The hotel is located in the famous Kemeralti Market so shops and restaurants are literally right outside the door. Izmir landmarks such as the clock tower are a few minutes walk away. The staff is friendly, the breakfast is good and the place is kept clean. We had an early morning tour to Ephesus and they were even able to supply us with a sandwich and drink to take on the road
However there are a few things that a traveller needs to be aware of:
1) Because the hotel is inside the market, taxis may not be able to bring you right to the door because of the narrow streets and crowds in the market. It is about a 100 meter walk from the main street to the hotel.
2) The hotel is constructed around a courtyard restaurant that hosts live music every night starting from 8 pm and stopping promptly at 11 pm
3) The rooms are not highly sound insulated so you can hear the music outside and the kids in the room next door.
We had a great experience at L'Agora Old Town Hotel. If these things are mentioned do not concern you, I would not hesitate to recommend staying at there.

The location itself is beautiful but it’s in the middle of the bazaar which is abandoned at night and not near anything else. Because the restaurant (which I would suggest eating at rather than staying here) is in the courtyard there is a constant din of people and live music until 11pm. I could hear people still up talking and smoking upstairs until 1am on a Tuesday night.

Friendly staff with limited English. Lively live music in the hotel restaurant . Air conditioning switches off when the lights go off making for a warm night’s sleep.

Overpriced for a hostel - definitely not upscale as described. There is no garden - but we had paid for “deluxe garden view” room - no such thing. Dirty, tacky furnishings, dead plants everywhere. Vile misogynist men hanging around outside the entrance. Our companions checked out for a room that did not smell of fish (from the market below) in a safer hotel.

Great location for walking, in the middle of the bazaar, great staff, clean facility, would definitely stay their again

Agora is located in the old city and has a unique restaurant that has live music. If you want to discover the old medina, it is definitely the place to be.

Unique hotel. It can we a bit loud from the restaurant at night but we enjoyed our stay.

This was a great hotel experience! The young staff were amazing, spoke fluent English, and really cared for you. Do yourself a favor and accept their room walk-through when you first check in. They will show you how to work the shower and the air conditioning, which both need instructions to work optimally. Generally, you have to run the hot water for a bit before it gets really hot. And you have to wait for the AC to kick in. So be patient. Water pressure is always amazing and you can get your room to feel like an ice box if you know how to operate your AC unit. Breakfast is delicious every morning. Lots of fresh breads, cheeses, fruits and veggies plus hot options (fried peppers and mushrooms, sausage, and delicious scrambled eggs shakshuka). Yes, every night there is live music in the courtyard restaurant, but it always stops at 11 pm. The restaurant has an excellent menu with an impressive wine list (try Narince wine, local Turkish grape, yummy). Do know that this hotel is housed in a historic building on the edge of the bazaar that used to be an inn long time ago. It is located on Havra Street, which is known as the Synagogue Street (used to be a Jewish neighborhood). Outside of the hotel, there is a food market (yes, with a few fish mongers -- but you never smell the fish at the hotel, just on the way to it) with lots of fresh produce, traditional sweets, and spices. Overall, you could not ask for a better location!

L’Agora Old Town Hotel was right in the center of Kemeraltı Bazaar, which was amazingly convenient. Shops and food all around, but the best food and environment was at L’Agora itself. The room was a good size and clean. We loved our stay at L’Agora!

It’s a lovely place for stay, the restaurant is amazing too. The manager from reception Turker who is super nice and helpful, thanks a lot for everything.

The hotel has a lovely decor with a courtyard in between that houses a nice cafe. The room I was in was decent sized with a nice bathroom. My room had double doors and I can understand why, as there is live music every evening.
It is a lively hotel and right inside the famous Kemeralti bazaar of Izmir. So, you can shop as soon as you step out of the hotel. The only downside is that just next to the hotel is the fish market and the fishy smell wafts right in if you are eating at the cafe. Also, not all taxi drivers know that there is a back lane to reach the hotel, so they just drop you outside the bazaar for you to pull your luggage through the bazaar to the hotel.

Location is great. It's far from the cool area of Izmir but if you want to be in the middle of all the shopping/historical action, this is the best place. It has a very cute central open air area which is also the restaurants. Bed was comfy and room was clean.

Our room was very clean and comfortable. The evening music in the central courtyard might be an issue for an early sleeper. However, the excellent service and friendliness of the staff more than make up for any shortcoming. Each and every member were commendable, and Turker really stood out as an exceptional manager/concierge.

The L’Agora is a nice hotel in the middle of a chaotic and kaleidoscopic area. We packed the mile from the train station and made our way through the fishmarket, and suddenly there was a little entrance to a cool courtyard with cafe tables and dining service. It was so unusual. The area around the hotel is a bazaar, but the hotel property feels safe and is a pleasant place for a beer or glass of wine outside your room. Checkin and check out are easy. The room is nice, and it is clean. There is sound coming from the courtyard, but we were not bothered by that. We had an ill advised ekmek in the market, do we did not try the restaurant food.
I really liked the atmosphere and I liked the energy of the surroundings, but I admit it is not for everyone

Great Authentic hotel and great location in middle of bazaar for truly authentic experience. Food was very good and and live music each day.
The staff were amazing, would definitely stay at this hotel again

For a hotel in the midst of the old town bazaar area this is tops. The hotel is charming, first-class in service and amenities, with an excellent restaurant (and bar). The staff are totally committed to making your experience the best. We loved it.

