I really wanted to like this property but there many issues. First of all this is not a real hotel. It's a bed and breakfast. The day we showed up, the gate was closed and there was no way to get in. After driving and walking around the outside fence for half an hour we found a construction worker who went and found a care take for the place. The place looked abandoned and the owners were away.i offered to cancel but they insisted we stay. The château itself had seen better days and they were in the process of repair. Our room was ok and it was nice to be in the woods. they never cleaned the room in our 3 days there but they provided a change of towels once. The owners need staff but appear reluctant to obtain. Overall it was an OK experience

This is a very small property, only 5 or 7 rooms, set on the end of an island in the Rhone river.
The owners/staff were extremely nice people.
A set menu for lunch and dinner that changes by the season is available for some days, not everyday.
there are local wine bars within walking distance and walkable into Avignon's old town.
very quiet.
lots of space available for a venue event.
I would definitely stay here again if I had the chance.

Lovely owners and staff. Sitting in the front, drinking a glass of wine, looking at this gorgeous home is a rare experience. Fantastic to be able to park our rental car for free in the large, shaded lot on site. It is only about a 20 min. safe and lovely walk across the bridge to the ancient town of Avignon. I would not want to drive into town. Lots of restaurants and the Pope's Palace. The owner is the chef of the wonderful on-site restaurant. His wife checks in the guests and their daughter is fluent in English. Be sure to book this soon as the owners plan to stop running this as a hotel but will rather turn the property into a special events venue. I would definitely stay here again. We had the 2-floor family room.

This was a treasure find! A lovely boutique hotel still being lovingly renovated by delightful people. Bonus the Bar/restaurant boat on the river just outside the secure gate 2 mins stroll. very safe secure hotel. They locked up & gave us key for front door & electric gate. Absolutley delightful!

Great stay within walking distance but out of the congestion of Avignon. The house is lovely, rooms are clean and staff are very nice. Sitting outside on the stately patio listening to the cicadas with a glass of wine hit the spot after the tourist congestion of Avignon. I couldn’t recommend it more!

We enjoyed our two night stay in this incredible and beautifully renovated stately home. Veronique was a lovely host. Our room was beautiful, huge, gorgeous towels, lovely sheets on our king size bed and beautiful bathroom. All in an absolutely beautiful setting right on the banks of the Rhone River and walking distance to old town Avignon. Breakfast was delicious breads, croissants, yogourt, home made delicious apricot preserve, meat, cheese, juice and hot beverages. Barge wine bar restaurant adjacent to this home made for a wonderful evening of entertainment under the stars. A must stay if one is in the Avignon area. Thank you Veronique and Auberge de la Treille!

This property sits across the Rhone River, within walking distance of Avignon by bridge. Once you are through the hotel gates, you feel you have entered a movie set. The trees and the architecture are charming, the inn is inviting and personal, in the summer heat our rooms were very cool for sleeping and the renovated baths and rooms are well done. The owners are warm and friendly and the petit dej́euner was exceptionally well done.

very unique hotel, it is in an old castle. it tucked away at river front, a bit hard to find. Our room is clean, big with comfortable beddings. Breakfast was outside in the front yard, which was very nice. Its restaurant should be good, there is a Michelle plate in front of door. Unfortunately, it was fully booked on the day we were there. You can park your car in the yard, there were plenty of parking.

Owners and staff of what is actually a B and B, were great, rooms spacious and very nicely remodeled. The most wonderful stop on our month long trip though France.

Good luck if you ever try to find this place.
It was 7 pm and spent 30 minutes trying to find it in a shady and spooky neighborhood.
Expedia should verify this place and not be part of a scam.

Very quaint and charming and quiet. Very close to the Old City of Avignon and Palace of the Popes, etc. Delightful staff and breakfast was included. The room was spacious, clean and air conditioned and had beautiful views. This is a true gem of a hotel. It is an old mansion turned into a hotel...or that is what it appears to be. Very charming!

It’s an old French home on a large property sat right across from the old town Avignon, we had a wonderful stay for 3 nights, while we were visiting the Provence area with all the town’s near by, and you can walk to the old town too.

We stayed here for just one night before catching the train to Paris, but we wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel definitely has a guest-house feel to it, and you get the feeling that the restaurant is the main focus here. That being said, our room was amazing, clean, and comfortable, and the grounds beg you to sit with a glass of wine and relax. The breakfast in the morning was a wonderful start to our day and was served by the nicest lady. The location really is a short walk to everything touristy, though walking back at night did feel a little sketchy. Okay, now let's tackle getting to the hotel and through the gate: First, do not follow Google Maps directions, as they will take you to the back gate, which is not opened. Take the N580 bridge, 1st left down the off-ramp and onto Chemin de I'lle de Piot, taking a right. The hotel is at the end of that road. The Gate: I imagine if you are from Europe or have an int'l cell plan, just to give them a call to open the gate. For the rest of us, you'll want to set up an arrival time previous to your arrival to make sure you can get through the gate. We had to find a nice neighbor to call them for us in order to get through the gate. Overall, great home base to explore the wonderful town of Avignon. We will also miss their dog and cute kitty.

When we arrived at the hotel by taxi, the gate was closed. We couldn’t do anything, so we had to get back to the city center with our big luggage.
Even when the tourist center staff called for several times, no one answered on the phone call.
Two days before of my booking day, I got a message from the hotel which asking me of the arriving time. So I was sure that my booking was confirmed.
Finally, we booked and stayed at the different hotel.
As I was looking forward to staying here, I was very disappointed and annoyed. Moreover, we spent 20euros for taxi in vain.
I strongly request the apology from the hotel owner and explanation of why this happened.

Place is nice but the people are not focussed on their guests. The restaurant has a good reputation and that is obviously their main concern

The property is like no other. The setting among the Plane trees and the old stately home makes it other worldly. The rooms are modern but still have old world charm. And the Michelin starred restaurant is to die for. Eating each course required silence. As though in church. We will be back very soon. We stayed an extra day and changed our plans because it was so wonderful.

We had the dinner and breakfast in the hotel restaurant, which was so good. Reasonably priced with good service. Our breakfast was accompanied by two doggies in the garden and it was lovely.

we had a little trouble finding this place. know if you go that it is also a restaurant and follow directions there and you're grand. it's beautiful and literally, a 10-minute walk and you're inside the walled city and 10 minutes more to the papal palace. the place itself reminds that you are definitely in france and feels like a hidden wonder on the ile de barthelasse. stay here and have breakfast and probably also dinner (though we didn't get a chance). there is also a dear wine bar across the road outside the guesthouse that is on a river barge.

Hosts were outstanding and kind, considering I spoke no French. Food was amazing. Location within walking distance from Avignon was perfect, 15 min walk from the walled old city, so perfect if you have a car to park and dont wish to struggle to find parking.

This charming hotel should be a must stay for anyone travelling to Avignon. The staff were extremely helpful and made every effort to ensure all our needs were met. Even Daisy the resident dog made us feel at home! Chef was fantastic and our final meal before departing was not only beautiful to see but absolutely scrumptious from aperitif to dessert. Beautiful location, charming home, walk to the old city, take a cruise on the river - what more could one ask for? Merci beaucoup la Treille!Kathryn Gibson

Beautiful old villa with 4 tastefully renovated rooms and an incredible restaurant run by the owner/chef. Great breakfast. Easy access into Avignon. The owners and staff were helpful and welcoming. Only tricky thing was getting in when the gate is closed. Best to call when at the gate if needed.
