I love this amazing boutique mountain retreat, I count get enough of it.. the view, the food and the staff is A+. Best place in town to stay. This is exclusive to the Max
1.5 / 5.0
Overall, our stay was passable, but there are numerous areas that require substantial improvement. Frankly, given the cleanliness issues and the worn-out condition of the towels and sheets, I find it difficult to justify the hotel's price.
Starting with the positives: the location was peaceful and offered stunning views, with a convenient path to the town. The breakfast was a highlight, combining a buffet selection with made-to-order main dishes, which I would rate 10/10.
Now, addressing the negatives:
We stayed for just one night during peak season, from Saturday to Sunday.
The jacuzzi was covered in algae. While I understand the intention to reduce chemical use, this neglect led to an unacceptable level of cleanliness.
The towels and bed sheets were visibly aged and hadn't been changed recently.
In conclusion, despite some positive aspects of our stay, such as the tranquil location and excellent breakfast, the pervasive cleanliness issues and worn-out amenities make it hard to recommend this hotel, especially considering its current pricing.

Nice hotel in beautiful location, walking distance to main street. Great service and delicious breakfast. They set up great room for us for our anniversary time. We had balcony with beautiful view. Definitely coming back to Salento and this hotel.

Fabulous property. I searched a lot for places in this area, and, I felt so lucky to have found the perfect place to stay. Great location. Great ambiance.

We had such a great stay here! The property is beautiful with good amenities. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We’ll definitely stay here again if we ever return to Salento.

Property is located above the village and next to the mirador, overlooking the valley and the road to Valle del COCORA. Breathtaking view!!!

Great place to stay out of town but close enough for a 5 minute walk into town.

We loved this place, the view and the peacefulness that offers. Service was excellent...nothing to say! Very close to the town. Restaurant was very good as well.

Overall a great stay at a beautiful location. The rooms are not quite as private as they look on the booking site and their website, but otherwise a great experience.

A wonderful place to spend a couple of days visiting Salento and its surrounding area. We had the most amazing view and enjoyed top-quality hospitality from a team that went out of their way to make our stay special.

A very beautiful, cozy, tip top service retreat just outside Salento. Super service and local food - we really enjoyed it!
One wish - a little improvemet on the wifi would be nice - but we would still rate the place as a 5 star

Will definitely go back to Kawa hotel for sure! We found such a pity that we couldn’t spend decent time at the hotel due to our intensive schedule, so will try to arrange for more time chilling there next time. Breakfast and view from the room are both perfect, but the service was what amazed us the most! Very helpful and responsive reception that we didn’t need to worry about anything. Shuttle service worked out smoothly as well!

We had the absolute best time at Kawa. 10/10 would recommend. Between the staff, the views, the food, I do not have one bad thing to say about our stay. We were beyond relaxed, and also enjoyed being set outside of center of town, yet you could be there in a short walk. Since being home, we have expressed to everyone that Kawa and Salento were the highlight of our trip.

Amazing Carlos went aboveand beyond to make me feel comfortable and answer all questions. Breakfast was made to order and included. Views were unobstructed and peaceful. The room had an updated patio and shower with very hot water. All amenities were great. They even had two hotel dogs that were friendly. Only suggestion is dont put families with children in the room next to the massage room. I was not able to fall asleep due to screaming kids the entire massage session.

This place exceeded all expectations. The location, the service, the views and amenities made it a 10/10 stay.

I can’t say enough amazing things about Kawa. The location is secluded from the town so it’s very peaceful, yet you are a 6 min walk to town. Everyone was super attentive to your needs all the time. I would definitely book at Kawa again.

We had a deluxe cabin room.
Pros:
- Wonderful property and surroundings: full of gorgeous flowers and plants and the view from the various terraces of the hotel is breathtaking
- Salento downtown is only about a 5 min walk
- Super helpful staff who speak English
- Spacious, minimal design rooms with lovely paintings on the walls
- Very comfy bedding
- Lovely terrace and gorgeous view
- Breakfast is good—there’s some fruit, bread and a few freshly made dishes (eggs, French toast, yogurt w/ granola)
- Bed warmer is super useful during the cold nights
- Quiet and relaxing environment.
Cons:
- WiFi is basically non-existent—it never works
- The room has a nice design but there are no proper drawers to put clothes in
- The shower is outside on the private terrace which gets quite cold in the evenings
- Even though the room looks adorable, many things are impractical: there’s no plug near the bed to charge the phone; the lights can’t be turned off from the bed so you need to use your phone to go to bed in the dark; sliding door to the terrace/shower area is very hard to move
- Because of the big humidity, not only wet towels won’t dry but even dry clothes will be damp
- Service at breakfast is a bit slow

This property is gorgeous. It has Beautiful rooms, a spectacular view, super friendly and accommodating staff. Getting to the hotel is a bit of an adventure in itself as the road is narrow and rugged but we’ll worth the rockiness. Once you’re there, you can take a 5 minute picturesque walk through a mountainside trail to reach the town. Would love to go back!

