The revelation was the roof terrace restaurant and cocktail bar on the 10th floor. Fabulously cooked Indian menu, good cocktails and an eagle that swooped around the top of the building in search of pigeon.

It’s a comfortable stay , Heritage appeal , The bell boy Raja is incredibly helpful , Room was a bit small , but given the historical nature it’s bearable ,Only slight discomfort is the noisy window ac , Rest it’s a fantastic stay , not to forget right in front of the iconic New market

We were given a different room than what we paid for. After complaining to Hotels.com they called and offered to show us the correct room. Hallways are dirty, linen not the nicest, towels stained. Very little hot water but typical for India. Probably a nice hotel in the day. Great location across from the New Market. Cleaning staff and front door staff were excellent and very helpful. Rooftop bar/restaurant was very nice.

It was simply a horrible experience staying in Lindsay. I will never stay there again nor i will recommend someone. Support staffs were good and cordial. Even plates were using during breakfast , were so old no can imagine unless you experience thru it. Furniture were all broken down. Amenities were good.

A bad experience. Service was rude and unhelpful. Room was much smaller than the photos showed. Very noisy part of town - not recommended at all for guests looking for a relaxed holiday. When we said that we would move out, the hotel refused to give any refund - we lost 11 days of paid stay. Maybe okay for somebody on a business trip in that area - book only for one day first and then see how it goes.

I think there is a kind of scam going on - real (1) to (5) below - this is based on my experience.
(1) The description and photos are not the room that is given to you. When you say it to the receptionist, they argue and blame it on the platform (HOTELS.COM), However, I think Hotels.com cannot be blamed (based on my experience in several countries);
(2) The receptionist will call the hotel manager to show that they are trying to help the customer, but it is a charade. The manager will say, you can let the customer go by entering "no show". Obviously, this means you will lose some money as they flag you as "no show" - your card details are already with Hotels.com (this is the reason that I stayed in the hotel, rather than walkout);
(3) After manager disconnects, an additional choice is offered - pay 35-40% for the room you thought you booked (i.e., same description and the one you see in the photo). It appears that Lindsay has one Junior Suite (INR5,500+ GST). With that room rate, you could get a better room at a different hotel. A hotel that is is clean and not dated (with Lindsay, the theme of the hotel is nostalgia, but one may have both nostalgia and the clean rooms and facilities).
(4) I understood this to be a scam, since the receptionist asked me to check the room "repeatedly" before paying, First I thought he was being polite, but then it occurred to me that this is happening regularly (i.e., misleading customers) and they anyway know at that point guest cannot leave

The room was booked for 2 adults and paid accordingly, where my friend was local citizen who was supposed to stay with me. But they didn’t allow my friend to stay with me. So, I’ve checked out at midnight at booked another hotel through booking.com. It was a waste of money for me. Hotels.com should investigate this issue and should not harass any guest in future. We are paying for comfort, not to waste our money.

1st stayed here in 2016 and as I liked it then, I would stay here again in 2018. What a regret. No smiles, no nice customer service and I even had the restaurant manager yell at me. Lobby staff dont know whats going on. The hotel is getting old and tired and could so with a face lift. Bed was as hard as nails. Glad I was only there for 1 night.

Ive booked for Deluxe Room with king size bed for ourself. Ive sent one colleague to them before I arrive to confirm that.They confirmed that to my colleague. But when I reached the, they gave me to single bed. And those beds cant be joined. My 2 years old daughter slept in the middle without comfort. Next day they have us double bed. Toilet amenities were not adequate. In breakfast they dont offer only egg! Their only positive thing is their location.

Hotel needs new floor coverings throughout. Hot water good. Internet good. Breakfast good. Could improve by providing/finding taxi drivers who are not crooks (rare in Calcutta).

I will never book with Expedia.com again. You made an error and put only one person in a double deluxe room. I had to pay for my child almost AU$29 per night in a double bed room. Hotel is OK but the fee charged is not good. Expedia made a mistake and I had to pay extra $29 per night.

Pros: The location of this hotel is very good in terms of shopping. Just a narrow street in between hotel and new market. Breakfast is quite good. Rooftop bar & restaurant is also good.Cons: Rooms are pretty small in terms of the amount you are paying for the room. Outside of front gate is always dirty and full of footpath shops. Staffs are quite unfriendly.

Opposite New Market in the centre of Kolkata but quiet enough. We took a Junior Suite, which was quite spaceous. The hotel is an older style place that has atmosphere. The trade off are rooms that are a bit tired. If you enjoy being in the lively centre this is a good place to stay.

Excellent helpful and courteous staff. Although entry is not too great as it is off the street the location is good for those who want to explore and see Kolkata with the Indian Muesuem , Park Street , Victoria Memorial very close. Opposite New Market. Useful for shoppers .

+s: 5 min walk from the Indian Museum (A must see!) Nice staff. Appealing rooftop bar/restaurant. Safe. Fast elevator. Basic amenities provided. Bottles water provided in room. Buffet breakfast offered Indian & British options. Tasty fruit & great juices. Coffee machine with options for good coffee, cafe au lait, cappucino. -s: Be prepared for an electric hot water heater on the wall - takes about 10 mins before you can get hot water. Enough for a quick shower. No shower stall - water drains through the floor. Neither of these are a problem - but dont be surprised!

The hotel is close to New Market.
The staff don't provide toilet paper unless you ask. Even when the rolls empty they don't replace it when cleaning the room.
When cleaning the room they never replaced bed sheets in the 3 weeks i stayed there.
Some Confectionery i bought for poor kids on Christmas went missing. Cups that i used weren't cleaned properly.
Door pass had to be reactivated every few days.
My white socks were very dirty because floor never cleaned.
Buffet breakfast was all indian food. They cooked eggs only Christmas day.

Hotel charged me additional occupancy fee even though the price for 1 adult vs. 2 adults + 1 child was the same online. It was a big mistake that cost me an additional 1/2 of my entire hotel bill. They forced me to sign at 11PM on arrival with my family. Since I booked on a busy weekend, there were no alternatives and it was a non-refundable booking. However, I will dispute with hotels.com since the bill doesn't mention and nor is there a policy on additional occupancy fee. Hopefully I can get my money back. If you want to have a traditional Bengali feel of poor quality Indian lifestyle and being cheated, feel free to stay here. If you are more American like me, because save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere or postpone your trip until you find a decent hotel.

The only redeeming thing about this hotel is the location. its right next to newmarket so easy to get around for shopping at the local bazaar. The front desk staff are neither rude nor caring - just indifferent. Couldnt care less what your needs or requests are. Wont even greet you when you arrive. There was construction on the floor directly above us that went on from morning till 9 pm. When brought to the attention of the front desk staff they just casually mentioned theyre building rooms upstairs. Rooms are ok and comfortable. The AC didnt quite work in one of them. I could go on about the many many complaints about this establishment. Spare yourselves the headaches. For the same cost you can definitely find better hotels in and around the area.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly. Rooftop restobar has excellent food and views. The only thing that would make me hesitate to stay there again in the New Market area itself. Too crowded for me. But no complaint about the hotel.

Really seedy hotel. The free breakfast was pathetic. Negligible choice ofered. Even the bread had run out. Was woken up at 11.30 PM by loud banging on my door...housekeeping wanted the iron back. Was over billed for room service twice. The Signature was forged on the bill. Hotels.Com should de-list this hotel as it is spoiling your standards

We always stay here. All our family members prefer this hotel for the location. Breakfast is also good.
