Very disappointed roof top restaurant was privately booked all weekend, which the hotel describes as a key feature and was considered while booking. Asked for refund in first hour to move hotel but was refused. Asked for access to wine and cigar bar, again refused. Hotel is showing signs of wear and tear, scratched walls, worn carpet in room.

I absolutely LOVED this hotel. I am an extensive world business traveler and have stayed in many, many hotels around the world and I would rate this at the very top of anywhere I've stayed. Helpful, polite and personable staff. The location is ideal, being close to the Bund but tucked away off the main road so that it felt like a sanctuary from bustling Shanghai. Conveniently located to transportation and restaurants and shopping. The rooms are amazing. All the amenities you'd ever want and they are so beautiful and luxurious. This is a true 5 star hotel and you will not be disappointed, you will be thrilled with the choice to stay here. I'll be back for my next stay in Shanghai. This hotel is AMAZING!!!

Hotel is perfect - quite over the top opulent design inside, which felt quite fun for this trip. Could not fault anything about the room - the bed was the best Ive slept on in a hotel, and the whole room was well laid out and spacious, with an excellent shower too. It is a little further down the Bund than I would have preferred but still a decent area and only a short walk to Yu Gardens too.

Orbitz reservation confirmation said the hotel had a 24 hour shuttle pickup from the airport- after arriving in China, the hotel said it was not true and I had to pay for a taxi. That was aggravating enough, but I was also told I could exchange my US money at the hotel for Chinese yuan. This proved to be quite difficult, especially after 5 pm- they did eventually allow me to exchange money, but in small amounts. The suite was overall very nice, though dated in appearance. Staff were otherwise fine. Breakfast options were adequate, but not great, if you prefer Western breakfast. I cannot understand how this hotel thinks it is 7 star- no where close to our experience at the Burj Al Arab in Dubai; not even close to the Ritz Carlton Shanghai, which we also visited.

Beautiful hotel. Service is terrible with a notable exception of Miranda who is a delight. Nobody speaks English. Rude. No training. Food is very mediocre. Not what you expect for a 5 star hotel. Money doesn't improvise class.

I was initially excited to stay in Wanda as it’s a seven star hotel. Hence I arrived with high expectations. However I arrived at 7am and despite the room was vacant and also I have booked it for six nights they insisted on charging me a half day WALK IN rate. On top of that they messed up my delivery items to the hotel. The worst part was a Friend visited me at the hotel And of course the hotel and I had to approve for her to enter my room. When we came back at night there was a security that rudely asked which room we were from and said my friend needed to register. However when another group of people came into the hotel they weren’t questioned at all. Hence I’m wondering if they discriminate against non Chinese people. My first day was an horrible experience but I had pre paid for six nights and it was not refundable so I had to carry on my stay. I had never have any of the abovementioned problems is any luxury hotel in China. I have to say the design and amenities of the hotel and it’s room is fantastic. The bar with an al fresco bview is nice however the standard of the staff is appalling. I would highly advise anyone not to stay in this hotel. It will be better to just head to the bar or restaurant and admire the interior. Staying here will just make your stay a hassle and you will be unhappy most of the time. For this price any other luxury hotel will provide you with a better and memorable stay.

The room had a very nice view, but the air condition system wasn't working. The room was very cold. The breakfast was limited, I expected more choices. The selection of western style breakfast was very little and the quality of what was present not impressive.
My wife and I were quite disappointed with the stay. Considering the price and location, we expected more.
We will not recommend this hotel to our friends and our company will definitely not use Wanda Reign for customers visiting Shanghai.

I loved this hotel. My daughter and I were wrapping up our 12 days travels through China. We decided to stay in Shanghai for a few days before returning home. We found this hotel on Expedia and the price was reasonable. The hotel was beautiful. The staff was amazing and really worked hard to make our stay perfect. I would highly recommend staying here anytime you are considering Shanghai!

This is an amazing hotel located in the very convenient part of the city. The service is exemplary and better than Four Seasons, Fairmont, and the like. We were a bit nervous after our local friends in Shanghai told us they had never heard of this hotel and urged us to consider changing our reservation to a better known brand. I'm lucky that we decided to just keep our reservation at the Wanda Reign. In fact, it's one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed at (i travel internationally moderately often- once or twice per month). The Hotel itself is very luxurious but the decor is a bit odd. Apart from one art piece at the Japanese restaurant, all the art decoration is by famous Chinese artists. They are going for an Art Deco theme, reminiscent of the 1930's. Some of the flooring (e.g., roof top lounge) is actually a form of jade which is translucent (and it's lit from underneath). Shanghai has had a luxury hotel building frenzy over the past couple of years, so watch for promotional rates at luxury hotels such as the WR. In fact, after we booked and pre-paid this hotel, they had a promotion on, so we cancelled our original reservation and rebooked at the better rate. By the way, have at least one drink at the roof top bar. The city view of the night lights is pretty amazing, although the cocktails are moderately pricey. Hong Kong is small compared to Shanghai! The people in Shanghai were generally very friendly and helpful, but the staff at the WR were amazing!

Wonderful looking new hotel on the Bund however lower your expectations if your a over sea tourists as this hotel finds it difficult to cater to westerners. The staff have a low level of English including no English menu at the Japanese restaurant. On the positive side it only takes one Staff member to make a difference so thank you to Jamel as he tried very hard to provide the service that was lacking from my stay.
