Excellent location, great service, good room size, delicious breakfast. Rooftop bar with one of the greatest view in Shanghais The Bund!

Brilliant location, fabulous sized rooms with beds that are like a cloud - slept super well.
However, reception was cold and unhelpful, for an international hotel - very little english help. Infact, it was only on the last day that we found out where to get breakfast that we had paid for but never got!

I have been staying at this hotel since it opened. It was my favourite hotel in Shanghai. The location the decor the amenities and service. BUT this trip it completely changed. No paid a high price for the room. I felt like I was in a cheap Chinese motel. They had trays of toothbrushes at reception as there were ZERO amenities in the room. The bed was hard as a rock! The restaurant all Chinese dishes, staff didn’t speak English -!: gave me wrong directions to a site. CHAR was terrible! They forgot how to cook a steak and charged a fortune!

Unfortunately, the pool had been closed for 2 months but we weren't informed prior to our stay. There was a memo at the check-in counter but nobody pointed it out when we checked in so we were left a little disappointed when we turned up at the pool only to find out it has been drained for months.

1. The hotel is uniquely located by the river.
2. The hotel is located south of Nanjing East Road. To reach the more scenic part of the Bund, you'll need to walk for about 10min north along the river (it's all concreted along this part).
3. The hotel used to be an office building, therefore, while some rooms (I booked the river view room) have river facing windows the actual surface area of the glass is small and they is obscured by window brackets. Don't expect floor to ceiling panoramic views and don't expect to have a clear view from the bed. I cannot speak for the more expensive rooms though...
4. The breakfast buffet is small and they didn't have baked beans (criminal in my opinion). No egg counter/station. The ready cooked scrambled and fried eggs were terrible. There is an orange presser that you need to use yourself if you want fresh orange juice, other juices were from cartons.
The almond croissant was amazing, proper freshly baked pastry that was crispy where it counted and soft on the inside. Choice of cereals was good, including two types of homemade granola (not chunky enough for me though).
5. Access to the hotel by taxi is very convenient.
6. The room itself (sorry for the lack of photos) was nice, especially the bathroom area. The decoration style is classic Chinese and tastefully executed but the sofa has a rigid bamboo back which is not ideal for lounging on. Bathrobes were super soft, towels were not.
7. Check the official website for room photos.

The hotel decoration is innovative but they tried to put too much elements in just one small room making it look weird. The room is decent size and clean overall.

Great hotel and location. Attentive and courteous staff. Gorgeous views of the river!

Wonderful room much better than the regular hotel rooms. Good location at end of Bund.

The location is great. The room is very clean. The overall lighting tends to be dim. The food choice is below average. But the bar and the view are excellent.

I like proximity to the Bund, the Top floor view...but music inside bar is too loud for conversation.

Great location, on the quiet end Shanghai Old Pier area of the Bund. Best position to view entire Bund and the new Pudong Financial District. The property is kept in a good condition, with adequate amenities,
Very good steak restaurant with reasonably priced wine list..
Room are tastefully decorated in “Shanghai Tang” style, quite comfortable overall..

Good! But for the price I think can find something better.

Location is good for site seeing but room is relative small. Not much dining option also.

We recommend highly this hotel which is very well located.
The rooms are very comforable with amazing view over the river and the Bund.
The bar on the 31th floor has an amazing view.
The steak restaurant is excellent (quite pricey though)
We totally enjoyed our stay at the Indigo hotel.

I always LOVE staying at Hotel Indigo and this visit did not disappoint. The rooms have been revamped and the comfort levels are truly magical. There is nothing like a full view of the river and both the Bund and Lujiazui. The staff are always efficient and helpful.

Great hotel. Staff are helpful and friendly. Walking distance to the Bund.

This hotel used to be excellent; now it is very good. It is showing its age a bit versus when it first opened but a few small efforts could get it back up to perfect!

Excellent. Love the location

My room was lovely with an absolutely incredible view ruined by an issue with the lights in the room. On the first night at past mindnight when I was already in my pyjamas one set of lights wouldn’t switch off - I tried everything and had to call reception for them to send someone up to deal with it. Someone came and repeatedly pressed the switches and eventually it went off. The following night the same thing happened - again when I was in my pyjamas and ready for bed. Someone had to come up and eventually had to do something in the fuse box to fix a wiring issue. To reach the fuse box they had to move my case off of the case stand sending its neatly packed contents everywhere. No-one really apologised or followed up with the wiring issue or offered to help repack the case.

Truly elegant hotel in a wonderful location with great views. The cost was lower than it would have been in other countries.

Wanted a hotel by the river, which was exactly what we got! However, thats it!! View from our room and bathroom of the river and Pudong was great. But the surrounding was mainly office buildings, dead at night. Very little choice for food, unless you walk to Yu Garden. Hotel though cute, was a little dated. Water pressure in the shower was low. Service was average, nothing to shout about. Overall, good if your meetings are in this area. But if you are a real tourist, its too far from the action. Its on The Bund . . but The Bund is long!! Good if you are a business traveller.

Great hotel and lovely staff!

Great place to stay on the Bund. It's a little funky on the south end at night. But great location to explore at night. Very hip and modern.

Room os a bit small

I have lost count over how many times I have stayd at Hotel Indigo during business travel in Shanghai, and it`s not going to be my last. Highlights are the interior, the view and the food. Easy access to a stroll along the bund, if you want a change.
