The hotel was a welcone change from the large chain hotels. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and well positioned for site seeing. Also was nice and quiet for working sometimes during the stay

Was ok

The staff without exception from the minute we arrived where happy, helpful, and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was great and the Breakfast and Dinner were excellent. The reception rooms were bright and cheery.

It was nice friendly, clean hotel in a handy position fir the town snd the harbour.
3.6
All in all an ok stay, breakfast was great. Room was small but all ok. Staff were friendly and helpful. Main complaint was that no main bar area open, small lounge open and the staircase on our floor smelt or urine which was very off putting on arrival. At a guess I would say this would be down to the amount of dogs in the hotel on high floors

Cheap and pet friendly stay

The room is out of hot water and the shower tray is clogged. I ask the front desk for a fix or change of room at 11:00pm but the night shift manager said he cannot help, cannot change the room because he cannot access the system. I believe it is a lie. And he asked me to wait till the next day 07:30 when the General Manager is on duty. And he suggest me to have a bath tomorrow.
I insist to have the GM for help and the night shift manager threatened me that if I wake her up, she will tell me to pack up !!. I insisted to have her help cos I am desperate. When the GM showed up, what she said is totally disappointed. The help / advice she provided are
1) Blamed me for waking her up at 11:30. But technically it is not me who woke her up. It is her night shift manager woke her up because he could not handle the issue.
2) packed up and go and she will refund me
3) come back at 07:30am but the fixing of hot water supply is not guaranteed
4) A change of room is not guaranteed on the next day.
So, I just pack up and stay at another hotel

Checked in, went to room someone already in there. Reception quickly apologised and 20 minutes later found us a room. Room fine but bed very uncomfortable and cobwebs in windows.Breakfast was really good but quality of coffee was weak and tasteless.

We had a couple of maintenance issues with the bathroom. The shower holder was loose, and the lighting was minimal, only 1 of the 3 bulbs were working. As a result of the poor lighting, the cleaning staff failing to clean the shower properly.
Due to the lack of maintenance staff in the evening, I assisted in the replacement of one of the bulbs, as the concierge would have needed a step ladder to do it. However, despite these challenges, we had a great time, the staff were exceptional, very friendly and helpful, and the biggest plus for us was they were pet friendly. The night concierge was particularly friendly and extremely generous toward our Border Collie, Bodger, who in turn appreciated all the treats. With a bit more investment in the fabric of the building, both internally and externally, the proprietor will have a great little business on their hands.

The place is exactly what it says on the tin and the price reflects what you get. I would say that the blonde lady on the front desk is an angel and most helpful to me flying in from Barcelona for a wedding at tunnels beach. She is the best.

We tried to check in at the hotel only to be told they had no booking for us as the room had been cancelled, following a slight debate and showing proof of booking and payment they eventually accepted our booking. However we were down graded to a twin room with 2 single beds.
We were very disappointed with the room as the carpets were dirty and stained and the square toilet had a round toilet seat that was badly fitted.
We made the most of our stay by spending as little time in the hotel as possible as due to it being bank holiday weekend we were not left with many other options.
On a brighter note Breakfast was reasonable and the waiting staff were fantastic.
3.6
Large hotel doing B&B at a reasonable price. Very central to Ilfracombe with easy walking to Tunnel Beaches and the Harbour. Very few parking facilities but Jubilee Gardens car park is close by - busy in summer. The room, facing the street, was in fact very quiet.
3.6
Booked as a last minute stop off, really friendly staff, breakfast was lovely, overall though the hotel is a bit tired but for the price more than acceptable.
I would stay again as a single guest

The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Staff at breakfast not so good. No spoon to stir coffee, no separate knife for butter and as it was our first stay we had to ask what to do.

