Hot. They must have governers on their AC, took forever to cool the room down then got warmer during the night. Staff are nice and accomodated a room change but still warm. And it was September.

Great hotel near train station

When I booked the hotel, the photos used for the property were of the adjacent property (Hotel Belaroia), which was a 4 star vs a 3 star hotel. This was extremely misleading, as the actual hotel (Campanile) looked nothing like the photos (obviously). We also had a very unpleasant encounter with a horrible check in guy who was extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. We asked if we could check in early, or pay to check in early - he said there was NOTHING available. We then booked an early check in on dayuse.com, which subsequently forced him to check us in early. This probably lost money for Hotel Campanile as they probably now have to pay a commission! Terrible value for money as had we known that the photos were that of the next door hotel, we would have paid the extra €15 per night as it was a far superior hotel. Our room had no safe, no fridge, and very poor air conditioning.

This was the first hotel in 20 years which didn't have a fridge. The outside temperature was 37C so being able to keep drinking water cold is a necessity. They sold small bottles of water in reception for 3 Euros.
The hotel is just concerned with making more money from it's customers rather than trying to make them feel comfortable. The previous hotel to this had a free water cooler where we could refill our water bottles. Better for the environment, cheaper, and more convenient than this hotel which is why I am only giving it 1 star.

I loved having a cafe/ bar in the building. It was easy to walk to the city centre. Very good hotel with lovely rooms.
My only complaint is that the pillows on the bed smelled funky.

Hotel rooms are much smaller than what is posted on the Net. Breakfast is great . It is a block away from train station so it was very convenient (could not hear noises from the train)

Air conditioning wasn't very strong. They did try hard to move me to a room with better AC but even then it wasn't great. Thankfully they brought me a fan when I wasked for one and I was able to be cool enough to sleep. Probably room was around 73-75 fahrenheit if I were to guess. Not bad but I run warm. Other than that it was a lovely place and perfect for us to stumble out of bed in the morning to catch our 7am train!

The property is in the heart of the city.

Nice experience, everything perfect

We had a curt reception. There was no parking or even a luggage drop-off area. The desk clerk told us of a nearby parking garage but couldn’t tell us how to get there, saying to put it in the GPS.
The hotel does not have many amenities but is connected to another that does. There is however a small breakfast area.
The room was serviceable, but the carpet was stained.

Great staff. Great location for transportation.
3.0
Great and convenient location, close to train station and at walkable distance of city center

Lack of good quality pillows and only 1 per person in the room and very flat so not a good nights sleep.

Contemporary, modern hotel, walking distance from the city center and the Montpellier Saint-Roch central train station. The hotel is very clean, the staff very nice and helpful, has elevators, and the price is quite reasonable. Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed the shower (not all hotels have nice, clean and well-lit showers). Walking minutes from the Place de la Comédie with its cafés and from the old city streets. There are always taxis in front of the hotel and if you prefer public transportation, there is a nearby tramway station. The hotel is across from the Saint-Roch train station, allowing you to plan little day trips with local trains to visit more places around Montpellier, then walk back to the hotel to rest. Very easy and safe access to the hotel day and night. On the downside, if you are arriving late at night, there is nothing open around the hotel except a McDonald's small location where you must order at a window and wait outside, or a bar. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant (you can go to the restaurant of the Belaroia Hotel (same building, different hotel) but it can be a bit pricey for some guests. However, this restaurant is not open late and the Campanile hotel itself doesn't have food options available for guests arriving late. So if you are arriving at night, bring some snacks with you. The electric kettle in the room was broken and the mattress was a bit firm for me (but you may like it), but we otherwise had a good stay.

The Hotel was nice and staff were lovely, and the location is fantastic, it's next to the train station and the restaurants and shops too.

Overall, I think this hotel could do with an all round update.
It’s lacking some of the basics I’ve come to expect of budget/tourist hotels (e.g. there’s not a safe nor a fridge in the room). However, the staff were friendly and happy to supply a few bits we’d forgotten to pack.
I wouldn’t stay for longer than a night or two.

Very conveniently located, just across the road from the train station. Tram stops are just outside too. Easily walkable to the sights and attractions, so many eateries around the area. It’s quiet and safe at the hotel

Property is minutes away from train station and very close to old town. I was there for work mainly, but also managed over one day visit the old town. I will stay there again if I go to Montpellier

Lovely hotel close to train station, food and easy walking distance to town centre.

This a very nice choice for a hotel in Montpellier. 50m from the Saint Roch train station, and walkable to pretty much everywhere in the city. The property is in great condition, and the staff is helpful. A good value for the euro!

All great except mattress… well, mattresses: double with big crack separating two twins, so might as well have a single! Excellent condition, location, and transportation options. Nice shower heads.

This property is over rated on Expedia. The hotel is old, not clean, the towels smell bad, no napkins in the rooms, beds are not comfortable at all, nothing good about it except that it’s located next to the train station.

Perfect location - close to Gare saint Roch station and centre of town.
One of very few hotels in Europe that have taken the reduction of plastics seriously.
No one use plastic shampoo bottles here.

My family and I checked into the hotel in the afternoon (2 rooms). The air conditioning was working when we left at 4 PM to go on a wine tour. When we returned to the hotel at 11 PM, both rooms were hot. In fact, the hallway was much cooler than our rooms. I asked the receptionist what they could do to fix the problem. She said that there was no solution. I told her that I wanted to check out and move to another hotel. She agreed to provide a full refund for both rooms. Currently, Hotel Campanille is only offering a refund for one of the two rooms. This is unacceptable because they could not rectify the situation and we ended up spending more to move to another hotel at 11 PM at night. This caused much stress during our vacation.

Great room in a great location, very quiet room and effective air con. Not a lot of space with the sofabed made up but plenty of room in bathroom and top notch shower.
I would have liked a mini fridge to chill water in but only because it was a very hot couple of days.

The Hotel Campanile Montpellier Centre St Roch is a reliable choice for stays in Montpellier, and has proven a convenient choice on two trips. The hotel is well placed with excellent connections to bus, tram, and train lines. Just a short walk to the historic center with excellent shopping, restaurants, and bar choices. The welcome is always pleasant, the team helpful where they can be.

The hotel was conveniently located next to the train station. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The breakfast buffet was delicious and had many options. The room was comfortable and clean. We enjoyed the walk ability of the neighborhood - even with a toddler in a stroller.

Friendly staff. Quiet & clean hotel. Conveniently located within walking distance of all the major city attractions, public transportation, and Gare St. Roch (train station). High quality for the cost. Great shower & bathroom. The room was perfect size & amenities for 1 or 2 adults; I didn't go to France to stay in a hotel, I went to be out in the city where I was visiting. The hotel was perfect for my needs. I would stay there again!
