About this house rental
There is really something quite magical about Stowe, Vermont.
This property is situated in this pretty New England Village. The mountain is also easily accessible for skiers too. There is even a free shuttle bus from the end of the road to take you there. The house is perfect for couples, families, groups of friends.
Spend afternoons after skiing or after a relaxed breakfast, sauntering around this charming New England village with the only dilemma being which coffee house or deli to visit, or which Falls to visit and take in their resplendent scenery and atmosphere.
When i first visited Stowe, i felt as if i were in a winter wonderland. I hadn't realised it is also amazing during the Summer and Fall seasons.
Also particularly suited to all sports whether winter sports or hiking, bike riding, walking, tennis, golf etc. We have also just purchased a double kayak for your use also. Paddles and life jackets also available.
Or just relax on the porch, sitting by beautiful Waterbury reservoir, taking a small picnic with you from Harvest Market or Cafe on Main being my favourites or take a trip to the top of Mount Mansfield whether by car or chair lift in the winter. Beautiful views across to Mount Washington and the Canadian border
Go visit Lake Champlain in Burlington in the summer and take a boat across to New York state. You are also near the Canadian border with Montreal being the closest part of Canada to Stowe, about an hour and a half car ride away. I believe you can fly to Montreal as well as Boston, although I have never done so myself.
My house is on the edge of centre to the village of Stowe where you can take a leisurely stroll to enjoy the many features typical of a New England village which is well serviced with beautiful restaurants as well as other facilities along the Mountain Road ( a free shuttle bus is available from the village along the Mountain Road to Mount Mansfield and Spruce Peak for skiing if you don't have a car with you). You can also travel easily to other ski resorts from Stowe such as Jay Peak and Smugglers Notch.
"Once the day is done there is nothing more heavenly that to retreat to The Four Seasons, maybe turn on the fire or cosy up to watch tv in the den."
My family has a strong association with the Village and to own a piece of it is a dream come true. Everyone who stays wants to come back. The property has 3 bedrooms, one being in the basement which has been finished to a high standard including shower room, utility room and den with seating and flat screen tv, plus a warm room to keep your ski boots toasty. The master bedroom upstairs is en suite with a large dressing room also. The second bedroom is also upstairs and next to the family bathroom.
Stowe is not only a truly remarkable place, but also became home to the Von Trapp family from the Sound of Music, is home to the original Ben and Jerry's nearby and has its own ghost, Emily, after which a covered bridge is named. The ski trails are fantastic and in the summer, are a treat to walk and hike for the amazing views.
The Green Mountain Inn along the road from this property is a quintissential New England inn where the Whip bar and Grill serves some beautiful food or you could just pop along for a cocktail in the bar in the evening while your dinner is cooking in the slow cooker in oilthe fully fitted kitchen. You must try the Green Mountain Inn brunch and Bloody Mary's at weekends. If you prefer to cater for yourselves, there are several grocery stores in the village and because its the US, almost every restaurant caters for take out service too.
The Four Seasons itself has a large walk out porch where you can sit on the comfortable porch furniture during the summer and barbeque or in the winter to just view the snowy surrounds (we use the grill in winter too). The land opposite is a nature reserve and we have seen deer walk across the road in front but beyond that are tennis courts and a newly refurbished ice rink. What more could you want from a property that sleeps 8 for the price of a room in a local hotel, where every need is catered for, even for the reader, my favourite book shop, Bear Pond Books.
If you're looking for a spa with pool and beauty and relaxation treatments, we often use the Topnotch resort along the Mountain Road. There is even an outdoor heated pool with views of Mount Mansfield and fire pits lit around the pool during the evening.
Apres ski is fully catered for in the Village. Go to Sushi Yoshi for free wings with every drink, Doc Ponds within walking distance for a great vibe and food or be a little more discerning by eating in Plate, also within walking distance of the house. I think this might be my favourite restaurant at the moment.
A couple of reviews from this year are as follows:
' secluded in the heart of the village. What a great location! A few short steps away from the village and yet sitting on the deck you feel like you are on the back roads. This unit is very clean and very well appointed.'
'beautiful home. We really enjoyed our extended stay in this home. We rented it for 6 months. The layout of the house is fantastic, especially the large master suite with walk in closet and private bath. What was also great was the location -- easy and quick walk to restaurants and shops in Stowe. House is well appointed and included everything we needed. Thanks!' and my latest reviews from only a few weeks ago says
'“Excellent choice!”
Very nice, clean, just as in the pictures.
The beds are great, good mattresses, pillows and linens are all new.
Very well located at walking distance to Stowe center and good restaurants.
Owner very helpful
One bathroom for each bedroom is a great advantage.
Nice kitchen very well equipped, everything good quality'
“Beautiful house in the lovely Stowe”
We stayed at the Four Seasons in the week running up to Christmas - it was wonderful. The house is spacious and well furnished. It is in a perfect location for skiing and exploring Vermont. Wonderful property, I hope we get the chance to go again.
Ive been told it smells like Maple Syrup indoors! I guess that means its warm and welcoming and they said how surprised they were that it is so comfortable for a rental that sometimes can seem so impersonal.
Each time we visit, we make new purchases and this winter we bought some more great quality rugs, added vintage skis and other touches to help that welcoming feel.
Enjoy and treat as your home.
Christmas decorations available for anyone renting at that time of the year.

