during the cold weather, there are not enough blankets that would keep you warm in that place! Expedia tried their best to help but the hotel refused to refund even after leaving the hotel once you check in!

I had a nice stay at Rixwell Elefant. Before arrival I had emailed the hotel inquiring about a specific room which I was happy to get. Any question I had they could help with. The bed was unfortunately a bit broken, so I didn't sleep that well. Room 204.

Someone opened our room door in the morning before 9 am. We think it was a cleaner, but we had not put the cleaning sign in the door, so we woke up to this, which wasn’t a nice surprise.

The hotel is located out of the city center but close to bus stops which make it easy to reach both citycenter and the Riga airport. Its breakfast was not the most fancy and it was just OK. Based on our stay experience at other 4-stars hotels, for a 4-stars hotel, a better breakfast with more variety was expected. Receptionists were not friendly while personals in the restaurant as well as cleaning staff were nice and friendly. Hotel has two wings and they are located almost like V-shape model. This cause rooms has a close view to each other and if your privacy matter, you should use black-out curtains, even during the day.

Fantastic new and well-kept hotel! Location next to a busy ready, but keeping the windows closed blocks all road noise. Just beware that the black-out curtains are not so black-out, which might cause issues during the early morning sun for people with light sleep. Possibility of free parking on the streets next to the hotel (upon availability).

We had the superior room with a double bed. I had the hotel know beforehand that we are on our honeymoon - no acknowledgement from the hotel. The room was big and quiet, the bed was ok, and the TV on the wall was ridiculously small. Breakfast was way too crowded and too little staffed. All things were out at some point (even ketchup). The quality of the food was subpar, nothing was prepared at the hotel, just heated stuff (like chicken nuggets) almost nothing fresh, the little fruit they had were unripe. Coffee from automat (of course), all options tasted the same. The layout was illogical causing people to run into each other. What I missed the most was decent bread, just plain white toast was offered. What bugged my newlywed wife the most, was that the smoking area (or ashtray) was placed in the front of the front entrance, there was no way of getting in without walking through the tobacco smoke.

The property was chosen because it is walking distance to the US Embassy. The restaurant did not serve my son and I for dinner. There was nothing else near except CircleK!!!! The restaurant was not busy, 2 other sets of people but one set was 8 people. Another table of 3 sat after us and was server!!!! The table of 8 sat after us!!!! Finally after 25 min the waiter came and told us they ran out of things and it would be best to go someplace else. I AM A SEASONED TRAVELER AND NEVER HAVE EVEN HEARD OF THIS BEFORE. You can contact me for more details of this saga. Thankfully we were there just 1 night.
