It was better than expected for a 50$ a night

Very close to the beach, only 2 blocks and surrounded by good restaurants

This is an outdated hotel but we have always enjoyed staying here. There are many shops and restaurants within walking distance and the staff are always friendly and professional.

I would like to see bottle water for in the room.

Hotel Mocali was a great place for us during our trip, the staff was great and attentive - always greeting you when you arrived and when you left. Room was great. We actually received an upgrade without us knowing which was even better. Overall great place and I would definitely stay there again.

Overall, very satisfied

We were out and about all day so just needed a place to sleep and this was perfect. Clean and had AC for a great price. No frills. Dont expect a mini fridge or daily turn down service.

I paid for the property when I booked it and they gave my room away even though I called and told them our flight was delayed. We arrived at the time I told them (12:30 at night) and we had no room. They sent us to another hotel that was disgusting.

The location is good, and walking distance to many things. The customer service is lacking example: requested the remote control get fixed twice, never got done. I do not recommend it or will ever stay there again.

Check in at front desk was a disaster. The guy on d7ty stressed me out horribly, saying I did not have a reservation. Internet was terribly slow during my 15 minutes of trying to prove my (pre-paid!)
Reservation. FINALLY he found it, wi5h no apologies.

Buen lugar, la habitación y baño un poco pequeños pero nada mal para el precio, la ubicación es buena y el cafe de la mañana es muy rico.

Only made up your room ever other day
1 towel per day
Greatly overpriced for a crappy hotel

Overall it was actually a very good stay! Of course one should not expect too much from a simple two-star hotel such as Hotel Mocali but it did serve it's purpose anyway! (Anyone who expected more should have paid for a more expensive accommodation elsewhere!... and that's just the reality of it!).
I was very happy to see the pleasant smile and beautiful personalities of the receptionists first thing in the morning and when I come back at night! The other staff looked shy but very nice too!
I'm satisfied with the coffee and toast they provide every morning (then just have a full breakfast elsewhere, perhaps a good morning street tacos nearby).
Unfortunately, WIFI IN THE ROOMS IS A DEFINITE PROBLEM and that I can't deny. However, they do have spacious rooms with good hot/cold water in the shower with very strong pressure.
The hotel is just a walking distance to the beach (Playas Camarones), restaurants, pharmacies and a couple of cheap laundry services around. It's a 15 to 20 minute walk to Zona Romantico/Los Muertos Beach, passing by the pleasant Board walk / Malecon area. Meanwhile they are also just a block away from the bus stops to the Hotel Zones and the International Airport.

I stayed all over PV, this is a good value if on sale. The buildings all seem strange but once inside it is very nice and not hot or noisy.i notice people avoiding the beach bars because of the high prices. I believe people mostly come for short stay because prices are high especially for seafood which is right there in the Bay...

Place was nice & clean. People were friendly. Air conditioner was really loud making it difficult to sleep with it on. Ceiling fan was quiet, though.

We loved and enjoyed the proximity to the ocean. Everything was within walking distance. This was Great
Unfortunately we had to turn in the key room EVERY TIME we left, even for small errands. This was an inconvenience as we avoided going out several times due to this reason.

The lady in the reception refused to store my luggage before I checked in. I said I woukd book/ check in in 2-3 hours and needed to store my luggage since it was only 11 am and I was taking a friend to the airport.
Rooms are very tiny.
Dogs barjed all night outside my window ( courtyard so I did not sleep much.
No elevator.

There were long shifts at front desk where no one spoke English. i.e. when my flight was cancelled..

Do not book with hotels.com!!! They charged me when I booked and showed up to no reservation at hotel. Staff was very nice and fortunately had an available room, as I was exhausted from traveling, but had to pay motel directly again for 4 nights. Have still to receive refund from original booking from hotels.com, stating they are waiting for motel’s manager approval. Unprofessional and unneeded stress to start a short vacation.

The first night we got there we accidentally got the dates wrong for our hotel stay and so they put us in a room with two double beds and we thought that was a $36 stay and it wasn’t and they ended up charging us the next day for the full price, even though it was a mistake and we were staying a total of three nights anyway. In Mexico everything is about money they don’t care about rectifying problems with guests.
On the third night we had cockroaches crawling on us and I even took a picture of a cockroach that I was able to partially kill and show the manager. I told her how awful it was to sleep in a bedroom with cockroaches and would she be willing to comp us for anything and she refused.
The service staff was okay. Staff somewhat pushy about tips, but we were very generous with.
The price was way above what we received in our opinion. But because it’s in Puerto Vallarta they are demanding ridiculous amounts of money

You need more space in the showe to put shampoo containers.

The rooms are small...but...so what?! It gave me a chance to master my organizational skills! I thought this over as I dissected the room in my mind! Every bit of placement of things was perfect! The shower across from toilet, the sink...but the air conditioning with a ceiling fan provided cooling comfort after our daily walks. The two drawers u see the wall mirror placed where natural light could help you get ready every morning! The cabinet to hang clothing had a shelf so you could as well place shoes underneath on the floor. Under those two drawers you could utilize the floor space as well! The staff were pleasantly accommodating! The breakfast, coffee, toast and three melon options, not much but enough to take your vitamins! Right down the block you could pay 45 pesos for am awesome bigger breakfast. If everything was grand and too comfortable then you wouldn't want to leave your room! You would miss the wonderful things that circled you. The people, the food, the boardwalk, the playa....all right there! A little ice chest from OXXO and drinks on the patio...oh me oh my we are blessed to have found this wonderful place right in the heart of the old town! Thank you Hotel Mocali for the humbling and wonderful experience...we will be back! Oh and the neighbors play loud music late at night, but so what...they are happy and we were happy for them!

My family loved staying there and thought it was similar to a bed and breakfast. My only complaint was I like a softer bed but everyone else said they thought beds were comfortable.

The location was close to transport and local amenities. Staff friendly, but very little English spoken. Clean. No elevator (4 floors). Great continental breakfast daily (free).

Its a nice clean hotel. Staff are friendly. Always wiling to help. Room 131 is the best with balcony, but it’s on 4th floor, if you’re over 50 it’s hard to go up because no elevator. The breakfast is ok but remain the same fruit, bread and coffee all 7 days. This is the drawback. There should be at least variation like egg Mexican breakfast. But overall very good stay and would recommend if you’re ok with stairs.

Nice clean, cheap hotel less than 10 minute walk from Malecon.

friendly staff. property a little bit dated, shower stall was not water proof (lots of water on the floor).

Our room was below street level with a window level with sidewalk, yet we paid the same price as any other room.
We arrived just before 3 pm after long bus ride. Had to wait in lobby for half hour because our room was not ready.

Well.it was a Ok Hotel, I was looking for a Only one night stay, cause of closeness to Cemetery Next Day, And I know this Colonia, from a long time , lived one block up the hill, So it was ok. Good, But the Coffee Was, Terrible, Sorry to say, We need One Strong Coffee, Thank You

Relatively quiet considering its location. Short walk to the beach. People were great although it would be better if they could work on their English skills a bit. Hotel is light on amenities but you're not paying for them so its a relative bargain.

Good little hotel. Close to Malacon, shopping, restaurants, bars etc. Staff is friendly. A bit noisy as sound tends to echo in halls. Windows open to a somewhat busy street. Room is basic, clean & airconditioning and a ceiling fan. There's coffee, cut up papaya and melon with toast in morning. Wifi good only in lobby. Good value for $$.
