Beautiful, peaceful location. Tents were roomy and looked lovely. Great shower and toilet facilities, and John was friendly and really helpful. Lovely short overnight stay. Would like to stay for longer.

It was a great experience and John was so lovely and kind to us, super warm and became friends. It was clean, spacious and relaxing. Will definitely come back here again!

John, the host gave us a fabulous welcome. Attentive, quick and curtious response. The scenery and setting is beautiful. The tent was spotless, decorated tastefully and cosily. The facilities were faultless. The barbecue and firepit area was quaint. Perfect for a romantic getaway, or a quiet night or two away with the family.
Very little was not to like. The blow up bed was possibly a little disappointing, a more fixed bed, for the price might have been preferable. Otherwise no issues, perfect setting, ambience and attentive and kind host. Please ensure you bring cooking, camping equipment. Bedding all provided.

The tent was beautiful and so comfortable and warm (plenty of cushions and blankets). The fire pit and bbq was a great touch and we really enjoyed using this in the nights - the surroundings were beautiful! The facilities were so clean and private, you can tell these are cleaned often and care has definitely been taken. And of course I have to mention our host John…. What an amazing man! So laid back and helpful with whatever you need which made the whole experience even better. And of course the doggos!! Fabulous

What can I say! Welcomed on site by John as soon as arrived very friendly and helpful throughout the whole of our stay and made us feel comfortable straight away.
The new bathroom facilities were amazing. what looks from the outside as just normal camping showers is completely misleading. You step inside to your own shower and toilet that looks like something from an upmarket hotel - what a gem on a campsite!
The views of the mountains are spectacular. Sitting by our own firepit looking at that in the evening surrounded by subtle lighting throughout the campsite was magical.
Inside the bell tent was spectacular John has really shown an attention to detail everything from the beds made up to the bottle lights and extra rugs and blankets made this stay brilliant for us as a family and our dogs.
This was supposed to be a stop off on the way back from our family holiday but it became more like an extra holiday for us.
We will be sure to go back

The bell tents are beautifully presented and very comfortable. This is a charming site with a pretty little stream and a vast terrain where my children were happy to run around and play. John is an amazing host. Nothing was too much trouble and he called by promptly if we needed anything at all. The wet rooms are really luxurious and clean for camping.
There is nothing to dislike. A communal area for making hot drinks and somewhere to charge phones would enhance the whole experience.

Our one-night stay at Cayo Retreat was a delightful experience, defying the initial bad weather forecast. John's warm and welcoming hospitality made us feel right at home upon arrival. The tent provided was clean, spacious, and exceptionally comfortable. A small BBQ near our tent added an extra touch of enjoyment to our stay, and even our furry friend, Robin, had a great time. If you're seeking a serene environment to pause and appreciate nature's beauty, Cayo Retreat is the perfect choice for a memorable and rejuvenating getaway. Highly recommended!

The location.
Luxury? Not in our opinion. It was a very basic campsite with no shower and dixies as toilets (which by the way we couldn't flush and were used by every campingguest).
The tent was pretty basic as well and filled with a couple of airbeds and per airbed some blankets, two small tables, a box and two artificial plants. Nothing special and not like the photo's on booking.com.
The photo's have clearly been edited.
And one more thing. We were a group of four. Outside the tent was a sitting area, but only one wooden bench for 2 persons.
And the price we paid? Way to much for what you get.

The site was beautiful, clean and well presented with the most amazing views. The Bell Tent itself was nicely decorated, and we had plenty of room; I have added some pictures below. Dog was able to freely play around the site and there were nice local walks to the castle and the local village. There is a small local country pub 10 minutes walk away that welcomes dogs inside, food was good! John, was welcoming, kind, very helpful and was contactable if you had any questions, we will be returning in the future.
There was nothing we did not like about the site, we could see the development of a running shower and additional toilets that will be a good addition to the site overall.

Beautiful location and spacious bell tent. John was super welcoming and helpful. While we were out at the local pub (short walk away), John set up kindling and fire lighters, so we could enjoy a camp fire after dinner.

the location
on Booking.com it very clearly said the ‘luxury’ tent had a fireplace and that one of the facilities was a ‘shared bathroom’.
in reality, there was no shared bathroom, just a tap at the end of the field. and the fireplace was OUTSIDE the tent - so offered no warmth. my wife and daughter were freezing all night and got no sleep.
I had booked this for them as a treat, but was quite angry when they messaged me to inform me that they were very cold and could not even wash. I had intended to leave them to it, but then for some reason the owner called me (no idea why) and asked if all was OK. I told him things were not OK and explained why. He refused to accept that the Booking.com website listed facilities that didn’t exist and just kept telling me that he was number one listed and I was the very first person who had ever complained. I did get then get angry and ended the call. He then stormed over to my wife and daughter’s tent - at 10.30pm at night and start shouting at them very angrily that he was rated number one and refused to get a bad review on Trip Advisor. Not great for two women in an isolated location in a tent to have an angry man invading their privacy at 10.30pm to shout at them.
I see that he has also tried to pre-empt any review I leave by telling Booking.com that I spoke to him in a disgusting manner. I was cross, but I simply pointed out things he didn’t want to hear.
Needless to say, I wouldn’t recommend Cayo Retreat and neither would my wife or daughter who were both scared by his angry behaviour.

Nice fire pit area and bench to one side.
The stream with swing a big hit with the kids

The tents are really well presented and the beds are so comfortable! The location is perfect for a relaxing weekend. John is absolutely brilliant, so welcoming and attentive! Thank you John, we will see you again soon!
As it was a warm weekend, it would have been nice to have showers on site, this could also give us the option to extend our stay in the future!

It was in a really good location and nice area to yourself!
The toilets weren’t clean but the staff helped us out anyways.

Lovely location and very well kept. The sound of the stream makes this really idyllic. John made a real effort to make the accommodation look luxurious. Loved the surroundings. John made a great effort to get us booked in for food at the local pub too.
Not the owners fault, but the post code isn't picked up on some sat navs and you're taken to some nearby farms. Use google and it takes you to the correct location. A wash facility would be nice, but that's camping I guess.

Just simply beautiful. We were met by John who went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. After talking to John it’s easy to see his passion and love for the place is reflected onto the site. We only stayed one night but certain to be back! Food just down the road (around 10min walk) was lovely too! And the views! THE VIEWS🤩!!!! 10/10 for me! Dog friendly too! 🐶
Everything was perfect, nothing to fault.
