I cannot wait to visit again. I’ve been to Lake Anna many times in other rentals and this home exceeded every expectation. It is absolutely huge and a steal for the price. Exceptionally private and well outfitted, we were busy from dawn until dusk every day. The keyless access made daily activities for all of our guests absolutely seamless. I had a couple of questions during my stay and I was able to quickly resolve them with Vacasa. The landscape and scenery was stunning! There’s a butterfly garden in the front that took my breath away. The kids can’t stop talking about how much fun they had swimming off the dock and sleeping in the bunk room. 5-star experience!!

This was by far the worst rental we have ever stayed at and the service provided by Vacasa was even worse. Upon arrival, we found that the gas fireplace in the living room was not working and the lights in the basement were not working properly either, making it very dark. There was no heat in the basement as it was freezing down there to a point where we needed jackets. The bedroom my wife and I stayed in was in the basement, and that was also freezing cold with a draft that was coming in from the closed window. We had to put towels by the window to try and help with the cold draft. I immediately contacted Vacasa, informed them of these issues, and was told a ticket has been created and someone will contact me shortly, but no one did. We could not sleep because of how cold it was in the basement and it was the worst night sleep we have ever had staying at a rental and we have stayed at plenty of them. We stayed a total of 3 nights, 4 days and I contacted Vacasa every single day to have someone fix these issues and every single time it was the same answer that, “the ticket is open and the local staff is aware of the issues and they are working on this”. During our entire stay none of these so called “local staff” members bothered to reach out or show up to try and address these issues. The house was poorly cleaned and our guests found a bundle of hair on a pillow in their room. Overall, I would not recommend this rental at all and would also avoid using Vacasa at all costs.

The place was great with plenty to do indoors on the mostly rainy days that we experienced--lots of books, games, places to hang out. The bunk room was perfect for little kids and the master suite was perfect for the old folks. Everything was super clean and furnishings up to date. It's in a great area for walking. We thank the owners for maintaining such a wonderful place for our family reunion. BUT Vacasa on the other hand... The coded lock was DOA. We called 3 times, and couldn't get through to them that the batteries in the lock were dead. They never sent anyone to fix it. Thanks to an unlocked door, and an actual house key, we were able to get in, and come and go. Also, the check out information didn't arrive until 8:30 am the day we were scheduled to leave. We were already home by then since we left a day early. Hope we got it right.

We enjoyed the place with the view of the lake from within steps of the house. Inside and outside of the house. It is a lake house with a majestic fireplace. If weather does not suit to be outside. There is a lot to do inside the house. With 4 cars we still had room on the pavement to set up a portable pickleball court that we brought to play!

This large house is on a great piece of land with lots of privacy. The layout of the house was a bit odd, but incredibly spacious and well furnished. Plenty of parking for 5. The 2 adult kayaks, canoes and paddleboards were a fantastic treat. The firepit was perfect and right off the water. We loved the solid fixed dock with both sun and shade as well as enough room for sunbathers and fishermen. The upper deck and seating for 8 was ideal for coffee and a book. The dining room that the listing defines as a library was a pleasant surprise! The house itself was gorgeous and we definitely appreciated the extras like games, books, soaps and towels.
We had some minor complaints about some maintenance needs (unattached railings, missing ceiling tiles, a sliding door) that Vacasa quickly said they would have someone look at after our trip. We also had an issue with the hot water as it seemed to cycle on and off continuously. Again, Vacasa assured us it would be taken care of.
We will go back. We very much enjoyed the space and the peacefulness of this home.

I took my husband here to celebrate his retirement with our 2 boys and their families. A beautiful home with everything we could have needed. Beautiful lake view and the use of paddleboat, kayaks, etc. The kitchen was stocked with everything (pots, pans, dishes, utensils) we needed to cook a wonderful crab and shrimp feast for his retirement dinner. The grandkids (ages 10, 8) loved the downstairs family game room. The home has the perfect name, it reminded me of a lodge or resort in Maine. My husband is from Maine, so this was perfect for him. We will definitely stay there again. The only complaint was the hot water....it would not stay hot long enough to finish our showers. But, all in all, a wonderful time!!

Game room downstairs was a hit with grandchildren 23 to 4 years old. Decking and seating around home very nice. Firepit used twice and cooked smores. Large upstair greatroom wonderful for big gatherings with our group. Plenty of chairs to seat our group of 11 for meals

This place has it all! From an incredible game room downstairs with arcade games, a pool table, and ping pong, to waterside access to Lake Anna to on-site kayaks and paddle boards, Flying Moose is fully equipped with everything you’ll need for a perfect lakeside weekend. With ample space (5 bedrooms, 3 bath) it’s a perfect getaway for friends and family alike and provides everyone with their own space. You will not regret booking a stay here, that’s for sure. Everything is so well taken care of, all you have to do is relax.

