The frequent power trip was a major turn off and the wifi connectivity was almost non existent. The pricing for the room was a bit overpriced as well as there were many other cheaper options within that area. On the brightside the staff were friendly and accomdating.

It is quiet in general. The air compressor and motor bike make a lot of loud noises at 6:00 AM every morning. This disturbed my sleep.

Barat is a decent place out of the other options available nearby the Tekek jetty(though it’s a 30mins ride on a 4*4) my impressions-
Room service- below par. Rooms were not attended to properly. No telephone service to call etc.
Amnesties- it’s there but dysfunctional. Water supply gets cut off, wifi almost always doesn’t work.
Food- Nothing to write home about, limited options, highly priced. After the first day we all preferred to go other places.
Barat gets good reviews because the other nearby places are even worse.

everything is bad

The staff super helpful and always willing to help… but the hotel rooms were not clean….the towels were so bad. The dining area was not clean and the cats were wondering around. There were ants everywhere in the room and dining area.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay, things that we feel need for improvement,
1. TV was totally an ornament, not sure you placed a TV in the room which totally not functioning.
2. We can smell BBQ from the balcony, so all the time we didn't enjoy sitting at the balcony even though we booked a seafront room, speaking of which this seafront room has plenty of blocking views, so not really worth to take this room.
3. The sliding door of room 112, which we stayed had serious issue, we cannot open and close it, it made huge noise.
4, Hope that staffs can smile more and offer real service (it is very different from the YouTube video I watched), especially in servicing line, every effort counts.

Lovely beach front hotel and fantastic staff. The rooms needed a bit of tlc - basic things like the towels were threadbare, the grouting in the shower room needed a damn good scrub… there were insufficient sun beds on the beach and most had been uncomfortably mended with wooden slats.
The restaurant at the hotel was good but there are not many easily accessible other places to eat that were reliably open. The restaurant adjacent to the hotel had random opening hours the next two nearest restaurants one was open evenings and one we only saw open once in a week. The vast majority of restaurants in the resort were closed / rarely open (end of June/early July 2023).
We would advise arranging a taxi to get you to the resort from the hotel who were very helpful.

Overall all of us enjoyed the stay there. On the good:
1. Checking in process was quick
2. Check out process was easy
3. Very close to beach
4. Comfy beach chairs and hammock makes u wana stay at the beach the whole day
The bad
1. Bed was squeaky (dont think thatz a major factor)
2. The family room we were given was built on quite straightforward construction - meaning when my wife walked around the room, my bed felt the movement - because the wooden flooring is unstable (told my kids not to jump abt in case the whole structure collapses - thatz close to nature type of construction i guess)
3. 2 of the beds had bed bugs and 2 of them cdnt sleep the 2 nights they were there - we only found that out after we checked out
4. The walls were so thin we cd literally hear the family's conversations beside our room
5. Pool was clean. However the staffs placed a huge mat by the pool such that 1/3 was inside fhe water. Was standing in the pool beside the mat until i realised it was a mat due to the foul odour.
We're giving a 4 star to this property because we do like the location and layout, but we hope that at least the bed and pool shd be addressed properly. If addressed we will definitely be back.

This is my 4th visit in Barat Tioman and would always return. The service, the lodging and the ambiance has always been amazing.
2.0
Positive the staff and the position.
Negative, very slow check in, housekeeping on demand is only remake iof tour bed , nothing more.
Wi fi doesn't work, or if you are connected can use some minutes then goes down.
At last is common part in quite dirt

Arrived and saw no welcome drink at the drink counter and no staff welcomed our arrival, you just come out of the taxi and straight to the reception. After you get the key, pick up own luggage and go up the hill top. There was no hand soap in the dispenser and no labeling for body soap and shampoo. Room was ok. View was nice. Kettle, water dispenser, glasses and mugs is available but not much you can do if you don't bring your own tea/coffee and own stirrer. In-house phone was not working but didn't have to use it anyway.

Besides the poor telco coverage, everything is excellent to enjoy the beach and scenery here.

I’ve stayed at The Barat Tioman twice this year. I love the room, the amenities, the cleanliness and of course the friendly and helpful staff. Apart from having reasonable priced accommodations, The Barat Tioman also provides diving lessons and snorkelling services. The beach is always clean and they also provide additional beach activities for adults and children. Yes ! A comfortable place for kids too ! Did i mention they have waddling pool and swimming pool? A rooftop bar ,but unfortunately un operational during Civid-19.
For first timers to Tioman , please be ensure that the telco services isn’t stable or strong enough - so patience is a virtue .. and it is an island life after all 😅
I would definitely recommend it to friends and family! I see you soon !

Wonderful place to stay. Nice pool and very friendly helpful staff. The room was big and well equipped. The reception was always manned and couldn’t do enough for you. The only downside is there was construction work at the back of my room, presumably because it is low (monsoon) season. Also there were limited vegetarian options on their monsoon menu, although the regular menu for the high season looked very veggie friendly

We loved our stay at The Barat: great service, good food, safe, clean room and air conditioned room and comfortable beds. We enjoyed swimming in the pool and the beach was beautiful - so clean! We were lucky to go at the start of the low season, so it was quiet. The transfer to and from the ferry terminal was a highlight, as we traveled through the forest looking out for monkeys. We also watched baby turtles make their way to the sea, thanks to the conservation project next door and the snorkeling trip did not disappoint. We will be back!

