Loved the place, the service and the very friendly staff

Great location with a great breakfast and really helpful staff. Right next to cruise boat for trip to Flam. Bakery was lovely as well. Fish restaurant was superb.

Perfect location. The room was older but comfy. The shower worked well but great potential for making a mess.

This hotel is situated amongst a stunning natural environment. We stayed in a Viking-styled room adding to our experience. The hotel is conveniently located to hike trails, kayak rent and scenic fjord cruises. There is a fantastic seafood restaurant on site.
The location comes with a price as there are many tour groups come to visit the Viking village and the place. Though the hikes we went on were quiet and tranquil and we enjoyed a trip to nearby Bakka. So there is a chance to escape the crowds. The large glass door of our room was overlooking the pedestrian bridge so we truly didn’t have much privacy. The view from the ceiling window was beautiful (overlooking the falls) and we wished the lounge chairs or the bed were better located in the room to enjoy the view. Having more hooks in the bathroom and the bath mat would have been handy.

The room was worth what we paid for it with its Viking theme and window in the ceiling. The room and bathroom had plenty of room to spread out. The breakfast was good and there was almost no one else in the dining room when we eat breakfast.
Unfortunately, we did not see much through our ceiling window at night due to the cloud cover and our room location. We also did not have one of the few rooms with views of the waterfalls through their windows.

We were able to check in early.
Breakfast was very good and they had a lot of options (not much fresh fruit though). Delicious bread and scones.
There was a fridge in the room, which was very helpful.
Despite the big parking lot, it is a beautiful location with waterfalls on both sides of the fjord.
The bed and room was comfortable - where we stayed looked very new.
The staff cleaned every day.
Gudvangen is a convenient location with the car -- it is not far from Flam, Aurland, and other small cities for hikes. It also has the ferry stop and bus shuttles go to Gudvangen. There are kayaking activities starting out of Gudvangen.
It is also convenient to have a grocery store and gas station on site.
When we arrived to Gudvangen, we were surprised at the location - the hotel was right next to a big parking lot full of buses unloading tourists for the ferry and other attractions in Gudvangen village. We were lucky that our hotel room was away from the parking lot, but it would have been very frustrating to be in a room overlooking that (because many did).
It was hard to park a few times because there were no spaces that were reserved only for hotel guests.
The room lacked basic facilities for clothing except for a few hanging rods on the walls. They did not have luggage racks, closets, or dressers -- adding something like this would be nice.
The grounds were sometimes unkept / not very neat (garbage bags, cleaning racks hanging around all day in the areas by the hotel cabins).
Considering the price, we expected that some of the finer details like these would have been addressed better.

Location for our cruise the next day was perfect.
Our room was extremely hot and there was not really a way to vent it except leave the door open and then they skylight had not curtains so they had to give us eye masks because of the midnight sun. It was like you were in a fish bowl.

The location is indescribable and makes staying here absolutely worth it. The views are breathtaking from every angle. The room was comfortable and a good size with plenty of room to spread out compared to other hotels we stayed in on our trip. The breakfast buffet was average, as to be expected, but the waffles were incredible! There is a little cafe on site that had great coffee, pastries, and pizzas (even gluten-free & vegetarian options, which was a nice surprise!). Staff members were welcoming, friendly, and helpful.
It was hard to darken the room before going to sleep due to the hours of sunlight the area gets in mid-May. There is a sky light that does not have any shade/coverage, so the room remained bright throughout the night. The view through the sky light was incredible, nonetheless.

The location of this hotel is exceptional, as is the concept, BUT the hotel itself is in need of a refurb and refresh, especially given it was the most expensive place we stayed during our 12 day tour of Norway. We stayed in a Viking room in the round house - a bit gimmicky, but fun. All in all, a pleasant stay - mainly due to the views of the fjord and the onsite Viking village.
The room was of a good size but needed a fresh coat of paint. The skylight was so dirty it was difficult to see through and one of the easy chairs in the room came apart when I sat on it (and I'm not THAT heavy!). The plastic toilet seat in the bathroom was cracked and I would have expected a glass shower screen, not a curtain, in a hotel in this price range. Breakfast was plentiful, but the uncovered items did have a few flies around them, which put us off.

The hotel is in an unbelievably gorgeous location on Nærøfjord. The gentleman at the reception, who checked us in, was very friendly, although he was incredibly busy. The room, a little efficiency, motel-like place, far from the water, was very new and clean. The little coffee shop/bakery/pizza place next door that's part of the whole outfit had great food and also very friendly people.
You pay for the location. It was an absolute zoo. The breakfast was all very low-quality, mass-produced stuff. One of the worst we had during our entire trip. We didn't try the restaurant because we didn't want to be ripped off. The pictures of the rooms on the website are very misleading. Most of the rooms are like motel rooms in the US and look nothing like the rooms advertised on the website. There's nothing WRONG with them, but it's false advertising, in my opinion. Had I known, I would have booked a different hotel for less money.

We were able to book a room the day we needed it due to another lodge having a duplicate reservation. Good restaurants.
A little cheesy decor, but was fine.

The location is just perfect: inside the fjord surrounded by mountains, with a view to the highest waterfall of Norway, if I'm not mistaken. The hotel consists of several houses, we got a house quite far from the main building with restaurants, so we had to have a 3-4 minute walk. The house was clean, with a fresh interior. It was possible to park a car next to the house.
Due to the rainy weather, it was a bit difficult to get into the house due to unpaved road, which was quite dirty because of the rain. Inside, there was no place to leave the shoes to dry (we had to leave them on a laminated floor in the narrow hallway, it wasn't possible to keep socks dry when walking from the stairs to the ground floor). There were also no hooks to leave wet jackets.

Located beside the fjord with stunning views; tourist attractions and activities were within the vicinity, like the Viking village, fjord cruise, and water sports. There was also a convenience store outside the hotel.

My 2 nights here were fantastic!
The room is clean and comfortable.
The location is lovely with a great view surrounded!
The breakfast is delicious. They also have a restaurant offering dinner which is excellent and the price is friendly. I would suggest having dinner here. Also, the staffs are friendly and helpful.
At the beginning before my arrival, I was a bit worried that the location & the view wouldn't be as nice as those hotels in Flam, HOWEVER, I find out that this hotel in Guvangen is wonderful!!! I would come here again :) Thank you so much!

What an amazing hotel! There has been so much thought, love, and care put into this place. The most unique hotel I've ever been to, with some of the most gorgeous views in the world! And the Viking Valley is an absolute must-see!

The location is spectacular, and the windows at the viking-themed rooms do the place justice! It is absolutely recommended that you go the extra mile and book the themed rooms for the best experience :) We visited during winter and the snowed mountains of the fjord made laying on the bed feel like flying!
The hotel is 5 min by foot from Njardarheimr, the "viking village" which is also a great to visit, but preferably in the summer as there are more inhabitants. The breakfast is not the best I have seen, but is quite decent and gets the job done.
I particularly recommend this hotel to families with children.
In our room, the glass ceiling was a little bit cracked - just an aesthetic damage but worth mentioning nonetheless.
