The staff were lovely. We were welcomed with a drink and sweet snack while we were waiting to check in. We arrived very early, but they accommodated us by giving us a main floor room - which was lovely, but quite noisy from traffic, until check in time when we were given a fabulous room on the 5th floor. It’s an old hotel with lots of character. The view from our balcony was spectacular. The breakfast and light dinner options were great and the meals in the cafe were very good - service was a little slow - the violinist was exceptional. I would stay here again.

Menu very limited, no toasties or light bites. Hotel next door to a collapsed building, our window overlooked a rubbish dump next to the beach.watch for scammers in reception area, booking a taxi to airport for me ( 3000 EP) I actually got one myself for 650Ep,
Would I go back??? NEVER,
On the plus side waiters and cleaners work hard .

Historic hotel with spacious rooms and nice views of the sea. Great breakfast on rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the historic harbor.

First off, this is old Alexandria. The former palace is very grand, with history. The six floor restaurant is excellent. The staff really help make this place and are prompt and friendly. You come to such a hotel to experience the former glory of Alexandria. In this I was impressed.
The problems is that place needs extensive maintenance. It is quite run down. My toilet was cracked and the bidet valve leaked water on the floor unless really tightened. My outdoor chair was cracked. It might be acceptable for Egyptians getting a discount rate, but for foreigners paying higher prices, this isn't really acceptable.

Great friendly staff! They were so welcoming and flexible to our needs of us being there. The property is dated, but so well maintained and the breakfast offering was fantastic.

Only a one night stay but what a perfect place to be in Alexandria and recapture a little old world charm. The location is the best if you want to be in old Alex - 20 min walk to library and 20 min walk to Citadel - all along the beautiful Corniche. Christina at reception was wonderful helping us arrange a local tour and a taxi back to Cairo at the last minute! 10/10 for sure!

Beautiful old hotel that has been neglected a bit. My rug in my room was not vacuumed. My shower didn’t drain and I wasn’t given enough towels for 2 people. Next to the hotel is a vacant lot full of trash and barking wild dogs. Hotel should contact lot owner or city officials to remedy this eyesore. Rooms were beautiful and recently remodeled. Balcony had view of sea and vacant trash lot. Don’t get the light dinner. It was terrible. Not tasty at all and more like appetizers and not good ones. Breakfast was great. The Windsor has a remarkable location and views of the sea from their restaurant. Some of the furniture in the hallways are actually dirty and gross and need to be discarded as well as the curtains on the ground floor.

Be for-warned, if you are a light sleeper and have a ocean view room on the main street, the HORNS, horns, beeping from cars, mini buses, motorcycles is just insane and loud, it just never stops. GREAT staff and very helpful. The staff made my 3 night stay, they were wonderful. My flight arrived early from Saudi Aribia and they allowed me access to my room extra early ..... THANK YOU. The light dinner they refer to are just small finger food items. not very good. Great refrigerator, Good Wifi. Wonderful old world charm including the elevator. Again wonderful staff ....THANK YOU. I would return,

The Windsor Hotel is an exquisitely preserved heritage hotel right on the waterfront “Corniche” of central Alexandria.
The hotel was built in 1906 and the owner has tried to preserve as much of the original aesthetic as possible.
You will time travel a century back in time when you use the elevator to your room.
The view from the 6th floor restaurant is spectacular!
You will enjoy your breakfast with a 180 degree view of the Mediterranean with the Citadel of Qaitbay to your left and the Library of Alexandria to your right.
The staff have been trained meticulously in customer service so you feel like you are in a five star hotel.
Every staff member smiles and warmly greets you as if you are the most important guest in town.
Highly recommended!

Every thing was very good , but the cleaning of the room was not up to the standards.

I am satisfied with the hotel and the staff , the only thing that was frustrating was that in your website it showed sea view room , but once I booked the room that disappears and only showed smoking room .
I have to pay an extra 15$ US to get a sea view … a bit frustrating … maybe you as Wotif could verify that this kind of mistake is not done .
Thank you

I stayed 2 nights end of March 2022 and it was fairly horrible.
- do not expect the hotel to be as per western standards. Even for Egyptian standards, it was fairly bad
- the staff speaks a terrible English for most of them. The man at the reception at night was horribly rude!!
- super cold. No heating in the rooms. I had diner at the restaurant. There was rain outside. It was 11°C, with wind blowing through the windows (they do not close completely as it's a roof top). I asked for a heater (gas-heating stove) and even when turning it to maximum, it was still cold. A staff member came to turn it down because I was "using too much gas"... it's not McDonald! You run a 4-star hotel! And my pizza was frozen.
I wrote a complain about the cold at the hotel when I left and 2 days later, someone contacted me per Whatsapp! to complain that I complained!
- the hotel has probably never been renovated. I assume it was a nice place 100 years ago but today (and the hall still looks nice), it's completely ran down. There's a gap between the window and the window frame in the room. They simply stapled some piece of cloth... how does it stop the wind and rain? (see picture attached)
- the hotel is central, can be noisy at night, in a very secure location. Options for diner all around.
- Covid measures are yet to be enforced...
- the room was quite clean as per local standards
- you find 2 small bottle of water in the room when you arrive. One of mine was open.

It was OK, but the bathroom laked foot towls and the door wouldn't shut. The balcony doors were so stiff, we needed to use force to shut them.

I've been staying at this hotel since the 1990s, before it was bought by the corporation that now owns it. Back then it was rundown but still magnificent and *much* cheaper obviously. Thankfully the new owners renovated it rather than knocking it down and building some awful tower. The hotel is clean, quiet, the staff are very nice. Upkeep seems to be an issue though because some of the rooms have gotten rather dingy. We had reserved a superior room (35 sq.m balcony with sea view). When we arrived they tried to foist a much smaller standard room on the first floor on us. The room was awful. We made a fuss and they finally 'upgraded' us to a 'superior room', still on the first floor and consequently with no balcony. It was very noisy, day and night. It makes me very sad to say this, but I will no longer be staying at the Windsor Palace when I visit Alexandria. It's just not worth the money.

1- the photos of all rooms is not the actual photos the hotel gave me a very bad and un acceptable room max 20 or 25 meters ( not like the photos at all or the reserve room) and i refuse it, so they change it to an accepted one
2- no free parking the hotel miens parking in the streets around

The staff is really amazing and helpful.
Especially Ahmed at the front desk and Mr.Said the assistant manager of housekeeping.
The room was clean until late at 4am when 2 big cockraoches popped out of nowhere.
Plus the bathtub curtain kept falling off.
The bathroom had a very bad draining system... I had to use the room key to open the drain.
Overall... It wasn't a great experience except for how helpful the staff were and the vintage style of the hotel.