The staff were SO genuine and the hospitality was fantastic.
It felt like home with a warm welcome. I feel like they’ve become family.

Wifi is limited to lobby area not available at room. The bunk bed was squeaky. The restaurant was good with BBQ! Water server was available and pick up service was also good. You can drop by small waterfall on the way back to the jetty.

It is a nice secluded location facing the South China Sea. However, service of the desk staff could be improved instead of me asking them for a welcome drink, they should expect my arrival when I check in and offer me without my family asking.
Overall, a pleasant stay but the cook/food can be further improved to make our stay more satisfying. Enjoyed the 1 for 1 Matcha/Cappuccino Blended all day! Yummy !

Water heater not working but technician came and replaced with new one.
Room 405 quite smelly at balcony because facing restaurant toilet which has some plumbing leakages (can be seen from external wall opossite room 405)
Bedding and pillows v comfy and clean. No tv channel, so must bring ur own external hard disk. Or can borrow from reception at no charge.
There is a GAP between Ferry arrival time and hotel check in time, so be prepared to hang around outside the hotel before u can get ur room(luggage room is provided).
Overall, highly recommended especially for families with young children.

Quite advantures , have to take pickup to reach either side...have to spend more money especially for a big family of mine

Great location right on the beach. Two coral reefs to snorkel around within walking distance. Lots of facilities, paddle boards, body boards, swimming pool, climbing wall. Great friendly staff. Restaurant was reasonably priced with a good selection of food. We would definitely go back.

Hotel close to the beach. Great service from all the staff. Keep it up 👍👍

Good stay but the sheets were a bit dirty

Hotel is new, clean and probably the most modern in Juara. It is right in front of the beach, so it's very convenient. Beach towels are also available, but you'll have to ask for it from the Activity Counter. Food was sufficiently cheap, and pretty good too. Roshan served us on all days and he was simply spot on with the service - would recommend!

1. No toothbrush n toothpaste provided.
2.intermitten power surge.
3.food quite pricey
4. Water was murky at the start but clear after a few hours
5.i love the staff!
6.good water and land activities and facilities..

Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. Room conditions are slightly above average. Food provided at hotel restaurant is reasonably good and priced. Perhaps the grilled/roast chicken portion could be better, just 3/4 if what I used to have elsewhere. Water from basin tap is not flowing fully when tap fully opened, only a third of water flowing. Water from shower head also not flowing sufficiently and properly, suspect shower head is already faulty. The walking path to room within and around hotel could be improved, I need to walk through wet and smelly carpeted path which is not very pleasant, these are the detail things that the hotel management could seriously looked into if they want Travelers to return or recommend to others.
My main displeasure is that the hotel is on a more remote eastern part of the island and the transport fees one way of RM30 per pax is exorbitant. My family of 4 has to pay RM120 each way, a total of RM240. I would suggest that travellers take this into your hotel rates considerations as it could mean more cheaper alternatives elsewhere. A more reasonable rate would be RM10 per pax.

There were a few small ant spray in the bathroom as stated in the other reviews however for the location and being consumed in nature it was great! Staff was so friendly and accommodating. All possible water sports were available. The food was very reasonable and beds were comfortable.

It's in a remote part of the island, which is what I'm looking for. The beach and seawater is beautiful, the resort is new and clean, service is top notch.
Internet is as good as non-existent, don't even bother trying.
Could do better on managing ants and flies.

The nature itself bliss me, no doubt about the beauty of nature. The resort in the other hand, what it's shown on the picture is not as what you see with your real eyes. Do not expect much from this hotel. Cleanliness have to put more effort. The food at the resort is delicious though, love the services provided by this philipino waitress by the name Juby. The location is a bit troublesome as you will need to travel from the other side of the island to the other side of island up the sloppy hill. Wifi is bad.

This was a pleasant surprise after a long trek. I ended up with a great room over looking the pool then to the beach, and the backside opens up to a rocky hillside into the rainforest. It was quite breathtaking. The restaurant was clean and busy, dealt with a few flys (but its all open air on the beach so you deal with it). The only issues I had were that the wifi wasnt really working, and the tv has no actual connection, but I read instead. Adds to the very remote feeling of the island, wish I had more time to explore all the island had to offer.

We stayed in Barat for 2 nights in March 2017. The hotel was opened for 3 months. I just could not figure out if some of the facilities were still under construction or falling apart already.
The room comfort was good. Bed and air condition I am rating 4 out of 5. But some of the interior elements felt like very old - corners in the bathroom, a lot of dust and hair between the tiles and swimming pool was quite dirty so we never tried it. Maybe it was because of school holidays and the pool was full of kids day in, day out.
What I would like to highlight is the restaurant. The entire Juara beach is very underdeveloped in terms of shops available (we found only 1 shop open which basically had mostly canned food), restaurants and eateries open usually in the morning and then after 6:30pm. The Barat hotel restaurant is then the only spot where you can eat whenever you are hungry. But the service is incredibly poor. We ordered dinner set consisting of 4 items. We got only 2. Later when we asked why, the answer was that the other two are not available. No apology, no compensation comes in return. We needed to suggest a compensation or price reduction. What came in as a compensation was so called "fruit platter" which was around 100g of watermelon.
If we go to Juara beach again, we would however give Barat a second chance as it looked like the best hotel on that side of Tioman island.
