Hotel was loud at night due to people directly above us, rooms are outdated and dirty.

Facility was old and had not been updated.

Great stay!

Lovely location with stunning vistas readily available all around. Rooms were sufficient, with bath a little cozier than we prefer. Food was excellent and the included breakfast was delish! Check-in/out was easy and staff was great!

Great place but room was old musty need to update
3.0
The public spaces are comfortable with plenty of seating and games to pass the time. Outside patio is beautiful with a view over the tree tops into the gorge and the river.
The rooms are ok. AC units are noisy, we had to request a room change. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash are all liquid and in dispensers in the shower. No soap or hand cream otherwise. Plenty of hot water. The room and bathroom were perfectly clean. They windows opened which isn't something you find everywhere. The rugs and furnishings are dated. It's an old building that could use a little TLC. Example the fire suppression water lines are run external and 'hidden' behind an casing.
The meals provided are ok at best. The continental breakfast is meager-cold sugary cereal, unlabeled yogurt, bagels and bread for a toasting, some fruit, coffee in Styrofoam cups. If you want hot anything you have to pay extra. Wifi wasn't working. Staff had trouble entering an order for hot breakfast to the kitchen and to check people out.

Our stay was better than we thought. Being an interracial couple we were a bit nervous about how we would be treated. We had nothing to worry about the guest service was beyond friendly and made us feel comfortable. Our cabin was nice thin walls but nice. We would for sure recommend and stay again and hope to get a wooded cabin.

Amazing place my only complaint was the beds were horrible and bed to be replaced in cabin 506

The hiking was excellent and we enjoyed the historic and rustic building. We would definitely come again. I would recommend that the restaurant add composting

The location is great & the view of the river was good. Plenty of trails to enjoy nature & scenery. The negatives of the trip: food was mediocre & our first room…there was a millipede trying to get out of the light in the ceiling. We told the front desk about this & moved us to another room. The new room was pretty good except when we woke up the next morning there was a millipede in our bathroom. While we want to come back again we will not stay again in the lodge. I understand we are in nature, but the bugs should not be in the building.

This is the most beautiful state park we've ever visited! And it was so convenient to stay right in the middle of it. The lodge is older, but it was clean and comfortable. There's so much to do around the park. Its a perfect family vacation destination!

The staff was not helpful. The included breakfast was a joke only Bagels, yogurt, green bananas, and coffee, cold cereal nothing we as diabetics should eat.

Fun state park. The falls were amazing and we timed it right so that we could see the moonbow. We had a full day planned for the next day and were able to get a continental breakfast right at 7:00 so we could get on the road.

So happy to get a room in the lodge right in this park! Room was clean and comfortable, and over looked the wooded area beside the lodge. Lobby is nice and outdoor patio had a spectacular view of the river.
However, the abysmal food at the restaurant was straight out of a Sysco can. Ended up eating here for dinner and breakfast, as any other food choices were miles away.

The breakfast was very bad. In general the food offerings were very poor.

Not enough parking by the cottage. The bed wasn’t very comfortable and the cleanliness was mediocre.

Love this place! Feels like stepping back in time to a nostalgic midcentury vacation...quiet and off the grid. Rooms are clean. You shouldn't expect the Hilton. The charm, area, and cleanliness are what makes this place special. Staff is amazing. The only problem we encountered is the sound of the ac unit. Bring earplugs if you are sensitive to noise while sleeping.

If you are looking for a reasonable price close to the Cumberland Falls beauty and experience, look no further. This place offers close vicinity to a lot of trails.

The staff was fantastic and the grounds themselves are amazingly beautiful, but the rooms are horrible. So much mold and mildew! I was sick my while stay. As soon as we left the interior of the hotel, I was fine. As soon as I step in the room my sinuses got congested and got a headache. They definitely need to do better with the interior of the facility. Breakfast was ok, nothing great. Our smoke detector was torn apart and there was visible mold on the walls, ceiling, and shower curtain. Love the buildings and grounds, but rooms are really rough. Also, giant stains all over the decades old carpets. We will not stay again.

Gorgeous area with lots of outdoorsy stuff to do. So cool that something built so long ago is still up and running. Good food, gorgeous patio behind the lodge. Interior is a pretty dated, but the rates are about right for this lodging. Don't expect luxury and you will enjoy!

Amazing and beautiful spot to stay. We will be back and stay longer at a future date.

The park, itself, is beautiful. I stayed in the Woodlands cabins and they were very run down. Looks like they have not been updated in 30 years. Each cabin had two units and I could hear the folks next door as if they were sitting in my room. Honestly, these rooms are a step above camping, which is fine, just know what to expect. Restaurant looked like something from the 1960s and got bad reviews, so did not even try. As another reviewer suggested, bring your own food!
Not sure if the current owners can't afford to modernize, but the place desperately needs it.

This was a 5-Star, 24-hours for our family! The horseback riding is not to be missed if you are good with horses! Beautiful ride of 1 hour. The horses are less than a 10-minute drive from Lodge but difficult to find first time. We hiked to Falls. Shaded and soooo beautiful—(actually moderate to difficult for some because of occasional large steps and uncertain terrain). Bring mosquito spray and Anti-itch cream for Kentucky outdoors. Really should offer these for sale at front desk. That is why I gave this 4 stars. (And because my buffet eggs had a 1/4 inch thick band of egg callous from sitting too long without being stirred. Someone needs to oversee buffet’s first hour better.). Staff was so kind, lodge rooms rustic and cozy! We had a wonderful time!!! Thank you!

Nice older resort, bathroom tile could use a good scrubing. Everything else good. Breakfast nice but one morning had to wait 20 min as ran out. Beautiful surroundings!

This hotel is clean and comfortable with a friendly staff and absolutely beautiful outdoor view of the Cumberland River!
If you are wanting to be in touch with nature this is the place for you!

The atmosphere and the falls away from tourist area's! Loved it!

The room had too much condensation. All our things were wet just being in the room. My husband developed a cough by just sleeping in this environment. Coffee in lobby cost money, not customer friendly. Room was not cleaned the entire time we were there. Restaurant food was good and timely service. Atmosphere in lobby and outside deck was nice.

We loved the falls, trails, lodge and the aesthetics of the place.

Location and scenery are wonderful. Food in the restaurant was just okay. Breakfast buffet lacked fresh fruit and there were no pastries to have with your morning coffee. The supper buffet was good, but nothing special.
We tried to watch the Olympics while we were here, but had continuous problems with the TV in our room and no one seemed to know anything about fixing it. We had to unplug the spectrum cable box at least 30 times in 3 days to reset the system and approached the main desk personnel multiple times about getting it fixed with no success.

Salad bar nice, but rest of restaurant is blah. Room was nice, though bathroom was a little small.