Spacious, comfortable, clean and a decent breakfast

Clean and tidy and had a lovely stay thank you to all the staff

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful the room was spacious slightly out dated but comfortable for a little break the bad thing was parking we had to find parking on street or car park nearby
3.6
Staff very helpful only criticism room very hot and no help with the window open, shouldn’t complain as we don’t have that sort of weather normally
3.6
All staff were so welcoming & really looked after us.. absolutely great to my little doggie & would definitely recommend!
3.6
Lovely little hotel. Although a little dated, the rooms were very modern and comfortable.
Ideal location right on the front of Ilfracombe. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return.

We booked the same day on impulse for 2 nights but ended up staying 3. There is parking at £6 a night but only a few places. There is free on street parking further up the hill if you are fit. We didnt sample the food, but if you want breakfast its cheaper to book in advance. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a goid position for the beaches and harbour and tgere is a nice Wetherspoons just down the road
3.6
On arrival welcoming instructions were very abrupt, there is actually no parking at the hotel as advertised, all parking is on the street, only free at weekend. Walking upstairs you see worn carpets dirtiness and very old decore, some areas of water damage. In our room one chair was dirty and badly worn, window frame was wrapped and would not close properly. The floors are creaky and you can here them above and outside you room with people moving around. Decor in the room was poor. Bed was comfy, sheets and towels clean and fresh. Breakfast was reasonable.
3.6
Lobby stunk of cigarettes. Room did every once in a while. Came in from somewhere. Room on street. Car noise. Seagull noise at 4am on. Tiny room. Tub shower. THin walls.
3.6
Friendly greeting. Room face plenty of room. Good shower. Early breakfast provided as per my request.
3.6
Check in time at 3.00 pm is too late and my room wasn't even ready by then. They gave me another room which was absolutely filthy and when I complained, I was told to take it up with expedia.
3.6
Excellent hospitality. Friendly staff, very spacious room. Decent breakfast.
3.6
Friendly and helpful staff

Needs a bit more renovation but its clean and fresh, the staff are great and so was the breakfast
3.6
Reception was shocking no info given . Room was so hot didnt sleep had windows open and fan but still couldnt turn heating off not surprisingly because of the damb on ceilings . Shower in the morning was freezing no hot water . Then go for breakfast was a task noone on Reception to tell us where to go finally found room where we had to wait for table to be cleaned and tbh the breakfast was definitely not up to scratch i would rather go to a rusty spoon somewhere all in all wouldnt stop here again and this is the 1st time in 50 years ive left somewhere with nothing but bad bad bad

We went away with friends for the weekend on arriving at the hotel we had on our paperwork a 2 hour early check in but the receptionist said she had never heard of it before and after sometime found 2 rooms for us . Overall the staff seemed unfriendly . Was told it would be a buffet style breakfast but it wasn’t. The ceiling was nearly coming down in one of the bedroom’s
the bathroom door did not close in the other room . The lift took forever. Glad we were only stayed for 2 nights. Was told there would be entertainment in the evening but there was none.
Would not recommend this hotel it is very tired looking and needs a vast amount of decorating and repair.
3.6
We stayed in a lovely family room. It was big, clean and tidy. The beds were comfortable and the staff were friendly. We’d stay here again.
3.6
Large and dated hotel that mainly caters for Coach parties. As an overnight stay for my wife and I it was adequate and cheap but the place could do with a make-over. Carpet are worn, wallpaper sagging and woodwork fading. The room was of a reasonable size and we could just about see the sea. Bed was comfortable and clean. Bathroom was dated and felt a bit grubby but everything worked so OK. Breakfast was at extra cost.
3.6
Weekend away with the other half. Overall good hotel and well worth the money.
Staff all very friendly and good breakfast.
Halls and the room were especially hot at night, not sure if just a malfunction with the heating!
Parking situation was a little frustrating as the listing says ‘first come first served’ but when we arrived several spaces had been reserved for people who booked ahead so we paid for the car park down the road.
3.6
Lovely location, staff were very helpful. The beds were lovely!! Could maybe do with air con but other than that all round very good
3.6
Hotel slightly dated compared to pictures, rooms were very hot.
