Hotel is fairly smart, but small. No lift to 2nd floor, which is challenging with luggage.
Internet quality is regularly terrible. Could not make a work call, and struggled to call family (many times)
Room service seldom got the meal order right

Hotel is comfortable as a mid week business hotel, though there is very little to do over weekend. No pool. No garden to relax in. Room did not have a safe in it, until I complained on day 3
Terrible experience where the staff harassed me in my room to come down and meet someone at reception, and when that failed even allowed that person (not a guest) up into the hotel outside my bedroom. Bad security

Excellent service and food except the facility has no elevators. It was difficult walking the stairs. Lower part of stairs has no guard rails. It was extra difficult for an old disabled man. Hotel should invest in elevator.

Villa Monticello embodies everything you are looking for in a hotel. A peaceful atmosphere along with Staff that is very friendly and goes above and beyond to meet your needs. I enjoyed the in room spa treatment, which was exactly what I needed after a long journey. I also, give special kudos to the Chef, for a menu that blends the flavors of West Africa with Asia, India, European cuisines. Let me not forget, if you are not up to driving in Accra. Please utilize the one of drivers available. The cost is reasonable and you are definitely in safe hands.

It was good

It was a wonderful stay with very attentive staff. The rooms are super spacious and clean. I would definitely stay there again. The only drawback is that the hotel lacks a pool and it wouldve been nice to get some relief from the heat.

Over priced. Not particularly great value for money but it is convenient and an ok hotel. Charged me extra for having two cups of coffee even though breakfast was included. Apparently you can only have one per cup. Water also comes at an extra charge.

Lovely staff and spacious rooms. Room needs a little tlc (refresh paint and tighten toilet screws as it moves A little when sat on). But overall pleasant one night stay

Hotel manager gave the best customer service and so did members of staff but I'm afraid it still isn't great value for money. That said, the Nelson Mandela suite is one of the best rooms I have stayed in a while other than that other amenities in the hotel need to up their game for me to rate this a 5-star

Upon early arrival, we were charged an additional $100 US dollars to check into the hotel before 2pm. We called the hotel to let them know we were on our way. We took a taxi, and arrived within 15 minutes from the airport at around 10:30 am. We stayed for 11nights and for most of that time, the hotel was at less than 10% capacity. We booked and paid for our stay more than 60 days in advance, we should not have been charged that additional sum of money for early arrival, while the hotel was practically empty. That was a complete turn off. We are world travelers and prefer to arrive at our destinations earlier in the day. In the many years of our travels, we were never ever charged an early check in fee.
Although the rooms were clean, the bed and bedding was extremely uncomfortable. The bed was supposed to be a king size, but it was way too short to fit that description. The complimentary breakfast was acceptable for the most part and depending on the mood of the chef.

I have stayed at this hotel several times. Each time, I have stayed in one of the many themed junior suites. I don't really have a preference, as I always like to try a different one when I'm there. This last trip, I stayed in the Manhattan Suite. It was a nice homage to New York. The room was clean and comfortable. I wish it had more power outlets or even USB outlets, as we all have devices to charge. There is a small selection of coffee and teas. And, a daily delivery of a fruit platter arrived in the evening for a small snack before dinner time.
There was a morning where the water was not flowing in the bathroom. When I called down to the front desk, Mathilda, was very pleasant and immediately rectified the issue. Within a matter of minutes, the water came back on and all was good.
Breakfast is part of the daily room rate. The restaurant and pool dining menus were delicious. Unfortunately, as a vegetarian, the options were limited. But, they were equally delicious. And, the staff were pleasant and accommodating.
The pool is no longer there, as it was removed several months ago and converted into a fountain. It's a nice conversion to the patio dining area.
This hotel holds many events. Therefore, parking can be somewhat challenging and, as a guest, can be a bit loud. But, by night fall, the hotel was quiet. That was important.

Ive usually stayed in the big Accra hotels, run by the multinational hotel groups. Playing it safe and frankly too lazy to bother to look elsewhere. I was attracted to the Monticello by the guest reviews on Expedia and thought I should give it a try. Im absolutely happy I did - very professional, very pleasant staff, my room, the Zambezi, was tastefully (even lovingly!) furnished, the food was excellent. I could go on
