Highlight of our stay in Morocco. Easy walk to Medina. Easy and very close parking in garage (50MAD) per day or free on street. The arranged an excellent guide for our first day in Fez…highly recommended because he showed us how to get around and no one bothers you when with a guide. Food in Riad was best in Morocco and they had no problem catering to my veg gf diet. Staff Hassan and Omar were wonderful and spoke perfect English and French. Beautifully decorated and peaceful. Wonderful beds and copper bath tub! We will stay here next time in Fez for sure!

This Riad in the Medina of Fes is outstanding and has a magical atmosphere with a beautiful inner courtyard and a sunny patio. The service is excellent as well as the breakfast. We can also highly recommend the dinner. The staff was always helpful and really kind - just top notch. The room was very comfortable, large and clean. It is very centrally located so all the sights are in walking distance. We also felt really safe the whole time.
I would highly recommend this riad to everyone visiting Fes and we will definitely come back one day.

This Riad really is like a palace. The courtyard is a tranquil retreat from the outside world. The staff are genuinely friendly and speak great english. Breakfast was made to order. Room was large, clean and comfortable. Parking available in the garage next door.

Upon arrival, to my surprise, the room was spit between two floors bathroon in one & bedroom 20 plus upstairs flight. They offered me a so call suite for more but end up taking it for no additional charge. The place looks like an ancient museum but outdated with no real comfort in my suite. Excellent staff & outstanding service. Modest breakfast.

Beautiful property. Services are top-notch. Food is better than most restaurants in Fes, and the ambience push it above others. Highly recommend!

This is a truly lovely Riad. It’s like something out of a movie scene. It’s very well maintained and you get the privilege of benefiting from a truly beautiful courtyard and garden and gorgeous furniture and rooms. The service is excellent and very attentive. They have in house massage services which we tried which was really nice. It’s a good location too. A few minutes walk from the main square.

The property was absolutely beautiful with good AC in each room, hot water and good water pressure. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. I highly recommend this Riad! We went to a few others and I thought this was the most charming.

What a fantastic welcome to Fez. Amazing place, beautiful and the staff very friendly and happy, always talking to you with a smile and ready to make your experience unique. The place is very well taken care of and paying attention to every single detailed. Breakfast start at 8, but they didn’t hesitate to put it for us 30 mins earlier as we had to go to an excursion. The room was huge and extremely clean. Food was also fantastic and the breakfast got everything you can imagine of and more

The best! of the three riads in our week in Morocco, this one was by far the best. Dinner is to die for, service is outstanding, and the architecture is just a dream. Also, Fez is a great city, not as touristy as Marrakech with great architecture and atmosphere.

Experiencing the history and culture was enlightening and engaging the locals was fun. Be wary of the young men telling you you’re going the wrong way as a ruse to engage you in conversation, leading to offering to be your guide or simply to sell things.
I’d recommend pre-booking a professional guide as it’ll save you getting lost. A good guide will take the stress out and give you a better understanding of the people and culture.

Riad Al Bartal is a gorgeous hotel with remarkable service. We could not have found a better place to stay in Fes.
In advance of our arrival we worked with the staff to arrange a transfer from the bus station, dinner on our first night, and a guided tour the next morning, all of which ensured that our arrival was smooth and our first day enjoyable. The welcome tea and biscuits, along with the breakfast, were the best we’d received at any of the Riad’s in which we’d stayed during a two week tour through Morocco. Dinner was delicious. This, combined with a need to take it slow, led us to eat at the Riad all three nights and it was delightful.
Above all we were impressed by the staff, all of whom were incredibly accommodating. Everyone, especially Omar, went out of their way to make us comfortable during our stay. We were truly sad to leave them when we departed Fes.

The riad was beautiful. We arrived in the afternoon and was first led into a reception area next to the courtyard, which gives us a wonderful view of the beautiful courtyard. We were then greeted with some mint tea and biscuits which were lovely. The staffs were all warm and friendly, and was very helpful with carrying our luggages upstairs. The room was spacious, warm and tastefully decorated. It had a very high ceiling which we enjoyed very much. The bathroom was big and quite nicely decorated with paintings. The only thing about the bathroom that can be improved was the bath. There's no shower curtain which made it slightly inconvenient, and the drain was very slow. But overall we really liked the room. The mattress was firm and very comfortable. Lighting was good too. The courtyard is the highlight of the riad, it was absolutely beautiful with impressive mosaic and stone carvings that are in great condition. Enjoyed every second inside it. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety. We especially loved the Moroccan meloui. We would definitely recommend this riad to our family and friends.

This is a hidden gem in Fes. The staff were amazing, they explained the property and its history. Every tile is beautiful and captivating. We were upgraded to an amazing suite that was the nicest room we have had in our travels. The rooftop is the perfect place to sit and relax and watch the sunset, we could not be happier with this Riad!! Also breakfast was amazing. Highly recommend this Riad.

