This is one of the most beautiful, amazing and unique properties I have ever had the pleasure of staying at. From the moment you drive up the driveway to the large beautiful Tuscan style house you know you have made the right choice in lodging. The large great room, is incredible. Words can’t do it justice. Chet and Jill and the most amazing hosts you will ever encounter. The property and views are 10+! If you get a chance to stay in the Grand Arbor room, do it!!! So much fun! So romantic! It’s actually quite intoxicating! I’m coming back!

Loved the stay it was fantastic
Only gave 4 star for facilities as I found the kitchen needed to be better equipped with cooking equipment like pans etc but other than that first class loved it

Talus Rock was the perfect girls’ weekend getaway for my sister, daughter and I. Just a short drive to Sandpoint for delicious food and a little shopping, then back to the resort for peaceful reading and watching the stars from the hot tub. The staff was absolutely lovely and accommodating. We will go back!

An amazing one of a kind place. Every room is unique. Very comfortable and relaxing. Continental Breakfast was really good, including cold eggs from their chickens and ducks. Service was great. Highly recommend for a get away near Sandpoint.

This was the first stop for my husband and I on our 20th anniversary weeklong trip. This place is absolutely gorgeous with the most beautiful scenery. It is exactly what we needed to start our trip. It was so incredibly relaxing and the staff was incredible. The house is stunning and the rooms are so cozy. The only recommendation I would offer is regarding breakfast. We were a bit surprised at the offerings at breakfast, especially since the home showcases a beautiful kitchen upon entering the front door. We expected something of the hot variety, yet there was yogurt, bread for toasting, hard boiled eggs and granola.

This place is so unique. We booked this last minute and we are glad we did.

Talus Rock Retreat is not a usual hotel. It was a family home and it was designed according to this family sophisticated preferences. The building is complex, quite big, but at the same time composing well with the surrounding nature. Each room is unique, not utilitarian as a hotel lodging, but comfy and unique. The garden is equally impressive, a lot of work had to be put into planning it.

My stay at the bed and breakfast was just okay. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was poor, and it made the experience uncomfortable during my visit. Additionally, the place seemed overcrowded, with more guests than the rooms could handle, which affected the overall ambiance. To my disappointment, I found out that almost everything came with an extra cost, including bottled water, use of the washing machine, and even using the kitchen facilities. While the staff was friendly, these issues took away from the overall enjoyment of my stay.

Such a lovely property with a beautiful story. Turns out we were the only guests this particular evening and were able to upgrade to the Grand Arbor Suite. We pretty much had the whole property to ourselves...felt like royalty.

It was wonderful. The building is amazing and the rooms were very comfortable. The area around the lodging was very beautiful. Staff was very welcoming. The town is quant with lots of restaurant options and shopping.

Friendly staff, nice hot tub, and sauna. The Kipling room had a nice view. The room could use some upgrades on linen--towels had stains on them, for example, but was generally clean.
Breakfast was disappointing for the price of the stay--about the same that you would receive from a continental breakfast at a chain hotel. There was no loose tea as advertised and the variety was scant. The only fresh fruits were bananas and apples.
The friendly staff was great. Good location into town.

It's basically a bed and breakfast. You can see it's been a labor of love for the owners, but also that it's in a particular taste with a lot of homemade-ness about it. In my opinion, there is too much clutter, as in dust-collector kind of stuff. It feels more like you're staying in someone's home than in a hotel.

Do yourself a favor and experience Talus Rock. For me it was the best lodging experience I have ever had and I have had so many. This was due to the incredible creativity off the family (owners) that put this place together over many years. It is literally a work of art. Throw in the best staff and you have a masterpiece that deserves to be experienced by all

Not a hotel like we were expecting but pleasantly surprised. This was a beautiful custom home converted into a bed & breakfast retreat. The grounds are well maintained and a perfect stay for a couple seeking a romantic getaway. With enough to entertain a family (pool, hot tub, pond wi-fi), it would be equally accommodating for a family stay. Amazing attention to detail in the architecture simply added to the relaxing ambiance of this retreat in the mountains.

What a friendly and helpful crew Heather has assembled. Beautiful building and moose in the yard. They watched our dog Roscoe while we skied and he loved hanging out. We will be going back.

Hidden excellent, tranquil place. Great warm breakfast with local organic eggs, now when all the hotels offer only pre-packaged continental breakfast. The property is like a little castle with large rooms and modern amenities. The staff is very friendly, making you feel like being part of the family, but allowing for privacy in the same time.

Beautiful grounds and building. Friendly helpful staff. Quiet, peaceful atmosphere all around. We extended our stay and the owner went out of her way to accommodate us. Talus Rock Retreat may not be for everyone. It’s high on beauty and spiritual grace and unconcerned with an over abundance modern amenities but, for us, it was perfect. We will definitely come again.

This property is not to be believed. It is special in every way. The "lodge" is mastery in craftsmanship and design.
The grounds are lovely. The retreat is close to town, yet it feels miles away in the trees with a beautiful pond.

beautiful setting in the woods and eclectic resort. Nice staff. Second evening we left early at 7:30pm (checked out) due to some burning of plastics in the construction area just adjacent to our unit. Smoke and fumes wafted into our unit and we started feeling ill within a short time. Had to close windows but odor still in unit. Such a shame as the fresh air and setting is one of the main selling points of this place. Other than leaving early at great cost, we liked the unit.
