Great location, lovely atmosphere, comfortable room with giant bathroom with freestanding bath. Restaurant great too
4.4
Beautiful room , excellent breakfast and great service
4.4
Well run hotel in the older style. Good size of room and bathroom and in a clean state. If staying on the upper 3/F the lift tends to be a bit slow. The restaurant and bar were excellent with a great atmosphere.

Good hotel, value for money

The hotel was a great experience. All the staff from reception to bar to waiting to breakfast service were friendly helpful and professional. They reall made a difference- thank you. We will definitely stay here again

The biggest disappointment was that children were not allowed in the pool later in the afternoon or evening; the exact time one would come back to the hotel to swim after a day of sightseeing! Huge disappointment as the pool was the only reason I booked so far from the old town.

Best go for the superior room. The ground floor rooms are blighted by the stench of the fryers in the kitchen and the local "lads" revving their engines at the adjacent traffic lights. The hotel clearly don't want bookings from sites like Hotels.com as they make you jump through hurdles on check in, and then charge extra for the "complimentary" breakfast if you are through a booking site. I won't be back

The cost for the hotel was appropriate.

nice hotel, food lovely, staff friendly, we were in the top of the hotel, could hear next doors tv, sdespite soundproofing, had velux windows so no view, lots of the room was on different levels ie step up and down throughout the room

Great staff who deliver great service

Lovely hotel, great location - lovely staff and top food.
We had a roof room in the eaves, beautiful room & a great shower.
We will stay again next year for Dave Day for sure.
4.4
It location close to the town but right in the centre where the activity for Dave’s Day was happening. Staff friendly mess just right. Place clean food good. Accomodation superbly clean and comfortable. Thanks

Extremely impressed with the Duke of Edinburgh
Very clean, comfortable and peaceful
The gentleman on reception was very kind when I asked for a quiet room, as had to be up early for work so needed a solid nights sleep
Could not fault it in any way
Very good value too !
Highly recommend

Nice hotel in convenient location.
A little noisy in the morning.
4.4
Lovely hotel with lots of original features. Rooms were spotless, good decorative standard and the beds are so comfortable. Air conditioning and heating you can control yourself. DH Lawrence stayed there once. Good location, free parking, near to shops, but not too close. They do the best bourbon Ive ever tasted and lots of different drinks like English vodka.
Only thing Id rate less than 5 stars was the night porter who I just found a bit difficult, not that helpful and a little odd, but that is only my opinion!

The room was a executive double , the room was a great size with a large very comfy bed . The bathroom was massive and felt very luxurious . The bedroom itself was a little tired , the carpet a little thin though it was spotlessly clean .
Good value for money will use again for sure .

About as good as it gets for a small independent business. Lovely, immaculately clean room, fantastic breakfast, great location.

Check in staff very helpful.

I always stay here when I visit Barrow. It is a stones throw from the railway station and close to local bus routes. The hotel just has a really nice ambience. The rooms are a good size, clean and have good comfy beds. Great local bar which also serves great food. All the staff are friendly and make you feel welcome.
4.4
Very clean and the simplicity of check in and out through sms was very smart

Return stay at the DoE. Service is spot on, too few hotels recognise the significance of personalised service... The DoE pays attentions to the small and big things that make a real difference.
Bar/restaurant food is very good at dinner and breakfast.
Great location near the train station and complimentary parking.
4.4
Lovely old fashioned hotel with lots of character. The choice of beers in the bar is exceptional, I was like a kid in a sweet shop!

I’m a regular visitor to the town while I’m helping our son and his partner modernise a house which they’ve recently bought thst.
This is a gem of a hotel which I will be staying at whenever I’m visiting from now on.
Check in was very friendly and efficient.
The room was lovely. Spotlessly clean and well equipped. Tea and coffee making facilities were generously stocked.
The bathroom was spotless and was a good size with a nice powerful shower.
The restaurant has a good variety of reasonably priced meals and an extensive selection of beers to help you unwind after a hard day.
Breakfast was the same quality as everything else at the hotel and very reasonably priced.
I’m looking forward to staying again when I visit again in a couple of weeks.

Great hotel, the decor was nicely done. Good food. Will come back again. Car park difficult to find on the corner across the busy road.
4.4
The room is clean and tidy with everything you need. Little treats like oat cookies provided are really good as sometimes when you arrived after a long drive with really adverse weather, these little treats helps a lot.
All the staff are really helpful , cheerful and efficient. The restaurant downstairs is a must go.
The air-condition inside the room can not be adjusted and there is no hair dryer available inside the room as well.
4.4
Lovely hotel, great location for town and just across from train station.Reception staff were lovely, bonus that our room was available early.
4.4
Spacious room and a bathroom, easy free parking, convenient Tesco just across the street :)

Comfortable rooms, great amenities (tea coffee, iron etc). Very nice ensuite.

I thought the facilities where first class

We've stayed at the Hotel several times over the years, always provide a great service with clean, modern rooms that are both warm and comfortable with everything you need for a short or long stay.
Priced very fairly and the choice of drinks at the bar is excellent, breakfast is amazing and you certainly won't go hungry.
Looking forward to my return in the new year.

Nice room. I would recommend double glazing the windows, as the hotel stands on the corner, of two reasonably busy roads. It is very convient for the station, being 5 minutes level walk away. Staff we good the food recommend. It's clean and has a lift to all floors.
4.4
Really nice hotel, comfy room and no noise.
4.4
A one night stay. To drop son off for summer internship. Food in the restaurant was very good
4.4
The property was an old property tastefully restored The window’s couldn’t be opened and the room had little airflow
The restaurant was expensive with very little choice I ordered fish and chips and was not told it was catfish No room service menu No hotel directory
4.4
never know how this could deserve an 8 rating. i would suggest 5. First there is no place to offload the bags unless you love to park on a busy intersection while offloading. second the floor boards are squeaky. there is no aircon but that I guess is standard for a 3 star htl (it is rated 4),
but the staff are pretty nice and although I came in one day earlier they changed the date which has never been done before, so that takes the cake for me to be more generous in my ratings.
4.4
A nice hotel with nice employees in the restaurant. The hotel is old. The walls are unfortunately very thin and you can hear your neighbor snore if you are as unlucky as I was - result no sleep all night. In addition, it is located next to a highly trafficked road and with thin windows you'll get enough disturbance to late in the evening
