Nice place but noisy at night and morning. Tv doesn’t work well, two remotes and incoherent directions. Very good restaurant and basket of breakfast items delivered to your door in am. Nice areas to walk or bike to in town

My wife and I have stayed at American Beech multiple times. It’s a great hotel rooms top quality. Definitely the best value in Greenport. We have stayed at every hotel in town and AB is our favorite. Highly recommend!

This place was fantastic! The grounds and the room were immaculate. The concierge Milly was very friendly and accommodating. She kept me abreast of everything. I definitely plan on coming back. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

It was really great. I love the bar that they had there and it was in a great location where so many things were walkable and the free bikes and beach towels is also a nice touch. I would definitely go there again.

A guests worst nightmare. Don’t stay at this hotel
The staff and GM lack decency for their hotel guests and won’t disclose if the hotel has been rented out for a large scale event. If the rooms aren’t completely blocked out, beware, you could be exiled to your room of the 13 room hotel, as the square will be closed to non- event guests. You cannot use the hotel bar, restaurants, any of the restaurants in the square and imagine a large event is steps away from your room, dance floor, dj and announcements at full blast for 5 hours. The hotel did not respond a week after I left several messages for them and the staff on site during our stay did not have a plan for their paying guest not part of the event and never disclosed this information at any time during our stay. They refused to acknowledge a large scale private event that closed out the hotel and surroundings spaces would be an inconvenience to their other guests. Can you imagine?!

We stayed during the final night before move into our new house wanting a quiet night before the move. What we discovered is that there is a bar located below the room and an outdoor cafe below the window. The hotel room throbbed with the bass of the music late into the night. It was a miserable stay. If you are at all health conscious, you won’t enjoy the breakfast and will want to skip it and go out. It was, overall, a miserable stay.

A beautiful and very relaxing place to stay. Really appreciated the little touches like a breakfast basket delivered to your doorstep in the morning! Very friendly and helpful staff too. Perfect place for a Long Island getaway!

We live locally but wanted to try it out in the off season for a quick staycation. Our stay was a sweet treat! Inviting decor and we enjoyed our breakfast in bed. We made mimosas with the fresh OJ!

It was a lovely stay around NYE celebrations. The staff was very responsive, just wish they would seemed a bit happier to be there. Hard to find anyone with a smile.
We tried to engage in conversations to let them know we appreciated them but maybe the management team needs to have a team building or take the team for dinner or something. And cheer everyone up!

We loved our stay here! We wanted a quiet, quick local getaway and this was the perfect place. The staff was extremely nice and the room was clean and fun. The breakfast basket delivered to the room was the cutest. We will definitely be visiting again.

Avoid this hotel if you go to sleep before 3 am. Our room was above an empty storefront or so I thought. It turned into a bar at night and we had to listen to people yelling and the door opening and closing until 3 am. In addition, there are outdoor bars with live music on the property. We couldn’t sleep and checked out a day early but the hotel wouldn’t refund our money, relying on something we signed saying we wouldn’t be refunded if we left early. We didn’t expect that the conditions would be so bad that we had to check out, we had not planned on it. We lost $850 and a night of our vacation because the hotel was deceptive in its description of the property. Luxury to me usually means being able to sleep at a decent hour.
If you are over 25 or go to sleep before 3 am, avoid this hotel. It’s a shame because the rooms are nice and the property is nice during the day. What they don’t tell you is that you essentially are living in the middle of a bar at night. The management acts like it advises you of the noise on the website. It is deceptive by putting in one line under a room stating where the room is located. That does NOT state you can’t sleep.

We must express our deep dissatisfaction with our stay at American Beech. Throughout our extensive travels, we have never encountered a situation where our accommodations were situated directly above a bar and restaurant, where you could hear every sound. There is no sound proofing or attempt to minimize the noise. The continuous music and loud noise, which commenced at 5pm and persisted until well after 1am, rendered it impossible for us to focus on work or get a restful night's sleep.