This place has everything! Had an awesome friends weekend using the grill, firepit, games, arcade, and canoes. Already booked our next trip.

The Flying Moose Lodge was gorgeous! The view was spectacular. The surrounding grounds wonderful. BUT, the place was filthy. Black mold in every bathroom, food encrusted on the tables, the floors had not been mopped in ages. I could go on....I only wish the powers that be, would take better care of such a potentially great place!

4 Generations spent the weekend celebrating the birthdays of 90 and 91 year old great grandparents! Although the weather was not conducive to outdoor play, no one notice with all of the great options for entertainment found in this rustic yet comfortable and very spacious home! Everyone had a terrific time and we plan to return when the weather is warmer so we can partake of the waterfront options which are also plentiful at this home! The only negative comments we can offer is the recommendation of some new nonstick frying pans, and electric can opener, and new chairs for the large table in great room, as several have the backs separating where they are dovetailed together….BUT WE DEFINITELY PLAN TO RETURN TO THIS INCREDIBLE HOME!!

This property was perfect for our extended family of 8. We had a lot of space for sleeping and playing. We only left the house 2 times during our 6 day trip!! There was so much to do downstairs in the ‘play room’. When the nights were clear you could see stars for miles!! The kitchen had all everything we needed to feed a family of 8.
We definitely want to come back in the warmer months to take advantage of all the water activities!

My family and friends loved our stay! The hearth is something to behold and so is the expansive layout. We will absolutely be back soon.

We are repeat visitors to the Flying Moose Lodge, but first time reviewers. I just love this home so much. I cannot oversell the incredible view and location. Despite being lakefront on a popular lake like Lake Anna, the several acre lot provides enough space from the neighbors to let you really embrace a different pace. Somehow the land across the lake is undeveloped which also contributes to the serene nature of the home. During our summer stay, the young adult kids paddled out to the popular “Sandbar” (close enough not to require a boat, but far enough not to impact the experience back at the house). Again, this a great home with everything that you need to have fun in every season!!

This house is well equipped for year round, all weather, activities and fun. The fire pit was great!! It’s bring-your-own-wood, but that wasn’t an issue and we had a great time outside well into the evening. You can see the water from every room in the house which is so relaxing. The kids loved the game room and were easily entertained downstairs! The shed is full of lake toys and though we didn’t use them this trip, we hope to when we are back this summer!

W. O. W. We had a fabulous stay at the Flying Moose Lodge! This house has everything, including a massive fire pit that easily fit our entire group. Plenty of activities for cooler weather (library, game room, arcade games, pool, ping pong, Foosball) the location is serene. Such a peaceful place to get away. We can’t wait to come back in the summer!

Cozy, well-equipped home. The game room in basement is awesome!

A group of us friends stayed for 4 nights. We had a great time. Place is well equipped and we appreciated the lake toys, kayaks, SUPs, etc. I brought my wakeboard boat and had no issues getting to the dock. That area of the lake is shallow, so highly encourage an app like Navionics and a depth gauge if you are motoring around. Was easy to launch from Christopher Run Campground. House was in a beautiful area with the opposite side of the lake being undeveloped. Lots of fun wildlife (mostly bird) watching. Game room is great, especially for a rainy day with lots to do. Would book this house again. Communication from Vacasa was very good / easy.

Flying Moose Lodge was an amazing experience. The home was exceptionally clean, beautifully decorated, and thoughtfully designed with fun games throughout the house. The view and accessibility to the lake was awesome. Tons of kayaks/floaties to choose from and just minutes away from the sand bar. Would definitely love to stay again!

Big, beautiful home, perfect for our family vacation. Great game room, I think the adults enjoyed it as much as the kids did. We had a great time fishing off the dock and paddling around on the canoes.
5.0 / 5.0
We had a wonderful time at the Flying Moose Lodge. So many activities are available for all age ranges and for rain or shine! Anything we could have wanted was at the house. The owner has thought of everything. It is absolutely stunning — the fireplace! Plenty of room for multiple families and the kids’ room was a real fan favorite. We can’t wait to visit again. I cannot recommend this house more highly! Run don’t walk to reserving your spot in this beautiful Lake Anna home.
