The Tapoco Lodge is absolutely beautiful and the staff was amazing. The cabin we stayed in felt like everything was antique but somehow still new. My only complaint was that Expedia allowed me to book it as a pet-friendly room when the actual room I chose wasn’t pet-friendly. The Tapoco honored the reservation anyway and took care of us. They were terrific. My wife is already asking if we can stay here again.

Great place to stay, wonderful food, and beautiful views.

Driving the Tail of the Dragon and staying at the Tapoco lodge as been on my bucket list for years. Neither disappointed. The folks at the lodge were super nice, dinner and drinks were lots of fun. The location is fantastic and the property is really enjoyable. The cabins are rustic cabins so don't expect 5 star accommodations but they're fun.

Great over night location to enjoy some fantasic driving roads! Restaurants, service, and even a fire pit enhanced our stay. Will be booking again for our fall trip for sure.

The view out of our window was beautiful, we were on the creek side.
The room was clean and comfortable and large
Staff is very friendly
Small store on site has great gift items
Downside is there wasn’t a TV in the room
Also cars on The Dragon can be noisy
Restaurant is just OK- pizza was delicious but other food (burgers, trout) not great

Look at the website pics. This Lodge looks and feels exactly like the website pics. No way to go wrong if you like a rustic stay in the mountains. A sure nuff trout stream… fire pits and s’mores at night… cozy bar/customer lounge…great hiking trails…fast cars courtesy of the rail of the dragon… mountains everywhere

This place is perfect! Staff is attentive and the food was delicious. Love the bird background noise in the room, the great coffee that is always available, river front dining with our wonderful waitress and the cozy and comfortable bed and bath. Motorcycle garage a plus!

Awesome place in the river

We selected a cabin and could easily walk from it to the main lodge. The setting on the water was perfect. Just a short ride from the Lodge is the southern tip of the Tail of the Dragon, a great ride for us in our Vette.

We loved our stay at the Lodge. It’s such a peaceful, relaxing place. The restaurant was very good and service was excellent. The Overlook Cabin was great except for the bathroom which is in need of a major update.

Best place to stay if you are trying to hit the dragon. The staff is incredible and the food is great as well. The rooms are spacious and have a great design.

It has a fabulous history and is a wonderful location for a get away. The food is fabulous, particularly the mountain trout! The staff are warm and friendly and so helpful!

Another great trip to the lodge. Our only disappointment was the removal of the breakfast buffet. The breakfast menu was lacking in our opinion and very pricey.
Our cabin was nice but definitely needs weather stripping around the door

Amazing

Despite all the positive reviews, I am extremely disappointed with this place. I thought it was maintained better since it is a historic hotel. We stayed in Overlook cabin, the bathroom's grout was falling apart and had cheap plastic bathtub. The room was musty. Kudzu is invading all the vegetation in the yard, either the owner has no idea or they don't care, the lawn was maintaned as little as possible. Right by the river and national forest, how can you even use and serve a coctail in a plastic cup? We were served stale chips with jar salsa, salad's romain was old, pizza was OK, if you like the cheapest topping on your pizza. I am sorry, I might have higher expectations if I am paying $250 per night, but if you own and manage a place built in 1930, please be proud and maintain it better, and don't use plastic cups or straws, be environmentally conscious.

First visit ~ this place was simply amazing! One night weekend anniversary trip with my bride on our Super Tenere. Room was phenomenal, meal at the lodge was superb (had the trout appetizer and the loaded pizza), walked the beautiful grounds, relaxed on the porch over looking the river and appreciated the covered bike parking for our rainy morning departure.

This historic old lodge is just a few miles from the Tail of the Dragon. Accommodations are clean and charming and the restaurant is right on the river. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. We'll be back.

Our stay was wonderful. It's a very peaceful. Lots of outdoor seating for dinning, sitting around the fire pit or just watching the river run. They have a covered motorcycle parking area complete with supplies to wash your bike. This was an unexpected bonus. The restaurant was amazing! We had the fish, pizza and chicken during out stay. Staff was very helpful and friendly. FYI rooms in the lodge do not have tvs or a refrigerator. It's 3 miles from the Tail of the Dragon. Great place over all

The pizza in the restaurant was very good.

Excellent stay, room with AC that only went down to 68 (would have liked 65 at night). Very nice and clean room, comfortable beds and pillows and linens. Big bathroom. Room on main level which was probably more noise but nice and convenient. We had a nice river view. But the description from my booking said the room had a 32" TV but No TV was in the room. Internet was good so we steamed a movie. Felt Safe. Ate dinner in the Tavern on site and it was really good. Will come back.

A last minute booking on our way into Ashville. We got in late ~10pm. Friendly greeting. After we checked out in the morning, we went on a hike and got some pizza. Very cool location. Nice staff
