Awesome friendly, delightful front desk staff. Very good restaurant on premises, which was packed.

Stayed for one night when visting Bern. Great hotel. Super clean, helpful staff and the continental breakfast was terrific. It totally exceeded my expecations and I'd stay there again. Very close to the train station which is convenient. Highly recommend!

Good Hotel, Great Staff and Good Breakfast.
No Parking on site but nearby garage @ 5 min walking distance. Noisy area due to tram running all the time but we were able to sleep without any issue. Easily Walkable to old town :-)

Really enjoyed our stay here. It was an ideal location. Our room faced the street but we couldn’t hear anything with the window closed. The breakfast was great with many options. Our mistake as we didn’t look to see if there was a mini fridge in the room (there wasn’t) but they were able to store a few things we had already bought for my cousin who is gluten free (thanks again Emma!).

It's more of a boutique style hotel rather than a full-service hotel, but the location was great, the service excellent, and the provided breakfast was substantial. Cool 125+-year-old elevator.

The location of this hotel is close to the train station. Overall, it was alright. The room was on smaller side but had a balcony that you could stand on. The trams had stops right outside the hotel so if you had the windows open, you can hear the very loud squealing of the trams turning on the track. The window did stop almost all of the noise though. The bed is on the harder side and the pillow very soft. The breakfast was good and free. I stayed for 2 nights and I don’t think it’s one I’d want to stay in for a longer period of time. Overall, it was a room to spend the night in and it did its job

Very convenient hotel in Bern. The staff was wonderful. The breakfast was nice. I would stay here again.

Room was ok but there was no airco! Sleeping with the window open with the tram right below was no option either.

We are seniors in our 70s and 60s visiting Switzerland for the 1st time. We reserved 1-night stay in Hotel National Bern thru Hotel.com then decided to use Bern as base to do day trips, but at last minute no more room available thru Hotel.com. We reserved additional 3 nights thru Hotel National’s web site. During checking-in, Lady Tanja at reception desk looked at our physical conditions and offered possibility of 4-night stay without changing room. There were difficulties of two reservations in different room categories. With the help of her colleague Lady Malwina, Tanja patiently spent time to comb thru options and later informed us that the difficulty was resolved and we would not need to change room during our stay. The two lady’s warm help to seniors represents the high standard of customer service of Hotel National’s Bern. We have also experienced great service in breakfast room and daily room cleaning.
Thank you.

This city was so enchanting! One of my top 3 I visited. Traveling by train and bus I try to avoid Taxis. This hotel is located within close proximity to those. The staff was very accommodating and helped me more than once with the map and directions. They were gracious to hold my bags past check out until my train was ready to leave which gave me more time to site see without lugging my suitcases around. Very good English speakers so I was very comfortable,!

Broken table
Broken sink
Bed has No headboard
No coffee
No luggage rack
Minimal furniture (one small wooden chair and one leather chair in a junior suite!)
No shower cap, conditioner, lotion, and the only supply in the bathroom is a wall mounted body wash and shampoo (same bottle). That same wall mounted unit is also on the sink for hand soap.
Club nearby with loud music
Elevator only fits 2 people and doesn’t go to ground level without reception pressing something.
It is a hostel not a hotel

Property had unique feeling of past and present. The front desk lady, Ana, was amazing. She helped us in all possible ways. Awesome customer service by her. Other staff was also very polite.
Great place to stay close to station

This property has no AC , you have to keep window open when hot . But there is a busy street, below so hard to sleep with loud tram noise. They did move was to 4th floor from 2nd and away from street. But it was facing courtyard so no wind . Pretty uncomfortable in late July . Breakfast was ok . Lady who was host for breakfast was typical unfriendly Swiss . Reception girls speaks good English and were friendly. They do have portable AC but it was already booked . Location was very close to train station and they gave city transportation pass .

No AC , you got to keep window open if hot . Reception girls were nice , breakfast hostess was typical unfriendly swiss as if do you favor, there yogurts didn’t have label blow it when I ask she rude point me some label on top somewhere. This Swiss needed to get train to treat guest as customer

Courteous staff and nice breakfast, but no air conditioning and parking was 3 blocks away and cost 35 sw. fr. Very old property with clean rooms

Lovely old building. Lots of character.
Significant public infrastructure construction in front prohibited me from parking to drop off bags, etc., but not the hotel's fault.
6.0
The walls appeared to be very thin and you could hear everything going in what felt like the entire building very hard to sleep before 1am due to this. Lack of fridge in the middle of summer also was very inconvenient

The hotel is just a few steps from the main train station. It’s at the centre of the city and access to everywhere is just easy. Although the hotel is old, it has been renovated and it’s very clean. The washroom/toilet is spotless clean as well as the linens. There’s no air conditioner but has a fan.

Great location, close to the Bern rail station and 10 mins walk to old town area. The room air temperature was quite warm. We booked in July. Might not be a problem if you like the heat.

I only stayed one night but I really enjoyed the hotel. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable. It is walking distance from the train station with plenty of tram stops nearby. The room itself is small but wasn’t important since we were sightseeing. The breakfast was really good and the bread was especially delicious.

This is an older hotel, we were being assigned a small room on the level of the Attic. Nothing to rave about the room but it's clean. Staff is excellent, and the food in their restaurant is very good.

It was a good choice.

Good location and friends my stafff
But bed is too small and uncomfortable

Great location. Unfortunately, the way to regulate temperature was only to open or close the window to let cooler air in but also lots of street noise. Also, no small refirgerator in the room so getting food and keeping it cold was impossible.

This boutique hotel has very good features even the hotel building is century old. Our room was the corner unit on the top floor which was upgraded with a lot of modern facilities. Without closing the windows, it was quite noisy with trams and birds. Fortunately the temperatures were quite cool for us in May to close the windows. The hotel should consider using foam pillows which are common in North America.
