Great location, very calm and green, the property itself is beautiful, staff was very helpful and friendly, restaurant is top notch, the building itself is amazing, unfortunately there is a serious lack of maintenance which is visible every where, the rooms in the tower were very basic, we were upgraded to a suite in the main building which was very nice but still the hotel needs a lot of work all around. Also the pictures online make the hotel look more luxurious than it really is. In my opinion the hotel is a 3 star and not a 4 star. I truly hope the owners will work to improve the property as it could really be amazing.

A great off the beaten path hotel that is very unique. Highly recommend for the location, cost and luxury. Well kept rooms and the food was delicious!

This property is gated, so make sure you get code to get into and out of the property. We left in evening to eat and were not given the access code only to find we were locked out of the property .

The hotel is pleasantly situated in a small village in a charming valley, which gives it a peaceful setting. The hotel restaurant served inventive and tasty food with a very welcome menu for vegetarians and gluten free diets. The staff were helpful, particularly given our limited French. The stay was marred however by flies in the room, in the restaurant and particularly in the breakfast room. There did not appear to be any attempt made to rid them from the interior of the hotel. It was difficult to tell whether this was a common feature or an unusual event but it was impossible to eat a meal without a fly landing on our food.

Beautiful hotel and grounds in a picturesque village. The old mill is charming and the waterfall is wonderful! Our basic room was remodeled and clean... a little boring for our taste considering the historic nature of the building. It looks like some of the pricier rooms in the main building would have more character... one even has a balcony adjacent to the waterfall. The staff was great and accommodated us for a delicious dinner even though they were completely full.

Beautiful hotel - emailed to say the restaurant was closed one evening which was a shame but apart from that, fantastic!

As during winter time just before X-mas vacation, the hotel was not fully booked, but the service was perfect. In particular, I would like to recommend food, dinner. I was there around 15 years ago (very traditional local dish I enjoyed), the chef would be different person now I suppose. But, the served new style modern french was also excellent. The small village seems to be now good sightseeing spot, I believe, I strongly recommend this hotel to spend calm and tasty time as well as cheese, wine and chocolate in Arbois.

I was really looking forward to staying in a "castle" or chateau in France, but was extremely disappointed by the whole experience. We tried to check in one hour early, but was told no by a non-English speaking person who worked there who showed us their new check-in time, which was a half an hour later than we thought. We sat outside by the beautiful waterfall for a few minutes, but then decided to drive around the area for a little while, and quickly realized that the location of the hotel was going to be very inconvenient for us, since it was four miles from town. We walked around town a little bit and spent some time at the visitor's center. We found out that we were not going to be able to rent bikes as we had hoped for because all of the shops were closed on Monday.
We did a little wine tasting and picked up a few bottles. Then we went looking for a grocery store or some food to take back to the hotel for a picnic dinner. Since it was Sunday, most of the stores were closed. We found a bakery and grabbed a loaf of bread.
When we came back and checked in, we had to wait at least ten minutes for the hotel receptionist to arrive and help us. Our room was very basic and old, with no screens on the windows and no shower, just a bath. We took our wine, bread and some cheese we had brought with us and had a quiet picnic by the waterfall. We made the decision to leave the next morning since we weren't happy with the room, the remote location and no bike riding!

Great hotel, fab location, only problem was a hour for our first course at dinner, but when it arrived it was a super meal... In the morning we walked up to the waterfall which was spectacularly beaterful in the soft autumn morning sun.

A stop over in the Dura. We wanted a character property in an interesting location. The facilities and meal were very high standard. The hotel is built next to a stunning waterfall.