The hotel courtyard was a place of refuge from the hustle and bussel of old town Izmir. However, we stayed two nights and neither of us slept well. The cigarette smoke from the restaurant courtyard, as well as the smoke from the people on the balcony invariably came into ou room. The room had no windows to allow for fresh air and the room fan and air conditioner were not working. The room temperature monitor read 30 degrees celsius. The shower offered plenty of hot water but the shower neck was broken making it awkward to shower. The towel rack fell off the wall...the room however was clean and the staff very friendly. Our waiter was charming. But, sadly I would not recommend staying here unless cigarette smoke and hot rooms appeal to you.

If you want to feel the real atmosphere of the old Izmir this is the place to go
It is a bit noisy since the restaurant downstairs plays music every night
The staff is very friendly

Rooms are very clean and restaurant has decent food. It’s inside of the kemeralti market - so don’t be alarmed when you see that you have to walk through the market to get there/ your cab will likely take you from behind the building.

Hotel was fine. Although we are hotels.com VIP we neither got an upgrade *not always available i know) not a bottle of wine.
The room for a family of 4 was not great. There was a sofa bed and it was very small for the two children. They did not sleep well.
There was also a band that played late into the night, we were told on arrival but at that point there was nothing we could do about it.
There was work going on it the attic over our room, this was very disconcerting.

Really nice staff and can help you with anything you need. Except for breakfast, all the services at the restaurant level will be at an extra charge but the price is all reasonable.

Unique courtyard hotel in the main bazaar of the old town. Lively cafe in the courtyard. Room luxurious.

Enjoyed it. Awesome place. The only thing I would say that if you are someone that likes quiet nights, then this may not be a good place for you. Because it is very lively and the restaurants open late so you will hear a lot of noise.

Unique hotel conveniently situated to walk around Konak. Very comfortable room, good linen and super shower all very clean. We really liked the balcony to sit and overlook the courtyard.Live music every evening. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We had a most enjoyable 5 night stay and would definately return when we are in ızmir again.

Well, locals friend asked me to book at Swiss hotel again. I wanted to experience something else (more local) for the rest of our trip and waw!!!!
I fully recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, kindness of staff (real mood not a commercial one), well location... Just thank you to all of you. They even prepared a small bag with breakfast as we were going to leave at 1.3 AM and this without asking anything to them. We will be back in September for sure TACHAKULAR

10 nights stay in December 2022
Location: In heart of a busy bazaar and adjacent to a fish market.
Check-in: Smooth
Room: Quiet at nights, comfortable bed, and clean sheets, however, no safe box and no window to natural light. Most rooms’ windows opens to hotel’s so-called open-air central restaurant. Its ceiling is tightly covered and has limited ventilation while smoking is allowed. So if you open your room’s window, you may get bothered by heavy smoking smell.
Breakfast: Basic menu. Nothing hot, no toaster, no sausages or hot eggs and milk, and no juices on the tables. They bring you coffee or tea. You may ask for omelet if you know it in advance..
Check-out: Waited for about 15 minutes because of their own registration mistake. Afterward, they tried to charge me a fee for breakfast’s coffee, tea and omelet but I told them I should have been notified in advance for the charges. Eventually, they did not charge me.
Issues:
1- Loose wall lamp over a bedside table. They did not fix it and just said, “Don’t worry, it won’t fall!”
2- Horrible squeak of bathroom door’s hinge. Partially fixed after a few times of speaking with reception.
3- Toilet flusher malfunction. I had to hold it for half a minute. Not fixed.
4- Hot water shut off one night around 4 am. Found out when I could not sleep and went for a shower. The next morning, I asked reception for an explanation. They simply said, “You can take shower now.”
5- Not replying my email sent one week before arriving at the hotel

Nice food in the restaurant. But they had a loud band with drums playing until about 11pm, and I wanted to sleep at 9:30. Very inconsiderate. Staff were nice and friendly. In old market area.

The hotel was excellent! However, it pretty much is surrounded by either a bazaar or fish market.

Charming hotel with spacious clean rooms live night entertainment. friendly staff and receptionist. Only negative aspect is the access to the hotel. If you are driving, you have to leave your car at private parking lot and walk 10 minutes through old dirty side streets. The view from the Tom’s was not great as well.

Super hotel with lovely staff. Would easily recommend this hotel to anyone. Please note that in the description the rooms are listed as soundproof ..... they are not but this would not out us off staying again
3.0 / 10.0
If you like to immerse yourself gently into the environment, this hotel is great. Friendly and attentive staff. Hard to get to with a van...you'll walk a little or a lot, depending on your driver, as it's truly in the heart of the market. The open-air atrium is open for business, including loud music, until about 11pm daily. The wedding party Saturday played until 11:30pm, so loudly we could not hear our TV at full volume in our room! And there is a LOT of smoking in Anatolia, which you're aware of immediately outside your room and in the entire atrium area. A/C was super strong, bed was firm, room bottled water was replaced daily. Some mechanical maintenance shortfalls (bidet knob broken, 2 inop minor light switches), but again, if you're staying here, you want something a little less chic. Breakfast was passable, although you have to hunt for serving utensils...again, part of the experience.
