Beautiful historic hotel, lovely decor and a friendly staff

This hotel was beautiful and only had one floor for the hotel rooms. The front desk staff are so nice and friendly. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful building. Excellent 20th floor bar. Convenient location.

Juwon manages the Hotel Floor and yhe place is immaculate, cozy and private.
And the access to the 20th Floor Private John Hand Club is a bonus with amazing views and friendly and talented staff.

Check-in was difficult. Hotels.com sent us a non-functional door code and security wasn’t at the front desk. No one answered the phone numbers listed on the door to call. Brisk walk through the rain to parking deck next block over to get security to answer phone to let us in the door. Living room in the Heaviest Corner suite strongly smelled of marijuana and lots of street noise hindered sleep somewhat. Otherwise, room was clean and appeared well kept. The bed was comfortable and shower was beautiful and refreshing with great water pressure.

Carlton at the Front Desk is absolutely THE BEST!

Our stay was absolutely incredible; the staff and bartenders went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed ourselves and had everything we needed. The room was beautiful, clean and spacious with a great city view and balcony.

A little gem in Birmingham.

I love the unique style of the chalet. It was nice and cozy. I didn’t like the hotel staff member that basically asked us what were we doing there. I mean obviously we booked. I then we received the wrong key card. I feel like it was on purpose.

This is the BEST hotel we have stayed in downtown Birmingham. They pay attention to all the details.
2.5
Beautiful suite, lovely and thoughtful amenities. Shower was amazing. The only thing I would change is the checkout time of 10am.
The Welton bar on the top floor has a killer cocktail program and fantastic views.

Beautiful property! Hidden gem! 10/10.
The only complaint I have is that the bar/restaurant is closed on Sunday at 4 pm which is the check-in time. It would have been nice to lounge up there and enjoy the view with a drink. It doesn’t open until later in the evening on Monday either. So, of all nights-Sunday is best to be avoided if this is important to you. Stayed in the Sloss room that was auto-picked for me. Probably the smallest and worst view of all 6/7 rooms, but it steps directly into the private living (lounge) area that is so beautiful, quiet and peaceful! The hotel is clean, smells great and beds are super comfortable! I’m a travel and expense manager and I feel happy recommending this to anyone coming to BHM. I am a local and gifted this night to a family member and brought them some snacks and drinks to help enjoy their stay.

Carlton the security guard was a welcoming smile and outstanding host. Cody the club restaurant/bar manager was equally a fantastic host that shared the history of the hotel and the surrounding area. Food and beverages at the Welton were amazing. Truly an exclusive hidden oasis in Birmingham.

The hotel itself is beautiful, a renovated bank vault company in downtown Birmingham, near the train yards. The surrounding area is undergoing a rejuvenation period where some buildings have yet to undergo their transition.

This is an amazing property!
We stayed in the cobblestone suite. It had a separate seating area, access to a wonderful balcony, a walk-in shower, and a comfortable king size bed. They also provided extra linen/blankets in the closet.
It can be a little confusing on how to access the security desk where you check in and then the hotel but if you follow the very detailed instructions that they send to you and use Google maps to locate the areas you will be fine.
You have to first park in the visiting parking lot located at morris and 20th avenue. Then walk a few feet to the double doors of the John hand building. They will have your key card already set. When you go back to your car if you look directly across the street (still on Morris) you will see a parking deck entrance. There will even be a sign (John Hand club parking). Use your key card to access both parts of the perking deck. One you park where the security directs you to park there are two double doors.. you enter and take the elevator to the designated floor and find your suite from there
There are only 6 suites I believe. Each one with a different name.
There is a community kitchen that the staff hand stocked with beverages, fruit and for breakfast- bagels, fruit bars, yogurt.
The hotel is located downtown Birmingham and there are several shops and restaurants within walking distance.
This was an amazing stay and I will always stay at John Hand Club whenever I am in Birmingham.

The building has been restored to its original beauty, and the rooms are modern and very tastefully done. It was unique and a treat to be there.

From the moment you walk in the John Hand building you know you are in for a special treat! Everything is incredibly clean - the lobby, the room, the hallways and even the elevators! We stayed in the Vulcan Suite and loved it. Tons of space, a super comfortable King bed and a large bathroom. We loved that snacks and water were in our room and complimentary. I would come back to Birmingham just to stay here again!

We couldn't have been more pleased. By far the best suite we have experienced in Birmingham.
Bed was exceptionally comfortable
, bar and restaurant were " clubby cool", amenities at no charge were a pleasant surprise, and Carlton at the check-in desk couldn't have been more helpful or personal.
This is the only place we'll stay when we overnight in Birmingham.

My wife and I loved the building the hotel is housed in.

We recently stayed at the John Hand Club Hotel on a quick trip to Birmingham. I must say, its a unique set-up, and not your typical hotel, with an obvious lobby and check-in desk. But we were well taken care of by the Gentleman who greeted us as we drove in and explained how to get to the parking area, quickly checked us in, and miraculously showed up when we forgot the last part of our instructions, to help us get to where we needed to be! It was clean, well appointed and quiet, and easy to get in and out. We will be back!