Probably one of the best hotels I have stayed at. Staff is super friendly and helpful, rooms are clean, spacious and have a view of the beautiful valley and mountains. Also I highly recommend the massages, they are extremely good and are cheap (100-150k COP). The dinner and breakfast are also delicious so eat a night at the hotel. The hot tub provides great views and is so good after a hike.

Villas on stilts and it is very quiet and secluded. Staff is 5 star! One of the best nature hotels I have been in around the world. Love all the landscaping and some staff live here as well. Their home is now your home and they have the most hospitality I have seen in Colombia. Even more comfortable than staying with your family 😁

Overall an amazing experience, I would stay here again! There were some complicated things about arrival, all fine if you know what you're doing. You can access the hotel by a very long walk up a dirt road, or by car if you have it. Sometimes the city can be so busy that you can't get through to drive up though. Luckily there is a 5 minute secret path that goes directly from the front door of the hotel to the town. It's honestly easiest to park by the secret path and walk up that way, even with luggage. The WhatsApp number listed on Expedia is not the best form of communication, they have a different number now. If you reserve a room with the jacuzzi on the balcony know that it's best to use during the day as it doesn't heat after 10 pm. Staff were very helpful after we arrived. The restaurant on site is great. And the community hot tub on their balcony can be reserved for 1 hour at a time, a perfect sunset activity.

Amazing hotel,. The room was big, although not much to hang up clothes, beautiful view on the mountains. Excellent breakfast, fresh. Very nice staff.
The hotel proposed 2 activities (horse back riding with visit of coffee farm and 4x4 to go and see the wax palms in a valley different from Cocora, a lot of time in the 4x4 for 30 min visit, disappointing.

Great hotel really recommend it, beautiful, great food excellent service, friendly staff. Really recommend the carbonera trip. The only thing I was really disappointed was the coffee tour, to me was a ripoff.

We loved staying here. We had a beautiful cabin with spectacular views. The staff was super nice and helpful. They organized our tour to Cocora Valley with a very nice an knowledgeable guide. And a tour to a coffee farm. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was one of the best meals we had in Colombia. I truly recommend staying here. Everyone is super nice. It is close to Salento yet far from noise and very peaceful.
You will not regret staying here.

Overall a good experience but there’s a few annoying caveats to this.
1 - Very complicated to get to the actual hotel. It’s up a dirt road outside Salento. We got there on a weekend and therefore the streets were so crowded that it was impossible for the taxi to get us there, so we had to walk about 1 km with our luggage up a muddy dirt road. Fun fact, the hotel actually has a private trail accessible from a Viewpoint in town that is only a 5 minute walk but they fail to mention this before you arrive.
2 - WhatsApp responses and follow-through on requests is poor. They offered to arrange a taxi for us from Pereira airport and after asking us for our flight info, they went completely silent and didn’t arrange a taxi at all. On the flip side, know that it’s fairly easy at the airport - just walk out and get on a secure taxi in the queue (cost is about 150 000 COP).
3 - Spa in room : we paid for a private cabin with a spa on the balcony. Surprise, it doesn’t work after 10 PM, and good luck to have it warm up in the morning. We could only enjoy it once during our two night stay.
4 - Welcome drinks : awesome, you get to the hotel after walking up the muddy trail and they offer you a drink while you check in. Well, surprise, it’s not free and you get charged as you check-out. They fail to mention it’s not offered by the hotel and also fail to mention the price. About 30 000 COP for two beers.
4 - breakfast : great food but you’ll still be hungry afterwards.

Kawa was hands down the best property we stayed at on our Eje Cafetero tour of 5 towns.
The location can be complicated to reach to on a rainy day, but it seems like there is some work being done on the road to improve the access. We rented a car and did not want to drive in and out when going to Salento, so they have a path at the edge of the mountain to reach Salento.
Once you enter the property's gate and you come into a beautiful downhill with the wooden cabins and forest overlooking the Valley. Down at the bottom the Reception house is also beautiful with the restaurant and outdoors hottub in it, with the view we considered even better than Salento's two viewpoints.
The staff is very friendly, with the receptionist Odrys being very charming and helpful in giving tips and arranging anything that was needed during our stay. One of the hotel owners was even there in the morninf welcoming the guests to have breakfast and helping the kitchen staff with the orders. It was very nice to see someone involved in making their property even better.
The menu had several options we wanted to have, and all those that we chose were exceptionally tasty and well presented. On one evening we made the dinner reservation over whatsapp, with the order included, and we did not have to wait even 10 minutes to get our food.
