About this house rental
Welcome to Rhododendron Loft–a slice of Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve and local history! Unwind in this secluded, peaceful 2 bed/2 bath loft, nestled in ~5 acres of forest. Freshly decorated, tons of natural light, high ceilings, and surrounded by trees–you will love this bright and cozy loft. Perfect, central location from which to explore the island–just 5 minutes drive to the historic waterfront shops and restaurants and 15 minutes to city conveniences.
Fun fact–this property was part of the original holding of one of the first settlers of Coupeville and had been in the previous owner’s family for 5 generations. We hope to honor that history by sharing the acres of protected Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve along with our local finds and touches with our guests. We are constantly researching, curating and updating the home as we adventure and explore more ourselves.

We’ve stayed at this lovelhy place twice, both times for horse shows at Whidbey Equestrian Center (less than a mile away). It is a wonderful, peaceful and comfortable retreat. Absolutely wonderful!

The propery wasn't as clean as it might have been, but it was fine. The location is also just OK -- you can't really walk anywhere from there as it's just off Highway 20. The driveway to the house is not well marked. The beds are listed as queens, but they're really just doubles. (The fitted sheets were too big for the mattress.) Overall, it's a nice place, with some qualifications.

FYI for Guests:
Well equipped kitchen
Great location
Tranquil setting
Discover Pass in notebook
Both bathrooms are outside of bedrooms
1 shower. & 1 tub
Shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided
Feedback for the owner:
No paint brushes! That was a bummer since there’s much hype about rock painting.
Lack of outdoor furniture - a picnic table would be perfect
Indoor seating 1 couch and a variety of wood chairs - not the most comfortable
Shower turns ice cold and slows to a trickle when someone uses bathroom downstairs.
Downstairs bedroom and bathroom much cleaner than upstairs.
Upstairs bathroom walls and furniture need a good scrubbing and dusting. Many scuffs, hair on walls and ceiling, dusty fixtures.
Upstairs bedroom - cobwebs and stained headboard were icky.
Would be nice if there was a recycling bin.

My kids and I were performing at the Penn Cove water festival and driving out from Seattle and back can be exhausting. So this was perfect respite after a long day. Beds were comfortable. Baths were fully stocked. Living room area was sweet and welcoming.
Next year I might book th whole weekend as this was such a nice place.

This was perfect for us - scrupulously clean, well-stocked kitchen, close to all the sights and shopping. Beautiful property, good parking. We can't say enough good things - hope we can come back some time!

Spacious accommodation surrounded by woods. Feels like miles from anywhere, but centrally located for site seeing on the island. Everything you need in with a view of the woods right out our windows.

This was a wonderful place to stay. It's cozy, private, clean, and welcoming. The kitchen was well stocked. My personal favorite is that there were plenty of boxes of tissue throughout the house. Thank you!

This was the perfect spot to relax in and enjoy celebrating 49 years of marriage. We were central to our favorite hikes, restaurants, and art shops. Your home is beautiful and had everything we needed. We especially loved the rock painting. Thank you.

We stayed at the Rhododendron Loft and it was awesome! It had everything we needed and more! The host was great and very quick to respond. The island is beautiful with many amazing places to see. This property was centrally located on the island so nothing was far away.

I traveled from Oklahoma to attend the Wooden Boat Festival at Port Townsend and the location of this property was perfect! We rode bikes to the ferry and ferry over to Port Townsend for each of the 3 days and had a blast! The town of Coupeville was also a bonus to explore!
This house was very well appointed with many details provided that made the stay feel like home.
I would recommend it and hope to come again next year.

We enjoyed staying in this house for 5 nights while we explored the island. We wanted something fairly centrally located making it easy to get around. The house was clean and everything worked well. We only used the upstairs bedroom and the bed is super comfy! We brought our dog and there were dog bowls and poop bags there for us. There's also a 10 acre fenced dog park right down the road. I would definitely go back again.

This is such a lovely place for a quick getaway. It’s super close to amazing food options in Coupeville, and just enough removed where you get to feel like you’re in the forest. The place was super clean, and had everything you could need to be comfortable.
Couple things to note for people considering: I was able to bring my small do with me for an additional fee. And while this next detail bares no weight whatsoever on my experience when the rental — it’s worth noting that this location (like a lot of Whidbey Island) is very close to an air base that has alarming traffic and extremely loud noise. I wasn’t aware of this when I reserved the spot, so it took me by surprise when it sounded like jet planes were flying super close overhead. This was around 8:30pm the night I stayed, and persisted for almost an entire hour. Again to be clear, this had no impact on my enjoyment of the stay, but I would have liked to known myself about this so it didn’t surprise me as much as it did (I was terrified for a few minutes while I was looking up what was going on, haha).
Thank you for the amazing hospitality! Couldn’t recommend this place more 😀

Super cute, family-friendly spot. Nice yard and forest to explore with the kids. Close to Fort Casey and Coupeville.

My mom and I had a perfect stay at the Rhododendron Loft and were impressed by the cleanliness, beautiful location, and our host’s attentive communication which made checking in and out super easy and stress-free. Prime spot to explore Ebey’s Landing and the natural beauty of Whidbey! Would absolutely love to stay here again—my only complaint is that we weren’t able to stay longer! :-)

Great house! Super clean and the host was great to work with! We will definitely rent again from them!

The home was very comfortable, and had all the amenities I was looking for. It was walking distance to Rhododendron State Park and across the road from the Rhododendron Trail which we rode our bikes to the Kettles Trail system. Location is also a couple of miles from downtown Coupeville. Our dogs loved running off leash at the Greenbank Farm. The Bayview farmer's market was amazing. Even though there are two homes for rent on this property, the properties feel secluded and offer ample privacy. The host was wonderful and very easy to communicate with. Definitely recommend staying at this lovely property.

Our stay at Rhododendron Loft was more than we could have hoped for. The house is beautiful, very clean and was well-stocked with everything we needed. Plenty of towels, extra pillows and blankets, dishes, laundry pods and much more. The property was just as beautiful and also private. The owners were very quick to respond when we had a few minor questions and they sent a very kind message thanking us for staying with them afterwards. We loved the rock painting supplies and put them to good use when my fiancé and I decided to paint some rocks we found on local beaches. The house is secluded but still close enough to everything (30-40 minutes to get to the North or South of the island, about 15 min to Oak Harbor). We very much enjoyed our stay and definitely want to come back soon! ~Steve & Erin

Great experience, my wife is ocd when it comes to cleanliness and she liked it. The wood burning stove was a perfect touch to a stress free stay. One thing to note, if you’re staying here during the week you must like the sound of freedom because the Navy jet base is right up the road and there is a outlying field about 1 mile down the road that they sometimes do landings at. They didn’t seem to fly there past 10 pm. Overall, would definitely recommend!

Enjoyed the ferns and beautiful surroundings. Lovely home away from home for us. Enjoyed the black binder full of local information.

This property is a spacious and beautiful space to settle into the slower pace of island life. If you stay here in the colder months, bring warm clothes as the heating system takes many hours to warm up the large house. It is close to downtown Coupeville's attractions and yet there is a feeling of seclusion.

We had a wonderful stay here. Very clean, roomy, and comfortable. Check in and check out was easy, communication was thorough. Whidbey Island is so beautiful! Highly recommend this getaway.
