Basic . Lots of traffic noise and noise outside . Hard bed. Tatty carpets .Good location next to Ewood for football stays.

The only reason for the overall rating was the absence of WiFi in my room. The staff was very helpful and let me use the staff WiFi. The problem was resolved, but it returned as soon as I returned to my room. I had to go to the nearby McD in order to check emails, etc. In addition, the check-in was problematic as the lodge did not have a credit card reader which led to the lodge dismissing my card. The explanation from the lodge was something that the card issuer had never heard about when I checked with them when I got home. Otherwise, the location and nearby pub were great, especially if you plan to see Blackburn Rovers. Their home ground is just 5 min off. Hopefully, this rating will lead to an improved WiFi access at the lodge.

Only stayed one night at The Fernhurst. The room was basic and in need of an update but it was clean. The food was excellent and the staff were friendly.

Very dirty

Having read the reviews I was a little concerned that staying here was a poor choice but I was pleasantly surprised. Double room was indeed dated in terms of decor but all still in good condition with all one could need. Super comfy bed, spacious room, good ensuite and big TV. Wardrobe, hair dryer, tea and coffee and bedside lamp so all good. Would definitely go back.

Needs a major update, rooms extremely snabby and not as clean as they could be, only two pillows on the bed when we asked for a 3rd was told that they did not have any!! outside area dirty, bins overflowing and cigarette butts everywhere. Staff tried there best but it was always understaffed. Would not go back unless major update undertaken.

Lovely large comfortable room, bathroom was dirty, and poorly maintaoned

Where can I start. Faulty tower 2 would be an example.Miserable receptionist, terrible room, bathroom falling to bits, example, toilet seat loose , the back of the toilet loose, mold round the bath. no walk in shower, you just had a bath with a shower over it and extremely slippery. I asked could we be moved as my mobility is not good as was told they only had baths in the bathroom. When I got up in the morning I noticed you could get a bath mat from reception, so I went to ask it was closed so I gave up. The food in the bar restaurant to say at the least was disgusting we left most of it and yes we could of complained but the queues at the bar were enormous. We were never asked if our food was okay. Don't even bother booking unless you are desperate.

Location was good and the building had character, a little bit old and in need of upkeep. Overall clean

Extremely good value for money. Very comfortable bed and reasonably priced quality breakfast. Staff welcoming, friendly and professional. All for less than £50 a night! Excellent value!

Got to hotel given room the window didn’t shut properly and bathroom tap was wobbly. Given another room it was awful! Marks on heater that didn’t give out heat for more than a foot away, bathroom door bubbled paintwork at bottom of door, woodwork in corner by door as if something had chewed it, stains in towels will definitely not stay there again. Manager just said the hotel needed a lot of work needed to be done to it !!! Food was awful as well waited 45 minutes to have cold chips and dried chicken New Yorker . We did get refunded for that

Check in was easy and room very large. Bathroom a tad small though and very tired with loose tap and shabby panelling.Staff friendly and helpful especially in the pub/restaurant next door. Food quality and drink prices good value!

Only one electrical sicket in the room.
Ate in the attached pub. One word, awful!

Great location, 5 minutes' walk to Ewood Park. Furnishings are dated, the room could have used a newer mattress and it would have been nice to have more than one wall socket... but the room was clean, I had a good night's rest and the pub next door was quite good. I would stay here again.

THE STAFF WERE GREAT, VERY FRIENDLY, WHICH MADE THE TRIP GOOD MIX-UP WITH THE SHOWER HAVING NO WASHING GEL, BUT RECTIFIED AS SOON AS INFORMED - ELAINE WAS GREAT.
COUPLE OF BULBS BLOWN IN BEDSIDE LIGHTS, 1 OFF RECTIFIED MYSELF, ALL OK THEN

The room was ok but the bathroom was overdue an update. The bathroom fan was old and noisy and could not be shut off, even when you switched the main switch in the fuse box (is this even legal?). Got very little sleep. Can’t comment on breakfast as issues in my room gave me no confidence to try the catering.

