Nice old building in a wonderful neighborhood with plenty of trees and older well-kept homes of various interesting architecture. The hostel is clean, quiet, and comfortable and the residents are friendly. Feels just like home but with strangers. Every morning there is coffee brewing and frying pans so you can cook your own bacon & eggs, with bread and butter for toast; or just pour a bowl of cereal. You can make your own lunch and dinner any time before 10:30 pm. Also, you can't beat the rates!

Staff and their service could have been better. There was no proper guidance to the room. Heater in the room did not work

The people at this place are so rude. I slept in my car. It was dirty and there were tweakers there. I’d rather stay at the Motel 6 or the Super 8 than this. I’d rather sleep in my car.

Location and facilities, a good value for the money. Staff competence and professionalism were, in my experience, poorer.

I had a very pleasant stay. I felt welcomed and appreciated. I felt safe.
This location is in a beautiful part of town

Is the most horrible experience I've ever had in traveling in 58 years of my life. The place has the rudest manager. An alcoholic employee went on rants and raise threatening guests in saying he was going to kill the ball. For hours on end. He did not refund my money in the last night and I refuse to stay there because I was literally afraid for my life because of this insane employee. I have reported this facility to the health department which is going to have an inspector come out on Monday

Accidentally booked the wrong dates. They refused to change it. So I burned $80 and ended up sleeping in my car on the actual dates I needed to stay in Salt Lake.

The manager spoke to me like he was Hitler and I was Jewish. REALLY LET ME KNOW I WAS NOT WELCOMED. The other staff at the desk was also VERY rude. They charged my card twice claiming the room was not paid for in the reservation. They charged me for the blankets. There are NO silvery to eat with. A very hostile environment. I guess they treat people like that cause they don't do refunds. I almost walked out to find another place to stay. I feel it was all due to my race the extreme hostile treatment I had. I COULD NOT WAIT TO GET OUT OF THERE!!! Horrible experience. This place should be called HOSTILE, and not hostel.

This is a great HOSTEL with excellent people. Everyone was welcoming. The area is nice and safe with easy access to the downtown area, the college hospital and public transportation. Full breakfast provided. Multiple areas to sit and meet. Can't say enough good things about this place. The beds are nice and firm at, least the one's in the female dorm, with ac during the summer. Staff was attentive to needs and very helpful.

check in was awful- the man at the front desk Took half an hour to find my booking and explain where everything is in the hotel. He kept reminding me that there wasn’t any refunds, which is really annoying because I accidentally booked an extra night that I wasn’t gonna be able to stay for.

I could not stay here and still had to pay. Whoever had to answer the phone was asleep and rude.

Well the verbage used in the advertisement was misleading. I was under the impression that i was renting a room with two sets of twin bunk beds for 37 dollars. It turned out that i was renting one fourth of the room. One twin sized bed, a shared room and a shared bathroom. The management had their argument prepared and treated me as if i was the least smart person on the planet. The actual room description doesn't say that you're only renting 1 bed in the room. Needless to say, in the face of such adversity, i didn't end up staying. I payed a little extra, 5 dollars, and got a room with 2 queen beds at the motel six. Also, they refused any sort of refund and didn't welcome me to breakfast or dinner, which are included in the service.

I didn’t like it at all the lady that works there is rude and accused me of destroying property when I was just sitting in the lobby area on the phone. She also said that kitchen was closed when there were people clearly coming in and out of the kitchen when me and a guy was passing by to go get dinner. The service here sucks. And this place is controllable. It has people selling and drinking too wildly in there. Poor service and poor food.

No bedbug, good breakfast, thanksgiving dinner.
I think all the young adults, were put in the same room, sometimes even disproportionately as perhaps other rooms were empty,or not as filled as ours with all the four beds filled by the second night or either they didn't want to open another room before the previous room is filled.

The avenues hostel is location is perfect for getting around downtown SLC. The staff was super kind. No complaints about my stay!

Filthy. Zero communication with customers regarding - everything. Rudely moved good tenants out of room, throwing good suit clothes and computer in garbage bag. Linen was so dirty the filth rubbed off on my skin. And YOU hotels.com are complicit; after relying on YOU during 11,000 miles/5 week cross country trip with my daughter, YOU DOUBLE CHARGED ME and hostel would not refund my money, even after I had called AND emailed you about your error 😤

Room mates were interesting folks. Some from other countries. Great experience.

I thought it was too good to be true that my companion and I would get a room (to ourselves). We ended up sharing a room with a couple strangers, in true hostel fashion. It was a nice to have breakfast and dinner included, so for the price, it was a nice stay for what we wanted.
