Walked away when I saw the room and no parking. Probably the worst hotel I have ever been to on this site

Nice basic hotel but need to stipulate on hotels.com that gym is not included in booking

The hotel was clean and staff were very good.
The rooms are dated but spacious.
Two night stay and as it was just a sleeping base it was more than adequate for our needs.
Would certainly consider using again.
Parking is limited onsite but plenty of room on the roads nearby.

Nice hotel, very friendly staff! Was a bit let down by arriving and finding out there was only one member of staff in the whole hotel and no food was on! We had travelled for 4&1/2 hours so a bit disappointing. Bed was very hard and uncomfortable! However nice decor and very clean could use some updating in some areas!

The bed was undoubtedly the most uncomfortable hotel bed that I’ve ever had the misfortune to try and sleep in, making for a pretty poor night’s rest. The mattress was well and truly ready for wherever mattresses go to die. In fact, it had already died and ruined my stay. I suggest that management actually lie on the beds every now and again, and check that there is any chance of guests sleeping.

Nice staff, good check in, room ok, bathroom needs completely replacing, cracked sink old bath, shower linked to the bath taps, needs windows replacing or repair and repaint.corridors need painting. Have stayed in worse but could be a lot better.

Very convenient for us. We needed to ho to carrdiff and rail station was ar bottom of road. There is a wetherspoons close by. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice bar area. Don't be put off by the outside that is a bit weathered inside is really lovely.

Lovely hotel. Very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Only thing that we didn't enjoy were the pillows... may sound petty but they were so thin and we only had one each. Everything else was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Old style seaside hotel with very pleasant staff

The property maybe a little tired but the service and price are amazing! We opted for the breakfast, which a lovely guy cooked..and could not do anymore for us. Didn't get his name but was outstanding...obviously a perfectionist, whilst running the reception too!
When we checked in there was a really lovely lady who was incredibly helpful. Whilst in the bar was another lady who so so bubbly and like a whirlwind...such a personality.
So handy to get into Cardiff. We were actually there for the Billy Joel concert and was so easy to get to the Principality Stadium.
Would i stay there again? Absolutely...and i would recommend to my friends who are after a bed, bar and breakfast with a lovely team of staff.

Had a great time. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Happy to go that extra mile. The only issue was parking. Only room for roughly about 10 cars, first come, first serve. Had to park up, on main road, down the hill. I would of prefered to park on sight.

The hotel is very run down. Our room was clean with the odd hair here and there. The carpet is so tatty that I hurt my foot on a nail coming up from under the floorboard. The bed springs were poking out of the mattress making it uncomfortable to sleep. I requested a sea view room and as much as that wasn’t promised I felt that we were given the worst room with no view whatsoever. 1/2 a toilet roll in the room so ran out with no spare. All that being said, the staff were very polite and helpful…when you could find them.

Another great stay staff and accommodation fantastic as usual.

After reading reviews on the property I was a little concerned about our stay, however it was much better than expected, with the view you get what you pay for! It’s a budget room so it’s not going to be fabulous. The room had everything you needed for a night, was it perfect, no, but for somewhere to sleep close to the city it was perfect. Staff were friendly on arrival and checking out.

was very reasonably priced. Clean tidy rooms, staff very friendly and accomodating and knowledgeable. Bar area and lounge very well kept and relaxing and drinks reasonably priced. great transport links into Cardiff and the island.
Good accomodation for pricing.
my only issue is i paid half to secure my booking and was supposed to balance on arrival but automatically took pull payment so had to ring to get refunded which takes 2 days.
This seems to be a common complaint so needs resolving or will loose credibility and people will not rebook which is a shame.

This is an awful hotel. Rude reception team with tired and broken rooms. A mouse infestation and maintenance going on in the early hours of the morning

Room was a little strange as I think it was a house conversation we went through the hotel out of the hotel into the garden up some steps.
It did not have a window but patio doors with a lovely view.

Great staff and service, but only give it 4 stars because of the lack of toiletries and the rather thin curtains.

False advertising in regards to the “recently upgraded”.

The advertising for this hotel is not accurate. When I arrived after a long drive with my five month old baby there was no parking and this meant that I had to park on double yellows and display my son’s disabled badge. When I got in to the hotel with baby in pram and our luggage, I was told that the lift was not working so would have to carry the buggy up the stairs.
I was moved to a family room instead of an inaccessible twin but this meant weaving through narrow corridors and heavy fire doors.
The room itself was quite large but there was no cot available/ offered so my son had to sleep in the double with me. The room although clean looking was in disrepair and I found sweets on the floor!
The room had no heating and was cold at night which was not suitable for the baby sleeping. This can’t of been helped by the single glazed windows.
There was tea and coffee facilities in the room and the linen and towels were very clean which was good.
Ultimately all I can say it that this hotel is absolutely not suitable for single parents especially with young children. Had I been aware I would never have booked a stay at the mount rooms.
I will not be returning

Rooms basic but clean and comfortable ideal for our stay good value for the price paid. Staff friendly and helpful with any questions or if anything needed couldn’t fault the service overall very happy with our stay would stay again.

Foyer and bistro were lovely however it all goes downhill as soon as you walk up the stairs!! Was very ‘tired’ everywhere. The room was basic which was fine however cleanliness was disappointing especially where the hand basin wall was covered in toothpaste. Walls and skirtings were in a questionable state. Could do with a good tidy up and lick of paint. The mattress was soooo thin on hard wood and one paper thin pillow each although when requested, more were promptly supplied. £45 a night was a fair price for a ‘fair’ room!! Staff however were lovely, friendly, helpful and accommodating

Staff were really friendly and helpful, especially some young guy on reception and also worked in the bar , cant remember his name ,
There was no cold water in the room apart from the taps on the sink next to toilet, so could not use the shower as it was boiling to hot to stand under , had to run a bath and fill the rest up with cups of water from sink , took ages as you can imagine , was worth 51 pound a night but seeing the prices for the summer over hundred pounds is quite a joke and would never pay it

Have stayed here many times and will return. Ideally located, clean and amazing staff

Staff were nice. Can't fault that but the place is very old. The photos are not a true reflection as they make place look very new and modern. Run down for sure. Wouldn't stay again.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was very hot with no thermostat to turn the radiator off. The shower was good.

In the area I wanted to be. Comfortable with the facilities you would expect.
Main road outside was quite busy, so traffic noise evident early in the morning.
Men talking early (6:30) right outside the front of the building.

Christmas party night at this hotel when we arrived. We were offered ear plugs - our room was on the first floor and noise was so loud our beds were vibrating. Stayed with my 10 year old daughter, we couldn’t go to sleep until after midnight when the music stopped. No answer from the phone line, despite being told there would be availability 24 hours. Beds the most uncomfortable I’ve ever stayed in, could feel every spring. One thin pillow. The thinnest curtains. Walls so thin I could hear people talking, phone alarm going off in another room. Despite being told there was free parking, the car park was tiny with less than 10 spaces and really hard to get to. Had to drive around neighbouring streets to find something. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. We have friends in the area and were visiting for the weekend, we will certainly not be back.

Thought it a bit odd that this was listed as a 4 star hotel when it was a 2 star at best. It was, however, alright for the price; it was a bit old and could use some updating. There was a bit of the flooring in bathroom that almost gave way when I stepped on it. The room definitely didn’t reflect the one I chose on Expedia.

Clean and tidy, convenient location. Nice bar and friendly staff