Drastically requires refurbishing.
Room window did not close, mouldy bathroom, socket hanging off the wall, very old and uncomfortable bed.
Pre booked breakfast before I arrived for £18, when I arrived breakfast advertised at £9. Manager Lee refused to discuss a refund for breakfast, did not apologise and refused to discuss any further and walked away.
Upon my arrival of the hotel I had to walk through clouds of marijuana smoke from people sat at the tables outside the reception door.
I emailed a complaint and I am yet to have a response.

This was just a one night stay , everything was fine comfortable clean bedroom.
Restaurant/bar can't fault food was good and staff very friendly.
My only negative was i was unable to get a receipt on departure, and was told they would email it, but still waiting ?

Arrived for a football match at 3pm
across the road, the reception didn’t open until 2pm, making it a hurry to be there for kick-off, when the lady who came to open reception began at 2 she was inundated with people checking in. Pipe work in the toilet sounded in the room and bathroom door had seen better days. Small supply of teas and coffees so you have to go and request more.

Beds uncomfortable and unusually narrow (single beds), you can order food and drink to the room but nowhere to sit and eat other than on your bed, rooms were tired and need updating - our radiator looked like it had previously caught fire. Not much storage space for clothes and had to either live out of the suitcases or have all of our belongings laid out - which meant we didn’t want cleaners coming in the room. Wouldn’t choose to stay here again and would rather go for a trusty premier inn/travelodge. Check in/check out was simple

We have stayed at this hotel several times but this time we noticed a serious decline. The room was clean enough(No. 8) although the duvet was hardly suitable for late November. But the bathroom was a disgrace, The botched tiling and grout around the bath was unsightly and dirty. The curtain was mouldy. There was no shower gel or handwash. We were advised that there was a problem with the suppliers! The toilet made such a racket when flushed. Also we were given one sachet of coffee each. We did not eat in the bar so can’t comment on the food. But unless they refurbish we will never stay here again. It really looked like somewhere ready to close down.

I needed two nights in Blackburn so booked in at the Ferhurst as it was a Greene King place and i'd stayed in one before that was good.
This one is classic contactors hotel. Very worn and a bath I wouldn't like to sit in. Its also only a few hundred meters from Blackburn Rovers FC.
The attached pub is a Hungry Horse franchise. Very loud with sticky tables and dirty seats.
Breakfast was good;

Checked into room 14 smelt of damp . Then moved to room 20 and smell better but still smelt stale . Condition of both rooms
We was in and hotel as in dire need of a refurb . Paid for 2 nights and stayed one as no where else was available .
Complained and got full refund which we was surprised at. Deffo will not stay again

Wifi rubbish. Outdated bathroom and only one plug socket in a family room. Wouldn’t go again

It was a great place to stay and convenient, food was top class,
The room was very large and comfortable, only one slight
hitch, the window would not shut fully the hinge one side was broken and looked like it had been that way for some time, but apart from that it was perfect would stay again.

Run down in need of a update

The rooms were large.
Beds comfy.
Could have done with another pillow or 'thicker' ones.
Reception not manned when went to ask.
Not enough teabags / milk provided.
Restaurant closed earlier than advertised on website, so had no tea.

My only complaint was I booked and paid for 1 room two beds as my husband has a prosthetic leg and can suffer with phantom pain at nights we were given a room with one bed and a couch that wasn’t even made up but was far too small in length for adequate nights sleep

Average hotel. The bed was comfy. It is very dated and needs a refurb.

We stayed here because of a family memory with our Dad. Low price but don’t think I’d stay here again. The pub was very good (service & food). The restaurant/pub couldn’t open for breakfast because the cook didn’t show up. The night before we arrived, another person staying at the hotel said the restaurant & pub closed down more than than 2 hrs before the time posted. The restaurant & pub are the ONLY places to access the wifi. THE SLEEPING ROOMS DO NOT HAVE WIFI. Very inconvenient, especially when the pub & restaurant aren’t open as expected.
It’s a tired hotel. The halls could use a coat of paint! We were switched to a room with a larger bed. In both rooms, there are only 2 available plugs - one in the bathroom and the one the kettle is plugged into. The sheets and bed were clean & comfortable but the bathrooms in both rooms need a good scrub. Aside from the amount of blackened grout, there were cobwebs or hair at the base of of the bathroom door frames. In the second room, the inside of the bathroom door looked like something was spilled /sprayed on it (or maybe someone got sick & it was just wiped down?)
