A fantastic stay in every way. The staff were highly attentive and helpful, the rooms were comfortable and quiet, everything is kept immaculately clean, and the dining and afternoon tea were wonderful (and I loved the American Bar - world-class cocktails!). The location is just fantastic - short walks to Green Park and the tube (through the Queen's passage, a tunnel just outside the front door of the hotel that takes you into the park), Buckingham Palace, Westminster, and Piccadilly Circus. This is my go-to London hotel.

We stay here regularly and find it to be a very good location, most of the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are to a good standard and it’s generally well maintained. We had an issue with one of the rooms on our stay and felt it was badly handled by the staff and we were told there wasn’t a manager available to speak to which I found irritating. Nevertheless the majority of staff are kind and welcoming and I normally enjoy my stay.

Great location. Traditional decor. Outstanding staff.

Great hotel but there were a few disappointments. The room we were placed in was beaten up in places (in the bathroom the wall was completely dinged up and falling apart). We requested a different room and were placed in a smaller room but there was no adjustment to the cost.

We stayed here for our wedding night so this place will always have a special place in our hearts. Service is outstanding and we even got an upgrade to the biggest suite at arrival.

Wonderful as always! Our home from home in London. The beds are incredibly comfortable, the staff attentive and the American bar does great cosmopolitans. What else does one need?

Beautiful hotel in a quiet street. The food at breakfast was very good. Had a martini outside at The American Bar, great atmosphere!

Room very clean, comfortable bed, but with the smallest bathroom ever. Two people could not fit in the same space. We had noise all night from the air conditioning or machinery on the roof, with strong vibrations. The vibrations kept us awake all night. Although we told the reception the next day and wrote to the manager, we didn't receive any response with apologies. The receptionist apologised and blamed the recent winds. For £630 per night, one would expect more. They should check their equipment after strong winds and make sure their rooms are fit for stay. For me, it is about basic maintenance.
We only stayed one night, but to be honest, I will never stay there again. It is about how the hotel chose to respond to our complain. I didn't need anything else but some apologies from the manager.

Excellent hotel off Piccadilly in St James. Traditional English decor. Very comfortable room and beds and bedding. Only negative……the bathroom walls need repainting and new wallpaper. Actually my bathroom had wallpaper painted white that was looking tired and peeling in spots. They do not offer upgrades or a free breakfast or two even tho I’ve stayed here many times. But a nice hotel with excellent value for the money in an excellent neighborhood. It’s probably. 4-4 1/2 star but still excellent.

Love staying at The Stafford. Could not be more conveniently located. Rooms are not spacious but they are extremely comfortable and well appointed. Staff are friendly and professional. The iconic American Bar is not to be missed (but I would not recommend the so-called Caesar salad).

Stayed in one of the carriage house roooms overlooking a small courtyard, which may get busy in summer months. Couldn't fault the hotel exactly what you'd expect from. 5* Hotel in central London.

We love this hotel: it is a tranquil place in a central part of London. The best thing about this hotel and the reason we keep coming back is the wonderful, attentive and low key service from all the staff.
We particularly love the service and the food in the lounge/dining room where Luca and his team go out of their way to provide a wonderful experience. The breakfast is the very best. Thank you for always making our stay such a pleasure.

This was our first time staying at the hotel and we had a lovely hotel. The staff are warm and welcoming. We had a cosy room with a very comfortable bed. It’s lovely to sit and have a drink in the American bar and to have coffee in the breakfast area. We would definitely come again

Tucked away on a back street in St James's this little hidden gem of an hotel is my favourite hotel in central London. I love it!
8.0 / 10.0
Hotel location and access to the Tube were unmatched. Lobby, halls, and room were well-maintained - elegant without being overwrought. Being at the end of a right-angle dead-end street, it was quiet. Staff were just OK. Not unpleasant, but I don't think I saw a single smile. I don't necessarily expect US levels of obsequience, but an occasional smile or pleasantry would have been appreciated (especially when a large number of the clientele are Americans).
Of note is the addition of a considerable ( I believe it was £30 / night) "discretionary" service charge on the final bill. I had left a tip for the maid on the bed when I left, and felt that a total £210 for our stay was way too much. I decline the fee. I'm not sure what's worse - a discretionary service charge or the more common practice in the US of "resort fees".
Despite this, it was a very pleasant stay.

Beautiful, very central to everything, will definitely return to stay here!

Small hotel with excellent service. Popular bar and tea room take away from an otherwise tranquil atmosphere. Mews rooms overlook the outdoor seating area which even in November can be quite loud. Great location. Walk to everything.

The Stafford is a lovely respite in a busy city. The staff adhere to old world service standards, always greeting guests as they come and go and helping with directions and dining options. The public areas are welcoming with a quiet sense of luxury. We enjoyed dining in the hotel restaurant for breakfast and the historic American Bar for lunch and late-night drinks. The rooms provide a classic level of comfort, however our room was very small. The Stafford is located in a regal neighborhood, just blocks from Buckingham Palace, adjacent to Green Park and within walking distance to the West End and Regent Street shopping. Overall, The Stafford provides a quiet, well-appointed home-away-from-home while visiting London.

Service was great but room was too small for the price. The closet demanded someone 6 feet tall to hang the closet
Room was kept clean and food was terrific

The Stafford is always a convenient and wonderful place to stay in London. In the middle of everything, it is quietly tucked away from the hustle of the city but just a few steps to everything you may wish to experience. The staff is attentive but discreet and ever so helpful. Every visit is a pleasure.

This is definitely a time where you get what you pay for! Top-notch service, exquisite, food, and location location location. This is our third time visiting the Stafford this year, and we will continue to use this fine hotel in the future.

From the door staff, reception, housekeeping, bar and restaurant staff, it’s excellence all around. This was my third stay and it literally gets better each time! That there has been very little turnover and everyone remembers my name, it’s like family.
Well done!

The hotel is in walling distance from Piccadilly Square, shopping, tourist attractions. Concierge service is spectacular. Accommdations are excellent as is the food. The staff is amazing. There is nothing like the American Bar.