Great walkable location to the cute little town of Stowe. I booked this property almost two years in advance for the solar eclipse viewing April 8th 2024. Susan answered all my questions and honored the booking. The property was clean and ready to host our group of 8. Plenty of parking for all of us coming in separate cars. We'd love to come back again!

We had a fantastic week at the Four Seasons! The house is wonderful for a family - well stocked, lots of bathrooms and teens could hide in the basement living area while adults were upstairs in kitchen and main living room. We've stayed closer to the mountain at Stowe in the past but loved being 2 blocks from the gorgeous downtown, a quick walk to all the shops and off course Black Cap cage and bakery! We are hoping to come back soon!

Stayed with our family and friends - we had 4 adults and three children. All fit comfortably. Great location close to downtown and 15 min to Stowe. Just be aware if you’re traveling with children there are quite a few stairs that don’t have gates on them - we were fine just something to manage. Appreciate the clear communications throughout.

We are so grateful to celebrate another Thanksgiving holiday at Susan's amazing property! The home was equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals, and there was plenty of space to gather as a family. We really enjoyed the new appliances. Being walking distance to Stowe Village and a short drive to the slopes and excellent restaurants was very beneficial. Susan was very responsive and extremely accommodating when our plans had to change due to car trouble at the end of our trip, for which I will be forever thankful. We look forward to returning to Stowe and Susan's gorgeous property next year!

We loved our stay here! We had great access to everything in town but in a quiet, low-traffic location. The house is very spacious but cozy and comfortable - a perfect place to unwind after exploring various areas of VT. This home, and Stowe in general, was a great hub for us. We'd like to come back!

Gorgeous property in a picturesque town. Very walkable to Main Street Stowe. Nice and peaceful. House is set up perfectly for multiple couples or families and has fun amenities like a jet tub in the master bath. Ample parking, right outside the main door. We had some maintenance issues that were out of the property manager/owners control and they were MORE than accommodating and very responsive. We would absolutely stay here again and reccomend others

We loved our stay at 196B depot street. The tie house was immaculate when we arrived. The kitchen has any pan you need to cook with. If your a coffee lover you will love all the appliances. The location of the townhouse is superb. Walking distance to restaurants, shops and recreation path is wonderful. You are a 5 minute walk to everything. If you are a PICKLEBALL fan as we are you are in for a treat. The courts are a 5 minute walk from the townhouse and the people are very friendly.
We have booked this property again for 6 weeks next august/ September so yes we definitely give this property a 5 star review
Susan is a great host and very easy to work with

Went to Stowe for the weekend to ski. The ski conditions were icy so we only skied one day. However we were pleasantly surprised by the lovely location with nice restaurants and shops. We very much enjoyed the cozy house and would rent again.

Location and condo fit our family’s needs well
The oven does not work properly and we could not cook the food we brought. It just didn’t get hot enough. The kitchen faucet drips continually. These items are in need of attention
Overall we had a nice time

We had a wonderful experience staying at The Four Seasons! The pictures posted here don’t do this property justice, the rooms are enormous! We had a very comfortable stay with 8 adults, 3 couples staying in bedrooms and two adults on the couch. The property’s proximity to town was excellent, we walked into downtown Stowe multiple times it was no more than a 5 minute walk. Proximity to Stowe mountain was also convenient and we utilized the free shuttle from the center of town to the mountain for a great day of skiing. Communication with the property management company was quick and efficient. We look forward to staying here again in the future and highly recommend this property to other groups of friends and families!!

