Check-in staff was pleasant and friendly. Cabin room was very outdated. Sofa was very worn and grungy. Bed was horrible. Cabin was freezing! Wall heater took many hours to warm up the place and throughly the night. Bathroom was worn looking.

I stayed here this past weekend. Unfortunately I did not have a good stay. The front desk was friendly but that’s it. The room was dirty and the bathroom was disgusting. They never cleaned my room during the weekend.

Cheap hotel and you get what you pay for. It was December and the heater didn't work, so that's really bad. Wifi was too slow to work too, also really bad. Overall it was the cheapest option but I will not be staying here again. It will be worth staying somewhere else that has higher standards.

the pictures do not reflect the actual status of the rooms. the sink inside the door upon entering ,water was always running, the carpet was dirty and stained, there was a horrible smell thru out the room, the walls were dirty along with the floors. the glass sliding door had hand prints all over them. The kitchenette was sticky upon touch of most all appliances. there was dry rot on the counter along with missing tiles. The chairs had furniture covers on them, underneath, yuck. The couch was dirty and had large runs in the material. over all not a good place to stay.

I had visited many years ago and had a great stay. Now the property is going through renovations. Everyone at the desk was great and accommodating when we asked to be moved to another room. There are many things to like including a great location to Nevada City, and the price is right compared to other stays in the area.

No wi-fi and hit or miss hot water.

The room was great and the front desk lady was awesome, the only complaint is that the ice machine was out of order.

We had a chalet and it was fine. Desperately needs updating. Old torn and stained carpet. But unit was clean and comfortable and safe. The property is a bit run down overall and the chalet/cabin itself could’ve used a few good Home Depot runs.

We booked this room thinking there was a pool.
The listing showed there'd be a pool.
We were a bit hot and hangry, looking forward to a swim in their wonderfully cool and wet pool.
She did not bat an eye when i asked for a room down by the pool.
We'd over look the rusty shower valve, if only there was a pool.
We'd make due with the lumpy bed and pillow, if only there was a pool.
We'd ignore the missing window slats, if only there was a pool.
We'd make due without a decent blanket, if only there was a pool.
Alas, there was no pool.
This isn't cool.

Did not stay at this property because the reservation was made on the wrong date. A change was requested immediately but Expedia refused to make the change. I will never use Expedia again for anything.

This was a disgusting hotel. There were bugs dead and alive on the walls and the windows. The service was absolutely terrible. They were slow, late with check in and then couldn’t be bothered when we needed help with a room key. I would never stay there again. Groos.

Check in was supposed to be at 3pm, We called in advance asking if we could check in a few minutes early since we had to be at a wedding by 4pm. We arrived at 2:40, by 3:20 our room was still not ready; there were about 10 ppl waiting for rooms and in similar situation. They keep paging housekeeping and they were not answering. We had to leave and get dressed at the wedding venue, which is totally inconvenient; leaving our luggage in the car until we checked in at midnight. This morning when we went to shower there was no body wash in the bathroom, no bath mat, one face towel and the towels were tiny. There were a couple of what looked like dirty tissues under the bed; even after they had all afternoon to “clean the room”.
Never staying there again!

We stayed 2 wonderful nights at the Northern Queen Inn!!! My family and I were wanting somewhere close to the hiking trails we were planning to go to! It was right by all the beautiful trails. The Northern Queen in grounds were quiet, clean, family friendly and most all of DOG FRIENDLY!!! the staff was very nice & attentive. The grounds were beautiful, connecting the the train museum and an awesome hiking trail with a bridge leading into a beautiful park!! We love staying at the Northern Queen Inn, & will be back soon!!! Ignore the bad reviews.. this place is a perfect hidden gem in the sierras! ❤️🏔️🥰

It was perfect for an inexpensive place to stay. I booked the room so I could go on a hike early in the morning. Things were worn down but well maintained for the age. I want to stay in one of the cabins next time.

I always stay in a cabin. Great place to stay with my dogs. Peaceful, feels like your in a cabin in the woods

We stay here quite a bit.. The chalets are great for our family. The staff is always accommodating. This time, we were checked into 303... It was disgusting. It smelled horrible. The room was filthy. This was disappointing and has never happened before. The staff was quick to relocate us to a chalet that was being cleaned. We had to wait past check in to get this chalet (this was frustrating as it was 4 pm ). However, we had a great visit like usual. I think this was a fluke, as it is usually spotless and we enjoy the seclusion of the property.

Property location is great and the grounds with the creek and foliage are beautiful.
However, the structures need a rehab.
I stayed in a Chalet. Concept is nice but it had problems: 1. Carpet very stained in multiple places. 2. A/C unit was noisy and blowing warm air. 3. Windows had no screens and would not close; I did not feel safe. 4. Furniture old and stained.
If I wasn’t so tired , I would have looked for somewhere else to stay.

