Our balcony looks out over the alps.We slept with the balcony door open and woke up every morning to the view of the alps! The breakfast is delicious. They source a lot of their ingredients locally. We also ate dinner here and the food is high quality.
The rooms are very clean and the sheets smell so fresh. The mattress is comfortable. It’s a short walk down from the train station.

Staff was extremely nice and helpful. Breakfast was amazing and although we didn’t have dinner there, the food smelled great and the restaurant was busy at night. We checked out earlier than usual and they even packed us a small meal since we were leaving before breakfast was served. The room was small but had all that we needed and was very clean.

Large room, balcony overlooking mountains and valley. Easy walk from train station. Shuttle available to take luggage uphill to train station. Great service if raining. Umbrella provided in room and more available at the front entrance. Hotel restaurant had excellent breakfast buffet. We also enjoyed a meal for dinner. Recommend reservations. Staff were very friendly. Can't say enough about the beautiful views!
Down side, had to keep BR door closed during shower; apparently steam sets off the smoke alarm. Occasionally could hear noise from room above us. They provided ear plugs, but we didn't need them.

Of all the places we stayed in Switzerland, this was our absolute favorite! Starting with the staff, each person was extremely helpful and nice. Then, there's the view. Pay for the balcony, it is worth it! We heard dinner at this restaurant is the best in town, but regrettably, we did not try it.
Only downsides - material of the sheets isnt comfy - like jersey sheets that pill. Pillows are uncomfy. Water pressure on top floor is weak, not sure about other floors. Makes washing hair a challenge. But, staff and view make up for these!

The hotel is clean and cozy, providing a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The staff is exceptionally friendly and very helpful, always ready to assist with any needs or questions. The on-site dining options are excellent, serving a variety of delicious dishes that cater to different tastes.
The property's location was fantastic, situated in a quiet neighborhood and close to public transportation.
Overall, Hotel Baren ensures a welcoming and unforgettable stay for all visitors.

This was such a cozy and comfortable stay, especially for solo women travelers. The staff were amazing and so accommodating making the area feel safe and easily digestible (despite being so vast). The area is perfect for hikes and is safe and beautiful, even if you are a beginner or just want to go for a quick walk. The dinners from the hotel restaurant were captivating from not only the views but the exquisite cuisine that made the waiters and cooks so excited to share.

The room was ready when we checked in. We enjoy the room with the balcony as it is nice to sit outside in a blanket and drinking warm drinks. Great breakfast and friendly service

My room had a nice balcony and an excellent view of the mountains from the second floor. The breakfast here is also nice with a lot of options. The staff at the reception and restaurant (Melissa) were super nice. They were happy to offer tips about where to go and what to see. The owner/caretaker even offered a ride to the railway station since we had luggage and it was raining. Awesome people. Highly recommended.

Staff was kind, helpful, and accommodating. Conveniently located near the train station and food/drink/shopping but far enough to be quiet. Lots of trails nearby to explore. Room was clean and comfortable. Loved the free breakfast. Hope we can come back soon!

The hotel had excellent food, staff service and amazing view rooms. My only complain would be the fact that the rooms need to probably have a humidifier during colder months (like now it is autumn and the temperature at night is below 5 celcius. I found the room very dry causing poorer sleep at night. You also cannot humidify it while showering with the door open as the steam causes the fire alarm to set off.

Nice old building. Clean. Very close to train station, about 5 min. by walking,
Helpful staff. Top floor rooms have danger of one hitting his head to the ceiling due to steep decline of roof top.

This hotel is located in Wengen, which is car-free village, but easily accessible with a train from Lauterbrunnen. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. We booked a room overlooking the mountains and the views were spectacular. The hotel also has a great restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Highly recommended this hotel and location.

Hotel Baren is a wonderful hotel with a spectacular view from our balcony room! The staff are very friendly and helpful when we had to switch rooms because we had two separate bookings. Wengen is a perfect base to see the area. Very accessible to trains and cable cars.
The rooms are a bit smaller than preferred but the balcony makes it feel a bit bigger and when you are in the mountains the rooms are generally small.

The good: call ahead for directions from Wengen. Decent sized double room.
The downside: The Hotel is actually further down below the station on a steep path- heavy baggage is not convenient. They did not help with either theirs nor third party taxi. They were keen to book us in for evening meals - the waitress was not helpful with portion sizing, my wife asked for a small portion as she was unwell, they refused and got huge us portions that the kids and my wife did not like (overly oily fish fritters etc) nor could finish.Snarky remarks from the servers that we have too much food. I had clearly specified that I had an egg allergy, the waitress said she would ask. Another waitress got the food and I was about to eat it before I double checked and the answer was again- 'I will ask' (!!)-this is unacceptable in my view, simply too careless about the customers health. Very awkward ambience and rushed treatment from the servers. Also this restaurant is more expensive than the standard 'Swiss expensive'. We did not go there again. The rooms are separated with sliding doors that go completely inside the slot- my little child's hand got stuck in the slot while she wanted to move,it was hurtful for her. No lock or exhaust fans in the toilet. Lock and key for hotel doors. Room not cleaned while away. Snarky comments and inappropriate comments from the receptionist during checkout. Expensive place with little value. This Hotel was the low point of our Swiss trip.

The front desk was very nice and warm, though I wished the bathroom had more shelves

Staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is great - be sure to make a reservation for dinner. We stayed in the small little house next to the playground, which was perfect with our 7 and 5 year old. Definitely recommend it!

This is a wonderful place to stay if you are visiting Wengen. The staff was so friendly and helpful - even making us a bagged breakfast on our day of departure since we were catching an early train. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is perfect if you are arriving by train - just a short walk down the hill from the station. It is easily assessable to the village and local hiking trails. A bonus is the wonderful restaurant on site where we had an amazing dinner and views of the "Alpine Glow" in the evening. Breakfast, which is included, was a wonderful and extensive buffet. I would highly recommend this wonderful hotel.
