Charming old stone storybook house, sweet and friendly proprietors. It has the feel of a youth hostel, with a little outside garden, piano, shared bath and kitchen access. You get to old town via a walk and metro ride, and it's just fine if you are not in a rush. The vieux neigborhood surrounding the 'refuge' is interesting and there's a walking path nearby where you can see all the people who live here walking their dogs and so on....delightful!

Design of the room, arts, tranquility, and home-like atmosphere of the room. It was a pleasure to stay there.

This is a really charming place with a very kind and nice host. The place is steps away to nice restaurants, walking and cycling area.
Some downsides of an old house are that rooms are small (at least mine was), with tiny fridge and tiny table, no ventilation in the room or in the shared bathroom (so it can only be controlled by opening/closing windows), water drainage in the sink and the bathroom could be improved as well.

I booked a 3 night stay at Le Refuge du Poete in Longueuil, Quebec for a stay July 20-23. It is listed on Expedia and on Hotels.com as a B&B. IT DOES NOT SERVE BREAKFAST! I specifically booked it to have the breakfast included before heading into Montreal for business. I was very disappointed. It was too late once I had slept the first night to change my reservation. The description must be changed as it is misleading.

Great hospitality, would recommend this stay to anyone traveling to Montreal area. Nice place to stay outside of the city, convenient location with many dining options within walking distance.

Our hostess made
Us feel like part of her family. She even gave our puppy a treat every morning.

Spent only 1 night, in the room w ensuite bathroom. room was cosy and charming, as is the house...it's a small older house with all sorts of interesting antiques and features. We were greeted very pleasantly by Louise and I also enjoyed chatting w her and seeing her beaming smile the next morning. However, probably because I was concerned about travelling again after several years and what might happen on the remainder of our trip, I slept badly; the bed and the pillow were older, and my husband found them uncomfortable too. I have not slept in a bed like this in some years, including in my travels to Australia, Malaysia and Costa Rica in 2019...time to replace the mattress. My neck ache lasted for a couple of days. It was super to be in such an interesting neighbourhood; wish the Greater Toronto Area had something as charming as Longueuil. I can see how it would be so easy to get to and from Montreal from this Gite, via transit. Sadly, I noticed some hairs and dirt around one of the bed legs...in a very prominent spot/I wasn't kneeling down or hunting for dirt...it was very clear that the room had not been vacuumed in some days. So nice to be able to bring our dog (who does not shed) and not to be charged extra for him. Very few channels on the TV; I guess costs have to be cut due to losses during the pandemic. I am fairly sure I left something behind but I she did not call me...perhaps she didn't have my number?, as I booked via this site.

Our stay was wonderful! It’s a cozy warm feel, the moment you walk into the home. Our bedroom was very cute with a historic feel from the art on the wall to the furniture on the floor. It has a very private and peaceful backyard with plenty of shade. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

The property was most unique in that it was built in the 1850s. It is in terrific condition and has all sorts of fascinating features. I would definitely recommend this property and will use it again.

Adequate for an overnight stay. Parking is an issue & the place could use a thorough cleaning. The location & home are lovely & the hosts were very welcoming & friendly.

Stayed for two nights in a clean nicely equipped old fashioned room. It was quiet as I stayed in November. BEWARE of parking on the street. I arrived at night in the pouring rain and parked the wrong way on the side street. I did look for signs! There were no other cars around and the one way sign is one street over. The next morning, the most frustrating part of my stay was the owner did not knock on my door as apparently they saw my car being ticketed and I had no opportunity to run out and explain the circumstances.

The owner was incredibly friendly to me while I was there. Felt like I was at home.

Good economic choice. My room was relatively small. But, there is another bigger room in the same house/hostel which I would consider in the future. Shared bathroom (and a very clean one), and parking is available on a close street. The place is not far from downtown Montreal. The host is a very kind lady. Merci :-)

Quaint little cottage on the corner of two quiet streets with a warm and wonderful staff. We stayed there for a few days during the middle of winter so the snow was plentiful and the cold was ever present but our room was warm and cozy and the staff was as pleasant, polite and as helpful as possible.

It’s a very cosy house that’s very nicely decorated. We enjoyed our time by the fire place with the cute puppy. Our room was extra comfy and clean and was equipped with a hair dryer, towels, several glasses, a water kettle, tea, coffee, crackers, and welcoming chocolates. The room also had a small tv.

This is a beautiful and cozy spot for a getaway. The rustic decor and atmosphere is warm and welcoming and we enjoyed the opportunity to chat and practice our French with the owner, Louise. Breakfast was delicious! The location was perfect, and just a few minutes walk to numerous shops and cafes. We will be travelling to Longueuil several times in the future and we will definitely make this our place to go.

Pleasant B&B, with all amenities. I will return the next time I have meetings in the area. The only issue I have is that the room was overflowing with knick-knacks, frills, supposed antiques. Every inch of floor was covered with furniture and every inch of wall space was covered with either dried flowers or ancient photos. Too busy on the eyes. But otherwise, it was fine, clean and even quiet, despite its location.

Close to lovely cafes and patisseries.Lovely room and host.

This b&b in a beautifully refurbished 1850s house, run by a very pleasant Quebeqoise, is well located in the Longueil section of Montreal.