Have been coming here for years. At least once a year and sometimes twice a year. Unfortunately will never book this hotel again. While the hotel is clean and modern, They have cut staff making finding help when you need it almost impossible. Depending on which room you are placed in, you could be subject to loud music until 1am. And while it does state this on their website many people book through third party sites. The worst part is they are extremely unapologetic and unhelpful when addressing issues and complaints. The staff is probably over worked and underpaid and it comes through in the overall attitude. There are many new and exciting hotels in the area and I am excited to try them.

The decor inside the rooms and inside the hotel, bar and boutique are so fun and unique. The picnic basket breakfast delivered to our door was a really nice way to wake up and start the day. Greenport is so cute, even in winter. Highly recommend.

Kayla at the front desk was fantastic.
The room was located in a separate building from the front desk, just around the corner. Ample street parking because its off season & I traveled on a dead weekday. I was kind of bummed the restaurant in the hotel wasn't open, I was under the impression they were going to stay open weekdays after LDW.
Room was nicely appointed, did find hair in the bathroom sink but otherwise spotless. Hotel is dog friendly, but you will be charged if youve been found to leave the dog alone in the room for any length of time. Otherwise pets were welcome. Close to all restaurants & shopping. Pretty area to walk your pets all around the back of the hotel. Awesome retail store in the lobby. Great breakfast, comes to your door in the morning in a very charming wicker basket. Fresh coffee, bagels, yogurt, fruit, jam, granola. Frette robes & italian soaps. The room had a coffee pot, with espresso & regular coffee, fully stocked mini bar with local wines, very clean glassware. Perfect stay on the off season, great value.

Wonderful hotel, located in a great location. Enjoy, you are going to like it. Oh and by the way it’s not far from the ferry that takes one over to Shelter Island. Drive, Bike or Walk to Shelter.

Great place to stay for a travelling break - hotel environment, unfortunately too many closed boutiques and restaurants early week days (Monday to Wednesday). Staff is great and we felt welcomed.

Wonderful location and cool place to stay. But I chose this location because they are a bar and restaurant on-site. Both were closed when we arrived, we were never given a heads up or even told when we checked in - doors to restaurant were just locked at around 7:30 pm!

For $500 dollars a night,we expected more than a dark bare bones hotel room. Upon checking in, we were basically handed a room key and directed to a building 2 doors away. The window unit air conditioning was loud and the filter was dirty. The bathroom was clean probably because the cleaning person could see the space…unlike the dark crowded bedroom area. The last night of our stay, the young lady at the front desk was pleasant… the other employee was rude and offered no information about the area, tours, and restaurants etc.We were given a sheet telling us about a few delivery out options and 2 or 3 places to dine.I actually called the hotel days before arriving and asked if it was a nice room accommodation and was told that this was the room Hotels.com booked for us and there were absolutely no other nicer rooms available. The employee that we spoke to on our last night, agreed that for what we were paying for 3 nights, we should have been offered one of their larger rooms. However, she had no authority to correct Hotels.com’s booking. That evening, she said we could move to one of the nicer rooms( no other rooms available for our stay?) At that point,we were leaving the next morning, my husband said he didn’t feel up to carrying our luggage down the steep flight of steps and then carrying them around the block to another location( ie. be prepared to do everything on your own!)… we have traveled extensively world wide… we were looking forward to much more!

The hotel has a great cozy feel, our room was large and well appointed. All rooms appear to be up narrow and steep stairs so this property wouldn't be appropriate for small children or anyone with mobility issues. Beds were very comfortable. Shower was a little too small. There was no light for the second set of stairs to our room which was a bit of a hazard. We also ate at the restaurant and would have spent more time there but they blast the same electronic music from sun up to well after sun down (truly, one beat, very loud, never changed in three days - read your target market a bit better, there wasn't anyone staying on site under 40).
