Their ice machine was beeping very loudly right out side our room. I called front desk but they couldn’t figure it out. So after three hrs of listening to it I went and looked at it myself and opened it up, flipped a switch and stopped the beeping myself. Overall, nice, comfortable beds and pretty clean rooms.

Check-in was terrible. First, my reservation had been cancelled and I didn't do it. Second, I asked if I could check-in early and they said it would cost $25. Do I came back later and had to rebook thru the website to get a room.

Great position. Plenty of free parking. Good service.

Sheets of paint falling from the ceiling in the bathroom. Wads of hair stuck to the shower walls.

The room was dirty. Drugs were smelt. The room stunk. The service did not speak English and could barely understand it. We didn’t stay we immediately checked out. The bed looked like it you could see the bed bugs crawling on it

This was not my first stay at the Metropolitan. I choose this motel for the price and the convenience of being able to walk to the Salt Palace. This year the motel seemed more rundown than last year, the mattresses were new and comfortable last year, but lumpy and hard this year. Housekeeping does a great job with what they have to work with. It's still a great value, and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

I was here just for a night & the hotel was nice, comfortable, also very close to great locations to enjoy in slc.

Not a nice place to stay for an extended trip
2.9
Attentive staff. Close to restaurants. Reasonably close to Temple Square. Smoking on outside stairs not permitted, but saw 2 people doing it anyway.
2.9
Perfect location in downtown SLC. The property is older, needs some sprucing up on the exterior, but room interiors are nice, clean, and the value vs. price is excellent.
2.9
The room itself is pretty good especially the bed. The only reason I took off stars was their extension procedure/ policy and no outlets by the bed. You have to use 1 by the door since the bathroom outlet didn’t work

The staff presume you will be a problem, and by their presumptions generate problems where none would otherwise exist.
There are reasons to come to this motel anyway. If you know them, this won't matter. It's a strange game of plausable deniability cat-and-mouse between the staff and most of the clientele. But it's fascinating to watch, esp on the weekends.

Property is very old and in need of updating. Bathroom was gross. We didn’t dare use the shower. Elevator was sketchy. Seems like the hotel also has some longer term tenants that were a little off putting
Staff was very nice and helpful.

I am deeply disappointed with this hotel and hotel.com. Since I am traveling around the US,the journey is always long. I booked a room at midnight and arrived at the hotel at 6 AM, but the front desk told me I could not check-in at that time because it was past midnight. At that time, I was very tired and did not argue about this issue; I paid for another room on the spot. After I woke up from a nap, I started to resolve this issue. The front desk told me that I could not check-in after midnight. I pulled up the hotel's booking page and showed it to him. He clearly saw that there was no mention of the latest check-in time during the booking process. Then he began to argue that all hotels are like this, not allowing check-in after midnight, which is really funny because it was my first time encountering such a situation. He emphasized that the confirmation email he sent me contained the latest check-in time. I asked him why these rules were not placed on the booking page for guests to see in advance. I also have another question: If the hotel does not accept check-ins after midnight, why did it allow me to book the room at midnight?
Hotel.com also failed to handle this matter properly. Their customer service kept making excuses, earning enough commission while allowing such unfair things to happen. In their eyes, the rights of tourists are worthless.

I like the hotel it was good

The hotel room was older building needs remodeling, room was hot took awhile for AC to kick in, amd just dint look safe
2.9
Sink had a slow drip and the toilet kept running water but the room was clean and the bed was so comfy! The staff was also very friendly and helpful
2.9
The place was clean and for the price you get what you pay for. The staff seemed like they were day 1 of training. 2 beds for 1 night seems easy enough to me but it took 3 tries including being assigned the wrong room and having to move. The clincher was the unexpected cash only deposit. Made it seem like a hooker motel. Definitely not a repeat.
2.9
The drawback to this hotel is only one outlet in the hallway. No trees to shade your car so if it’s summer put a visor in your window but it’s still going be a hot car anyway. Staff are very friendly but the deposit and procedures for extending are why I knocked off points. The room itself especially the bed is great so if you’re not extending and you don’t need outlets for your laptop and cell phone it’s a good choice

The rooms in this place are sooo much better then the outside. The staffs a little rude especially over the phone. Also, there aren't any vending machines on-site and uou can't have guest after 8:00pm or you may lose your deposit.
2.9
Free parking and downtown access. I could check in early which was nice after a long drive. Room was clean and above all -- A/C worked great! There is a frig and microwave in the room which was very handy. I was grateful for the ironing board and iron in the morning to press my shirt from the suitcase. A pleasant night spent at the Metropolitan Inn.
2.9
Good comfy bed, but a run down building. Did the job for a one night stopover.
2.9
Could use a renovation.
2.9
Not bad a hotel
2.9
All the rooms have outside doors in a sketchy neighborhood. With strict rules, About anyone visiting after 800 pm apparently there’s prostitution problem and a homeless problem
2.9
Terrible. Required cash deposit.
2.9
Old rooms but clean and functional. They provide the service you pay for: a clean comfortable room for the night. The prices are very reasonable.
2.9
Close the airport
2.9
Not clean!
2.9
They offered me a room (knowingly) that had no window curtain and after a day I had to go and ask for change. The bed and the sheets were smelling in both the rooms and I was counting when to checkout. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
2.9
It’s an older motel but everything was clean and met the needs for one night at a reasonable price. I don’t think there was any hot water from the sink, but we didn’t need it or take a shower while we were there, so we didn’t ask about it. I guess we could have mentioned it.
2.9
An hour before check out the maid service insisted on inspecting the room for damage and claiming the motel was going to charge 100.00 for blood they found somewhere. My son, daughter in law and granddaughter were the only ones in that room
2.9
Would only accept card for security deposit for room! Only cash! Was not carrying cash and they don’t provide atm.
2.9
The elevator, the lobby, the walkways... the start of a horror film.
The room itself was clean.
2.9
They required a $100 cash deposit in order to check in. No mention of it in booking the room. When I asked why I was told it is the hotel policy. If that is the case, it needs to be clear when booking. Who carries $100 cash? But they have a convenient ATM that charges you $3. We did get our money back at checkout but I don't see what this is for, as they had our credit card on file. The room was okay, though there were lights that didn't work and paint was peeling due to water damage. Overall not very satisfied with this booking.
2.9
Bathroom was so bad we couldn’t even shower! And the room smelt bad like mildew
2.9
Its a great place to stay at. Staff is very nice and welcoming but make sure youre food is put up and away. Attract some lil invaders but that was all. Other than that i slept pretty good!
2.9
I will never stay here, pulled up walked in horrible, nasty and the building was dirty walls, floor.
2.9
Not an absolute luxury place but clean and very nice staff and an excellent location. I enjoyed the stay!
2.9
The floors were somewhat clean but sticky.
There was a glob of toothpaste from previous Tennant in the sink.
Loud tennants all night.
