About this apartment rental
This comfy, new, modern studio-apartment is perched on Cliff Drive (a cliff) 2 minutes walk above the entrance to Zilker Park, the site of Austin City Limits Live Music Fest... and Restaurant Row with Austin's signature Tex-Mex restaurant, Chuy's, serving huge, inexpensive deluxe platters and their sister eatery, The Shady Grove, or Juliet's Italian Ristorante and across the street is Juiceland & the Kava Bar with one of two trailer-food parks, all a stone's throw away on Restaurant Row, a short walk down a wooded hill. A guest once said, "You're 5 minutes from 'everything Austin'..." and its literally true. You can be Downtown in your seat at the Paramount theatre in 10 minutes or walk to Whole Foods World Hdqtrs, founded here, just a short walk, over Town Lake across a beautiful foot bridge on South Lamar. Conveniently walk to all SXSW venues... The Convention Center is 1.5 miles; the Long Center and Auditorium Shores are a half mile away; and, ACL Live in Zilker Park is our immediate neighbor, less than a five (5) minute walk inside thru the venue's city-side entrance.
Wake up on The Cliff above the famed Barton Springs pool with a pot of French-press gourmet coffee, you can walk for a swim or an adventure on Town Lake, walk/ jog the Green Belt just a minute from your door. Canoes and Kayaks for rent just minutes down the hill from your door. Choose from many eateries, coffee shops, or the wonderful Daily Juice bar, all minutes walk through a safe, quiet pocket neighborhood; or, you can make your own at the Bamboo Room Studio. There is a private outdoor patio to the side. The apartment is set up for two and can accommodate a 3rd, in the extra bed in the loft up a half-spiral stair.
The walk to Barton Springs has an option to go through the woods beside the Umlauf Sculpture Garden, down a rocky trail, which is literally a "woods path" directly into the spring-fed pools around which Native Americans settled for millennia--now the soul of Austin--to bathe in the healing, mineral-spring fed water bubbling up into an enormous pool and waterfall, the reason populations settled here and drew the first Austin settlement that became the heart of Texas--put a towel around your neck and walk down thru' the woods for the experience.
The Saxon Pub is our neighbor --a legendary music scene that still has our best players appearing on weeknights for a $5 entry, it's a 10 minute walk from our door-- and you pass the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema South on the way, where film directors and actors congregate when in town, serving awesome food and drinks during the movies on perfect screens in intimate stadium seating. South Austin 78704 is our 'hood and this Zip Code is the inspiration for "Keep Austin Weird" due to the proliferation artists and musicians living here on the south shore of the downtown... many many of the very best restaurants and small music venues are immediately available for walking--South Austin is the spirit & heart of the true, laid-back Austin lifestyle that has made our little city famous.

A quaint “backyard studio apartment” in a beautiful quiet neighborhood. The perfect location to explore Barton Springs and the Austin area.

The location of the Bamboo room is perfect—the Barton Springs pool was absolutely a highlight of the trip. I recommend renting bikes, biking to the neighborhood you want to explore, and then set out on foot. The hosts had great recommendations for restaurants and clubs. Overall, the trip was fantastic. We stayed for four days and could have used at least two more to see everything we wanted to.

Quirky , enchanting home with lots of character. Close to EVERYthing in South Austin. Easy access by walking or bike to everything to do in the area. Will definitely come back again.

I was here as a solo traveler, and this property is a perfect size for one. It is quite small, but since you’re only there to sleep, that’s not a huge problem. The location is terrific...near bus lines, a gorgeous park, some great restaurants and shops.

Honestly was in a great location super close to Barton Springs, Chuy's, and The Picnic -Food Trucks. Herb the host's recommendations were spot on including Elizabeth's Street Cafe for Brunch and The White Horse for evening Entertainment. And seriously you can't bet the quite of the neighborhood in the middle of Austin. Last but not least... The Coffee the Host's provided for morning coffee seriously wish I could get is delivered to my real house every morning.

Loved my stay at the Bamboo Hideaway! Herb and Valentina are so warm and welcoming and made us feel like we were a part of their family. It is a cute, clean little place with everything we needed. Beds were comfy, cable TV, internet, and good coffee! Very quiet neighborhood with lots of trees. Will stay here every time I’m in Austin.

Herb and Valentina are the consummate hosts. From thoughtful touches like the French press, almond milk and great coffee (felt just like home 😊) to perfect communication and awesome recommendations on the “off menu” items at local restaurants, they made my stay easy and enjoyable.
The apt is cozy, but well-appointed, and ultimately super-comfy. The neighborhood is beautiful, and an easy walk through Zilker park to offices on Mopac if desired. Tons of amazing restaurants close by- highly recommend Chuy’s, Uchi and Odd Duck.
Thanks for a great stay!

we came to Austin for ACL and wanted a location that we could walk to easily and this is the perfect spot. 5 minute walk to front entrance and several restaurants and Food Trucks as well. Our host Herb really made us feel at home, we came in from Florida and didn't expect a sudden 40 degree drop in temperature our 1st night here and had no long sleeve shirts or jackets. Herb brought over clothes to save the day! Among other things he really made our stay perfect.

Clean, quiet, comfy and cozy! What more is there? How about a great host and outstanding location in close proximity to Zilker Park, Barton Springs and amazing eats. Couldn’t ask for a thing better!! Can’t wait to come back next year! Thank you, Herb and Valentina!

Herb is the property manager and he and his wife Valentina were so amazing. They made the whole process easy ( it was our first VRBO experience). They provided amazing coffee and went and got the creamer of our choosing before we arrived. They provided us with great local information such as restaurants. It was a very carefree relaxing get away.

If you like hotels and related amenities, don’t stay here (nothing wrong with that). If you want the Austin experience, somewhere quiet in a great neighborhood, great hosts, covered free parking, amazing location, all the comforts of home... on & on.... this is your place. Perfect for couples, but a studio upstairs bed can sleep a guest/kid. Walking distance from the original Chuy’s, just steps further to Barton Springs... and Herb is awesomeness.

Loved it.

The location of the property is great. We picked it based on that, and it was a good call. Also, our hostess was accommodating of our schedule. However, we experienced plumbing issues in both the bathroom and kitchenette, it was so tiny that we felt cramped, and the odor of cat urine was very unpleasant. Generally we felt like we were slumming. We are an older couple and have developed higher expectations than we had when younger.
