We booked this on the same day we arrived in town. Check in was easy and the location perfect! We walked to the beach and to restaurants. I told my husband we will be back next year and then we will bring the extended family.

The property was unique and charming! it was very clean and close to everything. I walked everywhere and they even provided a bike that I was able to ride. But my absolute favorite thing there was Joyce, she made my stay so enjoyable. I want to go back already so I can have a good conversation with her. I have already recommended this place to about 6 people. I can not wait to go back.!! this time I may get a cabin with the family! ( they are on the river, with a pier)

Cozy room. Nice common room with full kitchen. Great fruit & breakfast options. Filtered water always available was enjoyable. Cute boardwalk behind and park next door. Short walk to delicious restaurants, shopping, beach & pier.

I cannot express how happy I was to find this beautiful place! We stayed in the Drunken Sailor cottage and it felt like home. Owner thinks of lots of little details to make you feel welcome. Perfect location, very kind yet professional staff, welcomed us immediately. Gave great directions for a super easy checkin. I didn’t want to leave. I can’t wait to make this my “home” next time I visit Folly Beach! Thank you all!

The bed which was listed as acceptable for two adults really was not. It was a double bed with a poor mattress, every time my husband moved my body moved and we kept bumping each other in our sleep. Check out was at 11, but housekeeping came in at 10am unannounced when we were not even dressed yet.

What a great little place! Most accommodating for any need from beach towels to umbrellas! They have it all! Need a snack, fresh cookies daily and treats in the kitchen ! Self help breakfast for on the go!

My wife and I booked a room at the inn, #5 The Betty White room. Our first 24 hours we didn't have any hot water. The problem was taken care late afternoon second day. The inn is old but in good clean condition, however the floor, walls and ceiling are wood plank and you will hear every step your neighbor takes as well as their conversations. There are blinds on the windows but they do little to block out light. We bought cheap towels and blankets at Walmart to make it a little darker our second night. Very close to down town so everything is pretty much within walking distance. Parking is on the street.

The inn was tucked away just off the main drag of Folly beach but felt quiet and secluded regardless. I was able to easily walk to the convention center on the beach each morning. The staff was kind and welcoming and I loved the almost hostel feel of the common area with breakfast and drinks available. The room was small, cozy and comfortable. I would certainly stay again. A unique stay at the beach!

Very clean room - bit noisy (outside noise, bed noisy) - power outlets all used up, have to unplug something to charge phones etc. - bed mattress rolls you to outside of bed - great atmosphere and very friendly people.

My two teenage daughters and I had a very pleasant stay in the Drunken Sailor Cottage. The location was an easy 5 minute walk to the beach. Also very easy to walk to restaurants and shops. I really liked that there were beach chairs, boogie boards and bicycles that any guest could borrow. We needed clean towels during our stay and Laura brought them right over. I would definitely stay here again.

Property was unique and enjoyable. 5 minute walk to the shops, restaurants and beach. Off street parking was no issue. Rooms were attractive, clean and very comfortable. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was wonderful. I felt like I was at home in the kitchen area. Looking forward to next stay. Highly recommended.

Riverside will always be one of my go-to hotels on Folly. The basic rooms may seem smallish but it's really everything you need for a beach vacation: comfortable, clean, and a nice bathroom. Plus the common kitchen makes it easy to prep a lunch or picnic for the beach (I'd you don't want to give up your prime spot for lunch). The staff is super friendly and helpful with lots of local knowledge and recommendations. The complimentary breakfast is way better than what you'd get at a chain hotel. Or just make your in own! The kitchen has everything you'd need (just be mindful of other guests, of course). All the rooms also have at least a mini fridge and microwave. Stay in one of the "shacks" and you get a full kitchen to yourselves. Riverside has bikes, chairs, and beach towels you can borrow for free. The outdoor shower (which is enclosed/private) is great for showering off before tracking sand into your room. From the back porch or pier you can catch the sunrise and sunset over the marsh. Even though it's close to the main road on/off the island it's surprisingly quiet. Riverside is an easy walk from everything but if you plan on walking to the beach with a cooler, bring a cart/wagon. Stop by Bert's on the way to the beach for ice or anything else you need, really.

We stayed in the Old Porch Room, which was right off the kitchen/eating area. The space was fine, and the covered porch off the back was nice (especially in the rain), but the layout of the room itself was awkward and uncomfortable. The bed was on the floor on a frame right as you opened the door. The TV was on the far side of the room, challenging to watch from the bed, and there was only one chair. The room would have been more comfortable and welcoming if the bed was where the TV was, and the little alcove where the bed currently is was the TV/sitting area, with two chairs. If the bed was in the larger space it could have accommodated at least one bedside table with a reading lamp, which would have been nice. A headboard would have been attractive, or at least a higher bed frame. The bathroom could have used a little ledge for toiletries, and more towel hooks -- there was enough space for both. On the positive side, we appreciated the recycled wood. The other rooms looked more welcoming and complete. The Old Porch Room looked like we were staying in someone's spare bedroom. Again, easily fixed with a different layout and a little more furniture. On a positive note, staff were helpful and courteous, it was nice to have a kitchen available, location is great for walking into Folly Beach. The cabins facing the marsh looked like they would be fun to stay in, but we didn't see the inside.

The staff was friendly and accommodating, the Folly Beach Cabin room was clean and spacious, and the breakfast had more than we expected. They had beach chairs, beach towels, and bikes available to take out at no charge. Expedia made an error on our reservation by having two rooms booked and refused to correct it, but the property agreed to waive all fees/charges and cancel the room themselves. We can’t say enough good things about this property and the customer service!