The room was filthy. Hole in tin, wet paper cups, pee around toilet , broken tv, unaccomodating staff as the room smelled of mold , when I requested another room I was told they could give me a can of air freshener but no room. The noise was bad at night , had to call desk about group of loud men. It was awful. It absolutely ruined the last night of what was meant to be a special trip

This motel was average. It was not clean and they have no room service. They did not clean the room or empty the trash each day (I don't need bedding changed daily, but towels and trash is expected). This room was large and it looked like I stepped into a motel room from the late 70's early 80's as that had to be the last time it was upgraded. There were no bugs in the room, but it was not clean nor "sanitized". The sheets were clean but had spots of stained blood on them. I guess you get what you pay for.

Very nice area. The room was nice size and natural light. The room wasn't cleaned well. carpet has hair berets and unclean areas on it.

Everything smelled like cigarettes. It was so awful i had to run to target in the night to get a scented candle in hopes of being able to sleep. Everything was dingy and uncomfortable. Ughh this place is so overpriced!

The bungalow was filthy. The furniture was stained with visible brown spots and high soil levels. I wouldn’t sit on the couch or chairs. The bed seemed clean, thankfully. The room stunk, and the windows wouldn’t stay open to air it out. No screens on the windows either.
The water was shut off to the toilet, and the AC did not work!
They never stopped the large group staying next to us from partying ALL night and taking loudly about their sexual explorations and acts.
The place could be awesome if it had a remodel, and security to help keep the partying to inside their designated rooms.

It is terrible! Bed and pillows are the worst. No wifi at all! Imposible early check in, not even let the luggage! 1rst floor no lift.....Sounds coming from the fridge all night long....

I highly recommend the restaurant, excellent. I rented a cabin. Great especially if you have pets. There is a lovely meadow behind the property to walk dogs. But, you have to bring everything to cook and eat with (pots, pans, dishes, utencils, charcoal, etc) just need to be prepared if you plan to eat in. Staff follow up to be sure your stay is going well. Good host services.

Room not clean and dirty not about it's a old hotel and great location it's about not been clean need some serious renovation

Beautiful location. Tons of potential if the right investor were to buy it and remodel it. Staff is very nice and do the best they can with what they have to work with. I've stayed here many times for work, its a place to sleep. Carpet, tile, furniture all needs to be relaced. Plumbing is suspect at best. Its just an old hotel that needs to be gutted and refreshed. Beautiful location, great staff.

We were very pleasantly surprised about how much we enjoyed our stay. Their restaurant is Fantastic! Food was delicious. Really enjoyed their home made bread. Room was larger than expected. Great shower!

The hotel has so much potential but it looks like they are trying to squeeze every dome out of it. Just renovate and charge more. This chair should be thrown away. Empty space would look better. Smh

The outdated room was clean and the staff were very kind. The room did have an odd smell, kind of like yeast. The other bigger issue was that the window covering were only thin plastic blinds. They have lots of lighting outside, adding to security but that light blazes into the rooms because of inadequate window coverings. At night, with the lights off, I could read a book. This makes for difficult sleeping. I asked the staff if there were other rooms with drapes and they said no.
Also the primary picture for the advertisement was taken in one of the chalets. The hotel rooms are very outdated and the mattress was hard and lumpy. I ended up staying elsewhere on my second night in Nevada City to get sleep.
The hotel is cute from the outside and the staff were so kind that it’s hard to give it the lowest rating but I wouldn’t recommend staying here if sleep is a priority.

I enjoyed staying in the cabin. It was comfortable, but could use a bit of an upgrade. Enjoyed the quiet sitting on the deck watching the bird's and squirrels.
3.0 / 5.0
We stayed in a Chalet. It really has a lot of potential and it was clean, but had a bleachy smell and really felt like it needed an update. Im guessing for the price it attracts a certain population type, which requires them to have matress covers that are usually reserved for children that wet the bed. It was a noisy night's sleep to say the least. The vaulted ceilings with skylights, and loft vibe was super cool, but the rest of it felt like a cheap apartment. Should have read the reviews ahead of time!
Our room, thankfully, had no bugs. 😬

Over all this place is run down. It needs to be closed down, completely renovated and reopened. I've stayed here a few times now. The staff is very friendly and do their best with what they've got. Everything about the rooms is old and in need of replacement. Plumbing is terrible, carpets, furnature, beds, litterally everything. The property has great potential. The grounds are very pretty and the location is nice. Owners need to bite the bullet and do a complete make over and it could easily compete with the nicer hotels in the area.

This was one of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in. The bathroom floor was lifting and mold surround the bottom, shower was rusting, mattress had lumps, people were outside taking at ALL hours of the night. I do not recommend this hotel.

alot nicer than I though it would be.
