Please note: There are a lot of steps in the garden as it is tiered and split level in several different places and there is also a stream at the end of the garden. . Situated on the western edge of Dartmoor National Park just outside the pretty village of Bratton Clovelly, Four Chimneys offers a unique escape in beautiful surroundings. With a large private garden, off road parking, plenty of living space and easy access to some of the most picturesque landscapes in the UK, this four-bedroom character cottage is a perfect base to explore what Dartmoor has to offer. Built from traditional Devonshire cob, this 200-year-old four-bedroom property has plenty of character and offers a peaceful escape for up to eight guests.
After an action-packed day exploring Devon and Cornwall, head into the cosy open plan kitchen/diner which is well-equipped with an electric oven, gas hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer with a water dispenser and an oil-powered Aga (which is available to use between November to March). The island counter with two stools, granite worktops and bi-fold doors opening out into the garden are a beautiful feature. The handy utility area next door has a washing machine, tumble dryer and a cloakroom. Wander into the two living rooms which offer plenty of space; the first with traditional beamed ceilings, armchairs and a wood burner, and then two steps down you will discover the second room, comfortably furnished with plenty of seating, a Smart TV with Freeview and another wood burner. Perfect for watching a film with your family whilst enjoying the glows of the fire in the background. Head upstairs where there are four beautiful bedrooms. There are 3 steps leading to the first bedroom which has a kingsize bed, a Smart TV with Freeview and an en-suite with a walk-in shower and a bath with a shower head attachment. The second bedroom has a double bed and an en-suite with a shower cubicle. The third has a double bed with a beautiful view of the garden and the fourth has twin beds. Two of the rooms share use of the family bathroom which is fitted with a walk-in shower. Guests can enjoy private use of the large, enclosed garden which is a magnificent space with tiered levels and a secluded patio area next to a recently constructed sun room. A small stream runs at the end of the garden and there is outdoor seating, a firepit and a charcoal BBQ. Full of colour and wildlife, this is a wonderful haven for guests to enjoy alfresco dining or a peaceful morning coffee.
The nearby picturesque village of Bratton Clovelly is just a short 5-minute walk away and is home to the highly recommended Clovelly Inn where a warm welcome, fine ales and good food awaits. The uphill climb to the pub is great for building up an appetite! Home to 368 square miles of natural delights, Dartmoor National Park boasts a plethora of walking and cycling routes leading you through steep wooded river valleys to enticing archaeological sites. There’s so much to explore here, with ample opportunities for outdoor activity including canoeing, climbing, geocaching and more. The property’s West-Devon location means that it is possible to reach both the north and south coasts of Cornwall and Devon in under an hour. Four Chimneys is a holiday home for all seasons to explore and recharge the batteries.
