Room was clean and good size. Looks like recently renovated. Very limited meal options and rather expensive for what were offered, for both breakfast and dinner. Not buffet style. Can't be having the same English breakfast and French dinner everyday. Restaurants closes relatively early in Gora. Public transportation not very convenient. Need your own car to move around. Walking to Gora station is an option, but the terrain is hilly. Hotel shuttle service starts from 9am and ends at 6pm. Telephone booth next to Information office at Gora station to call for hotel shuttle service. Hotel service is excellent. Onsen facilities were good.

The hotel is located in the beautiful mountainous area, my room had an amazing view.
The hosts were very accommodating, I was allowed to check in earlier on the day of arrival.
The onsen was great!
The minus about the Gota area is that it’s not offering a lot of dining places.
However, the hotel has the restaurant.
The food was delicious!
I had a great time during my stay!

We liked that it had an indoor and outdoor onsen. We didn’t make dinner reservations before arriving but they accommodated us by giving us a simplified dinner menu that did not require prep. Thank you!

It is a very rusty and old place. The place is also located far away from public transit on top of a hill which makes it difficult to commute.

The overall hotel is built upon a much older building. In general, it was very nice but the room I had (1st floor) was dated and very worn looking. Carpets were worn and spotted (by who knows what) which made them look dirty and unkempt. Wallpaper was lifting in places. All the furnishings were scuffed and marred. That said, the beds and linens were clean, as was the bathroom. Just felt quite old and in need of refreshing. The onsen was very nice and just what you would expect.
The staff were courteous and polite (as only the Japanese can be) and there were little language barriers.

It was a nice stay, I especially like the onsen. The staff were nice and helpful. Breakfast and dinner were ok and a little overpriced, there was also no variety to choose from.

Nice staff but very very old hotel. Wouldn't go again!

The hotel was so nice and clean, though the shuttle service ends early in the evening at 6pm,

Comfortable though very dated hotel. Onsen was lovely. There is no food at this hotel unless you’ve made a prior booking at the restaurant. The staff helpfully drove us down the hill to a convenience store to get meal for dinner. If arriving in Gora, it’s quite a hike up the hill, but if you’ve a Hakone Free Pass, get on the cable car and go two stops up the hill, then it’s just a short walk along to the hotel. Very quiet location. Nice spot to base yourself for exploring Hakone, though plan ahead for your meals as very limited evening dining options in Gora.

Blast from the past! Quite dated but overall very spacious and comfortable. Getting to the hotel was a bit tricky with suitcases with the terrain in Gora but the hotel was close to the cable car which was great for the days we were exploring. Food was the biggest challenge, the restaurant was expensive for what we got, without many other options nearby

Lovely location, room has a great view over Hakone, however room does feel a bit dated and could use with and update. Staff are friendly and will advise where to dine if not in the hotel. Close by restaurants and shops and transport

Esta alojada arriba en Gora, subimos caminando unas barrancas super empinadas, pero el hotel esta muy bien!! El personal nos ayudo con todo. Super recomendable

Amazing resort like feel; very serene.
However, very dated bathroom; in dire need of an upgrade and renovation. Bed mattress wasn't very comfortable either and needed an upgrade also.
Overall, very beautiful and nice location, and very welcoming & helpful staff.

Decent value for cost of stay. Hotel is a bit dated - but location makes up for this.

Marroad Hakone location put it to some disadvantage to access to the nearby Gora station for Japanese food and some simple shopping. But Marroad impressed me with her European beauty, nostalgic feeling and the excellent service attitude with every male staffs suit up. Because evening time at winter get darken earlier and the hotel transport service only serves between 9am to 6pm, I chose their French style dinner which needed to be ordered. It is the only choice, at 7400 Yen. But I can assure you, it is really worth trying. The set up in the restaurant like French, silver utensils, and a menu printed per your ordered. Starter was great that tickled your appetite, potato soup had a nice aroma telling you it was done fresh and flavored, the fish was definitely fresh with crispy skin on the other side with sauce giving a good texture and taste balance, the duck was done just nice with honey sauce that together gave that succulent and juicy feel, the bread was freshly bake with certain good yeast, crispy on the outside, moist inside. Onsen was great and it was this I went to Hakone. I do hope they continue to prosper with visitors to appreciate their services and food.

Distance far from town, i.e. Gora Station. Did not even know there is pick up service provided by hotel. Should have informed when booking OR at least inform the guest when check-in.

Nice hotel and good service, can provide us the transport to hotel and staff very nicely. Hotel stall reply email also within one hour.

We arrived at night with a long drive from Narita. Its good that they could do late check in unlike other hotels nearby. The room is surprisingly big for a hotel in Japan; however, the twin beds are tiny. My wife and I could not turn at all. The room definitely needs improvement. Air conditioning is mainly controlled by the hotel, not us, even we have a turn knob to adjust. The room has a balcony and a good view, which is a surprise. The carpet is so brown that you can tell its old. Hotel staffs are nice and speak good English too. Although there is a restaurant, it is not ideal for guests who like to have last minute plan. It requires you to buy a breakfast plan the night before or you dont get to eat. Same thing for dinner. The onsen (hot spring) is nice, but definitely not as big as those that are authentic onsen hotels. We will probably go back for the price portion of this hotel, but we will definitely look for another one which has better onsen and nicer rooms.

We had a nice room with a good view of the mountains. The windows are rather small, but that makes it rather charming. The onsen is very nice and I like the outside tub with the view of nature. My wife said that the womens side was all closed in without a view. We did not eat at the hotel because the price of the meals was out of our range. It would be nice if they have a cafe in the hotel for people that do not want a multi course meal. It was a convenient walk from the cable car station and was very easy to get to and from. It would be nice if they had music channels on the TV or a radio with music. We dont watch TV and all channels were in Japanese, so not good for foreign visitors.

Even though the staff did not speak much English (understandable since the hotel is in Japan) they were very nice and accommodating. I had a good stay here.

Very nice hot spring setting, large room with view, comfortable beds, fast wifi. I will stay again, and will recommend this hotel to all.

It was a nice hotel with great shuttle service. It is old but well kept. The only thing they should invest in are better mattresses. Other than that, everything else is great!
2.5
Lovely older style hotel, good breakfast. The room was spacious, wifi worked great, nice onsen. Only a 5 minute walk to the cable train and maybe 15mins walk to Gora train/bus stations (up a hill though). Sure the bathrooms and some parts of the hotel may not be renovated in the latest fashion but everything worked as it should.

We stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. The hotel is only a few minutes by vehicle from Gora Station but is not easily accessible to walk. Courtesy bus from hotel by arrangement or by cable car followed by 10 minute walk. English not spoken by many staff. Room spacious and clean with beautiful view. Must book time for breakfast & evening meal. Food very good. Free wifi. Gora Park nearby is worth a visit.

The staff showed no interest in sharing information about the hotel its services, policies or the surrounding area. Utterly useless and disappointing.
