Enjoyed our two night stay. Excellent location, not too far from the railway station and close to the lake/promenade There were features of an 'old grandeur', many of which I quite appreciated. We had a very nice large room with a view of the lake and the casino. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom could have done with a bit of updating, but was o.k. One receptionist was really nice and helpful, the second was perhaps a bit 'off hand', but nothing to complain about. On arrival we were provided with a pass for free public transport in the local area. The restaurant staff were very friendly and welcoming at breakfast. The breakfasts themselves were a little basic, but I still enjoyed the experience.
I realised they do not provide a kettle in the room, so I took our own, only to find that you need a special Swiss adapter and none of those I had taken used previously in other European countries, Canada, New Zealand etc. worked there. They will provide you with a flask of hot water though at reception if you ask. Need to take your own tea bags, coffee etc.

We really enjoyed our stay, it really was in the perfect location. We had a beautiful corner room with two balconies that had spectacular views of the mountains. The only details we would add is that the pillows were a little uncomfortable and that the shower wasn’t the best. Other than that, great stay!

Old and tatty. Grateful for lift up to reception. Room tiny and old. Missing tiles on bathroom floor. Shower is antiquated. Pre booked breakfast CHF 18 or 20 at the door. Not worth the money. Nothing hot, 2 types of sliced meat andv2 cheese. Some bread, pastries, yoghurt, fruit. Staff i encountered were nice. Beware when you check out that they hit you with city tax, which I knew nothing about.

very nice & great value for money

Great location close to the train station, the lake and many bars and restaurants. Room was very neat and clean. Staff was super friendly and helpful. No air conditioning, which is not uncommon for hotels in Europe, but just be warned. There was a fan provided that kept us cool. The pillows were really soft and floppy so we requested extras.

I spent a great couple of days at this hotel - a very easy, convenient location in Montreux at an affordable price.
The staff were always warm and welcoming, and the room was comfortable for me as a single traveller. The bathroom could do with being updated but overall I was very happy with the convenience of the location (right across from the Casino with the lake just behind it), the cost, and a wonderful time in Montreux.
If you go, get the Montreux Riviera pass for free from the hotel - gives you some discounts on train travel (especially if you go up to the Rochers de Naye - the card offers a big discount) and free use of the buses.
The casino has a public pool (just a few minutes from the hotel) which is available to use at a decent price, and the walks on the lake are wonderful.
I would recommend Montreux and the surrounding area for a wonderful time in Switzerland! And this hotel was a great affordable base to explore from.

It is ok for what we paid

Classic hotel with adorably small elevator and multi-step stairs entry like you were in a Casablanca movie. Windows open up wide to view of street and glimpse of the lake. Friendly and helpful staff. Short walk to lake, restaurants, casino, groceries and shopping.

It is clear that old hotels can have their flaws but also charm. This hotel is howe er due to renovatio n because the sanitation us below standards even of a low budget hotel. The hotel is housed next to the busiest road of Montreux with in the night roaring cars and motors. The isolation is of 100 years ago thus bad for a good night sleep. Breakfast is with 20€ overpriced as it offers nothing more than a few croissants and coffee and some cheese and ham.

Excellent place to live. The hotel is located in the heart of the city and has access to so many restaurants. They have a parking garage and was easily accessible which made our lives simpler. The hotel staff were amazing and were always ready to help. They all speak English and are truly very understanding.

Absolutely fabulous ! We had a lovely welcome from Constantine at check-in. A beautiful suite to stay in with all amenities and very clean. A super brasserie on the ground floor serving excellent food and drink. Dani, Lucas, Chris and Elisa giving first class service and always smiling

It’s an old property and needs upgrading. The room size was good, AC was a unit in the wall (no central); no tea/coffee in the room and breakfast was mediocre

Great hotel! Unique rooms with chandeliers and balconies. Very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast, perfect location. About a 15 minute walk from the train station. I'd stay here again. We were there during Jazz Fest. Lots of energy in the air.

It’s an old hotel. You won’t find modern conveniences there. My room didn’t have a telephone or refrigerator. You won’t be wowed by the lobby or bedrooms, but it is clean and functional. If you are a minimalist and love only the basics. This is the place for you. The staff was nice too, especially the night manager.

The hotel is located within a 10 minute walk from the train station. There are two flights of stairs to get up to the main office, but there is an elevator, once inside the hotel the decor is aged, but very pleasantly done. The rooms are large. The bathroom in our particular room had been completely redone and it was beautiful, tile floors, tile walls, walk-in shower very nicely done. The hotel staff was very helpful and recommendations for what to see and where to go and dining options as well. I would say from our perspective it was a pleasant surprise.

Excelente ubicación, muy buena atención por parte del staff. Desayuno incluido muy bueno. Camas muy cómodas e impecablemente limpias. Detalles de mantenimiento en la propiedad, alfombras manchadas y algunas paredes descuidadas.

It's was my 2nd time stay in this hotel. This round, I booked 3 rooms. 2 rooms being upgraded and 1 room will very small and limited space. The small room even difficult to open my luggage. Nevertheless, it still worth to stay as very convenient for everything

The location is excellent, but parking around is horrible. There is no place to stay near the hotel. Breakfast is good.

Loved the historic hotel, right in the middle of the city, near to everything. Fabulous service, staff was very friendly and helpful. Will stay there again for sure!

Beautiful property!! The room was awesome. Much bigger than I expected for the price with beautiful windows and a very modern bathroom. The hotel itself is very charming. Location couldn’t be better - it’s just a few minutes from the water. We got free drinks on arrival and loved the bar that is there. The only drawback was that there was no A/C which would be fine with the windows open (plus the hotel provided two fans), but I did run into issues because the windows were so large. To have the windows open, you have to have the curtains open as well and we just happened to have a window where lights from other rooms would shine through. So it was quite bright at 1 or even 2 in the morning.

This hotel is not what I typically consider three star for this area, for Switzerland, or really for any first world country. Two basic issues: property is dilapidated and room 247 smells like sewage. It was either destroyed by rockstars in the 70s and never cleaned or I’m thinking pee party of some kind… Like Steele dosiers type stuff. Staff are professional and courteous and breakfast is decent. Feel need to be cleansed by both a firehose and perhaps a shaman after staying here though.

Excellent hospitality from the hotel staff! Not only did they have a safe area to keep our bags but the front desk staff helped with recommendations on what to do/where to go. Everyone was also super friendly! We also got free drink vouchers for the restaurant below (same ownership). The breakfast was amazing! The hotel ambience and vibe is charming with a mix of historical. Highly recommend for travelers who are looking for a charming hotel in a convenient area of the town.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. The staff were exceptional, and our room was comfortable for four.

Property is centrally located with friendly staff. The room was large, clean and basic. However, at check-out, a charge of CHF 50 to replace a lost room key was disappointing having spent a thoroughly enjoyable few days in the beautiful town of Montreux.

Centrally located and nice balcony in this Old and historic hotel. One down side during the hot days of August, no air conditioning. Has a potential to be a great hotel again based on its history, but the owners or investors will need to take an interest to make some serious remodeling and restoration.

A rather shabby, basic hotel. The location is good and so is the service.
