I stay in business-class hotels 3 weeks a month, so when on vacation, we choose small, low-key, simple places to stay. We also travel to the Keys quite regularly, and prefer Key Largo because of its laid back atmosphere vs other places further down the Keys. Drift is a great little gem. The rooms are simple, yet clean and the outdoor areas are very well taken care of. The entire vibe of the place is super chill, and during this most recent stay of 6 nights, we came to love the little roadside motel. The sand area by the water is ample and the dock shows regular maintenance with some deck chairs to relax under the shade covers. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and it's a short drive or walk to nearby eateries. They have kayaks, bikes and a SUP free to use. We used the kayaks as did others. The entire place only has 21 rooms, so we never felt the least bit crowded and, in fact, despite being full each night, we usually had, or nearly had the beach area and dock to ourselves during the day.
Would we stay there again? Absolutely. Very reasonably priced and the opposite of pretentious. So, if you are looking for a ritzy resort feel, this isn't it.
As for suggestions, the kayaks were free, but sized for small to medium framed people, so it would be good to have some larger, longer kayaks, and even a two-person kayak as options.
Otherwise, Drift is an awesome, chill spot to hang for an evening, or a week, and someplace we will stay again!

What an oasis!
Friendly, helpful staff.
Spacious rooms with kitchenette.
Relaxing, laid back vibe.
Nice grounds. There is a private inviting water access with use of kayaks and standup paddleboard. A fantastic dock to relax on and take in the view.

Every employee I had contact with was helpful and courteous. They even had actual silverware I could borrow when my takeout order was missing a fork and knife. Bed was super comfy and loved the updated bathroom. This hotel is quite old but totally updated and had just the vibe I was looking for. Beautiful sunsets!

I,d liken this to a prison cell, room descrbed as WONDERFUL i think that should of read woeful, avoid like the plague, £100/night is a joke, i wouldn't stay here if you gave me a 100, stayed in a hyatt for same price and difference was light tears apart

This was a last minute booking for us and it was SO amazing we wish we had more time! The staff were incredibly accommodating to let us check in early after a very busy work trip and we appreciated it so much! They gave us towels and snorkel gear and we enjoyed the beach, snorkeling right off the dock and the most relaxing area steps from our room. It was quiet and the beds were super comfortable. Loved it!

the staff was really nice, the rooms are recently updated and clean, there is a dock that jets out into the Gulf with chairs and a little reef for snorkeling under it. They offer bikes, kayaks, and a paddleboard to use. Stunning sunsets right from the property.

Arrived after hours. Easy enough adjustment for no evening employees. Great after hours communications. Had a slight glitch upon arrival, but easily handled. Love the location; and they have their own beach to enjoy

What a gem! We absolutely loved it here! The staff is so friendly, everyone you encounter! The rooms are updated, clean, cute and nicely stocked. The grounds are beautiful! The trees, lights, murals, day or night, it’s breathtaking! The beach and dock is your private little oasis! The complimentary kayaks, paddle board and bikes were so nice to be able to use. You could see so much sea life as you were standing on the dock. Even coral and starfish under the dock. We will definitely be staying here again when we are back in Key Largo!

Fantastic relaxing getaway. Chill place to hang out. Nice waterfront and swimming activities. Not posh by any means, but clean, friendly and comfortable accommodations. You will need to drive for food, so plan accordingly. Super friendly staff. I will definitely come back.

This was our 3rd visit and things have gone downhill. We had to wait over an hour for our room to be ready. The bikes were unsafe to ride and the kayak had a slow leak. We loved this place but might have to tey someplace else next visit

The place was expected, the staff are friendly and accommodating and clean, maybe too clean as the cleaning lady use a very strong disinfectant to clean the room. Once the room as available, we walked in and instantly, you can sense the irritating cleaning chemical. My nostrils and eyes starting to irritate. I tried to open the doors and window to get some fresh air into the room. Can't be done too long since the window and doors does not have bugs screen. Booked for 3 nights but ran out after 2 night and still suffering from intense chemical burn on my nostrils. Other than this bad personal experience, the Drift hotel is good overall.

Bathroom needs a shelf, microwave, dresser, and a grab bar to facilitate entering and leaving beach.

Quaint, clean and comfortable. Nice little private beach with free kayaking.

Bathroom not properly cleaned & no beach towels available. Door to lock room very old and required manipulation. Numerous electrical sockets did not work - I did report. Beautiful location and small beach area. Pictures on instagram do overplay how old and shabby the rooms are in parts, or maybe I got unlucky.

I loved our first time at Drift! It was tucked away but still so close to everything! You really cant beat the free use of water toys and the stunning views from the beach. The whole property was like a little slice of paradise. Everyone was so friendly as well!

We love this place. We rent one of the bigger rooms closer to the beach each time we come. The beach area is beautiful, the rooms are always spotless, and most of the staff are wonderful.
The big groups that come in and try and take over the beach are annoying but it only happened a few days and doesn’t really reflect on the motel.
Will definitely be going back again next year and recommend that people give it a chance!

Not restaurant or snack machines around. Place to disconnect, you will have to drive around to get any type of food. Frigde but not microwave. Although i believe there are options with a small kitchenette