Communication with owner - Perfect. Very quick to respond to questions. Had great suggestions for a perfect trip. Check in was easy.
Home was comfortable for 6 ladies. Lots of room with attention to details. Comfortable beds. Quality linens and great towels. Well stocked kitchen to cook meals at home if that is what you want to do.
A welcome gift was waiting for us and thought that was a sweet gesture.
We had a great time in Stowe, loved our stay and if we are ever back in that part of the country would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had a great stay here- easy walk to downtown and a comfortable living space. Would be a nice place for a family or group to stay in the winter for skiing! (We were up for a wedding and the foliage was beautiful.)

I would highly recommend booking this spot. The checkin process was easy and contactless which we appreciated. The home was spacious, comfy, cozy, and less than 10 minutes to most of the stuff we wanted to do. Loved all of the signs in the home that provided instructions for guests. The jacuzzi was amazing and we appreciated the welcome chips and salsa. It's a great home and we will definitely book again next time we visit stowe.
Of course there is always room for improvement- the front door entrance to the porch did not lock at all which made us feel a bit unsafe in the home, especially at night. Also, the master bedroom shower curtain had mold on it. And we wished there were some plates provided in the kitchen, even if it was just plastic plates.

We had to get help for tv. Batteries were dead. Hard to use.
We liked location.
Not good for disabled seniors because of stairs.

The house was perfect for a summer vacation in Vermont. It was quite hot while we were in Stowe so we were very glad that we had air conditioning. The house was clean and comfortable. The check-in process could not have been easier. It was an easy walk into town and a short drive to just about everything you'd want to do in the area. Clean, comfortable beds, great shower -- my three criteria for a great rental!

There were many great things about the property and you could tell that the home was lovingly appointed with care. The location near town is very convenient to restaurants, and shopping. The bedrooms are big, the basement is nice, and the townhouse is well laid out. Dog friendly, which is always a big plus in our book.
The townhouse is on a street with sidewalks, walking distance to the Stowe recreation trail and has a walking loop you can do with your dog, which are very convenient for people that like to bring their dogs.
However, there were things that could easily be improved and seemed to be a result of poor management by the management company:
The mini-split A/Cs had not been serviced and the one in the Master Bedroom was not functioning and made a loud clicking noise -- and controllers were missing. The 2 mini-split a/c units are dirty and have substantial mold growth, not just on the louvered vent covers but also in mini-duct inside the unit.
We asked to have the clicking noise in the master bedroom mini-split addressed on Monday. The a/c repair workers didn’t show up until Thursday afternoon-- with 3 minutes notice from the office (after no communication following a lot of emails and phone calls) so we couldn't accommodate them.
In addition, the porch (and the porch furniture) was extremely dirty and dusty (clothes were covered in dirt from sitting down). When we asked to have it cleaned, no one called to schedule a time, they just sent over a cleaning person with a small rag and a bottle of Windex. She needed a bucket, a mop and a hose. Fortunately, the neighbors let us borrow their hose and we cleaned off the porch and washed the covers on the porch furniture ourselves.
Finally, while the location was convenient, it was not tranquil. The street where the house is located is busy. Apparently, the locals use it as a back entrance to Main street. So, it sees a surprising amount of car traffic, particularly from work trucks, which makes for substantial street noise, making it difficult to enjoy the porch if you’re bothered by noise. Also, the locals frequently speed on that road.
The townhouse is located near a public basketball court, and the people play music there pretty late into the night. It probably wouldn’t have been a problem if we could have closed the bedroom windows and used the mini-splits but we had to sleep with the windows open and, on one occasion, had to ask the Stowe police to ask them to turn off the music.

We enjoyed our time in Stowe so much. It was the perfect location to work & school from home and ski whenever possible. We loved being so close to the village and <15 mins to the mountain. The Four Seasons had everything we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked, and we enjoyed cooking on the BBQ too. The living spaces were cozy, and we especially loved the gas fireplace. All of the beds were comfy. Thank you!