Let me just say this RIAD is one of the most beautiful RIADS you can stay. Everything is beautiful and clean, is like a hidden oasis. It is close to Medina in Fez (but it is not as safe as Marrakesh so I HIGHLY recommend a Guide, Medina in Fez is one of the biggest i the country, so be smart and get a guide) the check-in everything from begging to end. Omar was very helpful and I would definitely HIGHLY RECOMMEND them and stay here again.

This was a lovely raid with spacious rooms and a courtyard, great staff. Conveniently located just within the Medina. The room was exceeded my expectations, it was spacious and clean, we could open all our three pieces of luggage at the same time. Great breakfast and dinner, cause we were travelling during the Ramadan, we were so glad they could provide the delicious dinner.

The Riad is in Derb Ziat, a residential neighborhood within a 15 minute walk to Fes Medina. Excellent and helpful suggestions from Omar and Tariq. The green, lush courtyard and resident parrot complete the tranquil and charming atmosphere.

We had the most memorable time at Riad Al Bartal, where we stayed for 2 night. We loved everything about this Riad:
* the location - very close to the outer wall where we could meet our driver/catch a taxi or walking distance inside the Medina to restaurant and the Blue gate
* warm hospitality upon arrival (we came in late in the evening) that only became warmer and more caring as the time passed
* delicious food - eggplant/beef tagine dinner that was awaiting for us upon arrival on the 1st night, abundant breakfast on both the mornings served on local Moroccan ceramic plates that is very unique to the city of Fes
* amazing decor that made the place look and feel like we’re visiting a royal palace - with beds as comfortable as could possibly be, unique pieces of art, beautiful tiles, woodwork and plants everywhere
* beautiful rooftop terrace that is so high it enables to see the whole city
* owner’s bird Pauline that is out there singing all day and greeting people upon arrival
But most of all - warm and welcoming host Omar with whom the place comes alive with love, local character and feeling of home.
Thank you for having us! Well be back for sure - and will also recommend this place to all of our friends and family!

If somebody likes Riad living this place is very good. Helpful and friendly staff. Negatives from my point. No phone or TV in room. No coffeemaker. I would have liked to make a cup of coffee in morning.

My family and I absolutely loved this riad. Omar greeted us so warmly with a fresh pot of mint tea and homemade biscuits when we arrived and left us to really soak in the beauty of the property for a few minutes. He then went over some recommended places to visit and helped us to our room. The halls are lined with cool antique pieces that are fun to admire. When we arrived in the room, our mouths dropped. The amount of detail in the accents and accessories that decorated the room were amazing. Our favorite piece being the huge bathtub that resembled a cooking pot. Breakfast was okay, just some bread, that delicious mint tea, and fresh orange juice. We had requested to have dinner that night and they prepared us a beautiful tangine dinner. We had an early flight the next morning and arranged for a car to take us. Omar kindly requested one for us and offered to have some biscuits and tea ready before our departure, despite it being at 3am. Overall, Omar really helped to make us feel like we were family as opposed to guests staying at a hotel and because of that and the amazing decor and feel, my family and I would definatly return and recommend this place to anyone staying in Fez.

A stunning riad with exceptional staff. We had a family room with a luxury bathroom. We enjoyed all aspects of the riad but the highlights were the decor, the staff and the food. The lamb, almond and pear tagine was superb. We were greeted at 1am with mint tea and cakes, we left for a flight at 4am after being served a light breakfast. These details sum up the dedication of the staff.

Top of the line Riad, very well kept and nicely decorated. The 3 main reception staff were all friendly, attentive, helpful.
Riad location is pretty ok, near parking areas if you are driving. Waling to the main Medina areas is about 15-20 minutes away. Riad staff can arrange airport and train station pickup.
Breakfasts and one dinner we had there were acceptable and good. One other evening at the nearby more famous Fes spa and resort was quite bad in comparison.
I do recommend this Riad for Fes.

From the staff to the facility this place is extraordinary. By far my best "hotel" experience in all of Morocco. The rooms are beautiful and clean, and spacious. The staff bent over backwards to make sure my stay was amazing. The food is superb. Staying at this Riad was a highlight of my trip!

Me and my husband stayed in this elegant riad for 9 nights (28th Dec till 6th Jan 2017). It is situated in Medina yet stone trough from Bab Ziat which means the taxi can get right to the door of riad unlike many other riads in Medina. It is also 10 min walk to Bab Bou Jeloud-the main gate to the Medina. The riad itself is beautiful and tastefully furnished, fitting its magnificent architecture. The roof garden with its comfortable furniture is excellent for sun-bathing or reading in peace. Our bed was comfortable the shower excellent and hot water always available. We ate in the riad every night as the chef Fatima is the best introduction to Moroccan cooking we have been previously to morocco and have eaten in various restaurants but non compared to Fatima’s cooking (also very reasonably priced). The staff are all friendly and helpful. As for the manager Omar what shall I say? He is a friendly and caring person, affluent in French and English language, knowledgeable about almost everything, a lover of his job and dedicated to helping the visitors. We recommend this friendly and comfortable and elegant riad.
