The Richard was conveniently located close to everything in Edgartown. The harbor was a 10 minute walk while the lighthouse was a 17 minute walk. There were eateries on every block with numerous shops as well. The front desk staff was great. They assisted me with a taxi to Oak Bluffs when Lyft was taking entirely too long. The main doors were locked at night and a code was required for entry which gave me peace of mind. I stayed on the first floor in Room 4 and my bathroom was very spacious. They had a keurig area by the front desk with a variety of stocked teas and coffee. For breakfast, they provided a continental style breakfast from. 7-9 am. I will definitely stay here again!!

Amazing stay!

The property was lovely and well appointed. The breakfast was a nice touch (although repetitive). The staff was very kind and helpful. But our room (#3) was extremely noisy - you could hear the street, other guests inside the hotel passing by or in their rooms and the front door everytime it was used. It may have been the worst room due to its location and it should perhaps be mentioned when booking.

This well appointed boutique hotel was one the highlights of my three-day trip to the island. I have been to MV many times, but this felt like a piece of serene luxury - exactly my personal vibe. It was centrally located in Edgartown and I was able to walk to most of my day and evening destinations. The Richard had been on my list of hotels to stay at for a few years and it did not disappoint. It's clean and sophisticated with the just the right dose of richness, especially in the details. Especially noteworthy was service and genuine hospitality that I received from Kaitlyn and Katie - they were rockstars! Don't hesitate to stay here and carve some time out to spend in the beautiful courtyard!

Katie was excellent. Delta cancelled our flight and we did not arrive until the next day but we could not get a refund for the unused night

Not what I would call a 5-star hotel. Staff hideaway. Hours of service are random, 7:30 usually means 8:15. If you're in a prime room in the courtyard be prepared to walk in the rain to get coffee. Additionally, you may find the doors locked in which case you will need to walk to the front of the hotel to use the keypad. No coffee is available in the rooms. Rooms are not well insulated, so you will hear everything that goes on above your room or outside of your room. Very sad, because the location is excellent.

We loved The Richard, our room was wonderful and utilized the attached balcony every day. We also took advantage of the outdoor green space and seating area, what a bonus!! The small plates breakfast was excellent and all staff very, very friendly and always willing to answer your questions and stop for a quick chat. We hope to be back in the future. Thanks for the wonderful stay.

The hotel is so convenient to restaurants, shopping and the central bus stop. It was quite private as well, with a courtyard for relaxation even though it's literally on main street. I did want to commend the exemplary customer service by Katie and Neusa for arranging to have my bags transferred to a sister hotel 'Edgartown Inn' while we spent the day in Nantucket. I would definitely consider staying at the Richard again in my future travels.

The staff is fantastic. They greeted us with a warm welcome and were very friendly. They made sure we had everything we needed for a great visit. The room was clean and well equipped but was a bit on the small size. We found the bed and pillows were softer than what we find at other hotels and thus a bit uncomfortable for us. Rooms at the front of the hotel are only 20 feet from the Main street where car and foot traffic is nearly constant in the evening, so it can be a bit noisy.
We were celebrating our 40th anniversary and found a nice card from the hotel staff and bottle of champaign in our room when we arrived. We though it was a nice touch until we arrived home to learn our children had arrange for that. Unfortunately the hotel took credit for it and never mentioned who it was actually from. Not cool.
The close proximity to shopping, dinning, and bike rentals is what really makes this hotel so desirable. It's also part of the residential area, which makes for a nice casual stroll through the neighborhood any time of day.

The Hotel was very modern with the most comfortable bed and pillows, the overall decor was well done. The bonus was a free upgrade that included a lounging patio deck. The grounds are very nicely kept with a beautiful outdoor seating and fire decor.
Evening cookies and morning breakfast was a bonus. The location is on point right on the Main Street. I definitely recommend it.

Parking nightmare.

The facility was impeccably clean and tastefully decorated. . The staff was very firendly and professional. The breakfast was light and well balanced. Its garden with a fire pit was relaxing after a day of sightseeing. I would love to return.
My only concern was that there were no handrails by areas with steps or to get into walk-in shower. I managed with my cane but would have felt safer with handrails.
