Fabulous cottage in ideal location, very clean, everything you need, 5min walk to the village and beach. The woodland garden is lovely to sit outside, however we were not expecting it to be a shared garden with the adjoining cottage. Description just says secluded garden not shared.

Midwood Cottage was perfect for our stay. The property was well equipped, very clean, very nicely furnished & in a quiet location. Having a lovely garden to sit out in and a parking space was great - both rare for holiday lets in Alnmouth. The host Christine was excellent with communications & provided lots of helpful information about places to visit, eat etc. There were lovely additional personal touches on arrival & a thoughtful welcome tray which was much appreciated & made us feel welcome! I can't praise the host or recommend the property highly enough.

Probably the best accommodation we’ve ever stayed in
Unreservedly recommended; most hospitable hosts we’ve come across in over 30 years. Cottage was beautifully prepared and equipped. Everything we wanted. Worth going just for the homemade cake.

A little gem
The cottage is beautifully presented, with loads of yummy goodies. An ideal base for visiting some of the most famous and beautiful places in Northumberland, such as Hadrians Wall, Holy Island, Bamburg Castle, Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Cragside, Howick Hall Gardens and wonderful walks taking in some of the glorious sandy beaches such as Warkworth and Bedle Bay. For such a small village, Alnmouth packs a punch for its charm and pubs providing excellent food. The pride that Christine and Louise have for Midwood shows in every way, and rightly so.

Comfortable & Well Equipped Cottage
Great central location for exploring the coast and Alnwick. Great pub (Sun) is an easy crawl down the road in the town.
Copious information provided for all aspects: getting there; how equipment works; where to visit; where to eat; etc. Owners made personal friendly contact.
Much better experience than the norm...idea for a romantic duo.

Homely Cottage which is perfect for a couple seeking a relaxing break in a good location
Lovely spotlessly clean Cottage. We felt at home as soon as we arrived. Fully equipped with everything you could need and in a quiet cul de sac which makes for a relaxing time. Perfect location to tour Northumberland and the Cottage is less than a 5 minute walk to the village and its amenities. Excellent choice of pubs, restaurants and eating places.
Very thoughtful owners who provide a wealth of information on the area and a very extensive welcome tray. Would highly recommend. We wish we lived closer so that we could visit more often

Excellent cottage in superb location
The organisation and communication from Christine and Louise is first rate.
The cottage is well furnished, is immaculately clean and has everything you need.
The location couldn't be better - Within easy strolling distance of Alnmouth shops, pubs, restaurants and the superb sandy beach.
We especially appreciated:
- The little extras that were already in the cottage for example the cake, chocolate, tea, coffee, biscuits
- The excellent clear instructions on how to use the shower, the heating and the lighting in the bathroom
- The comfortable and decent sized bed
- The recommendation for the best pub in town (The Red Lion) - Good beers, good choice of wine, very good food - Make sure you book the restaurant in the pub as both the bar area and the restaurant get very busy
We would also recommend:
- Bistro 23 restaurant in Alnmouth (only open 2 or 3 nights a week and need to book).
- Mumbai Flavours restaurant in Alnwick
- The street food shack in Alnmouth selling locally caught seafood and nice sweet potato fries - The guy running the place is a really friendly character who loves to chat and knows everything about Northumberland

Wonderful cottage in great location
We loved this fantastic holiday cottage. It is in a lovely private location in Alnmouth. We could walk to the beach and the village, and the bus stop was just at the end of the drive. We used the bus to visit Warkworth, Alnwick and Berwick, all great places to see with Castles and historical sights. It was so peaceful and relaxing in the cottage we would love to visit again. The Cottage is sparklingly clean with everything you could possibly need. The welcome tray on arrival was a lovely surprise, thank you very much.

It was a nice quiet location but within easy walking distance of the local pubs, restaurants and the beaches. I would thoroughly recommend this property .

Fabulous Cottage
What a welcome to this wonderful cottage tucked away in lovely garden.
We have stayed in many cottages both in the UK and Europe but we have never had a welcome pack like the one we received at Midwood Cottage.
The cottage was very well appointed to cater for all our needs and can easily understand the Gold Star rating.
Lovely garden to relax in with a glass of wine from the welcome pack.
Having grandchildren it was pleasant to see the children from the cottage next door enjoying the tree house and monkey swing that is provided for them.
We shall return to explore the lovely area around Alnmouth.

A great cottage & location to stay in the beautiful Northumberland.
So pleased I chose to stay in Midwood Cottage in Alnmouth! It is a lovely cottage which is clean with modern fittings and furnishings. The owners were very welcoming with a personal touch from the moment the booking was made! On arrival the cottage was clean & it immediately felt homely. A lovely surprise to find a welcoming card & gifts from the owners too!
The cottage is set back off the road & we found it very peaceful. It is only 5 or so minutes walk to the beach & being able to walk out along the coast in the evening was fantastic. Definitely made the right decision to base ourselves in Alnmouth rather than being more inland.
I would expect the cottage to not be as quiet if guests were staying in the adjoining lodge but for our mid season stay it was fantastic!
Thank you

Home from home
We've just returned from a lovely New Year's break in the cottage and weren't disappointed by our first visit to the area.
We were made to feel welcome before we set off with great communication and recommendations from Christine and Louise. This was reaffirmed by a generous welcome pack and even a Christmas tree when we arrived at the cottage in the evening.
The cottage is in a great location with a very short walk to the village's main road, shops and pubs. The beach is gorgeous and is part of a lovely circular walk past the estuary and back to the cottage. Alnmouth is really well placed for exploring the local area and we felt it had just the right balance of peace, but things to do. We met some really friendly people during our visit and even joined locals in a dip in the sea on New Years Day!
The cottage was really comfortable, modern and had everything we needed during our stay. It very much felt like a home from home. There is a large garden at the back from where you could sit and look towards the estuary and great play facilities for children. The garden is shared, but we both commented on how you couldn't hear the visitors in the adjoining lodge. If there were children in the treehouse they would be able to see into the kitchen, but there are good blinds to ensure privacy and we were out everyday so didn't find this a problem. We'd definitely recommend the cottage to others.
