We found this hotel on hotel.com. I booked through them with breakfast/dinner (must of hit a button for dinner didn’t plan on this) was included (over 1000 a night). When cking in we told we needed to make res for dinner inside or out and time. So we took 7:30 patio. Arrived for dinner, was told we didn’t have reservation… after a fuss the gave us a table. Sat down (maybe 15 tables outside) they gave us water and then we didn't see anyone for about 15 min. They took our order steaks med. After we notice people who came after us had gotten their dinners, we had only been served our salads. 1 hour later after asking 3 times, He came to table and we explained everyone around us had dinner some on desert.. he said we shouldn’t be looking at what other people were doing. 15 min later: When The steaks arrived they were so rare I don’t think they cooked for two min. We tracked the waiter down to help us. Took food back… 20 min no food we got up and left. As we were leaving the head waiter tells us. He checked up on us and we hadn’t made reservation he asked everyone. He was condescending/rude. We complained to management, and they said because we booked through hotel.com they couldn’t help us. The prepaid meals were $100 apiece
So we lost the first night and had to go back the second. She gave my husband a glass of Champagne on the house. The only thing we asked was a credit for 2 nite din
We didn’t want to go back to same staff. It was a hard no.

This hotel, built in 1852, stands proud as a really great icon of classic architecture, situated in a place where it has a wonderful view of the sea and the beaches nearby.
Interiors of the hotel are wonderfully spacious in the bar and dining areas, And the exterior has spacious patios, gardens and a pool complex. The pool is saltwater and a little dated now, but is still a great place to lounge by
The buffet breakfast was good, and all of the food we had was of good quality. The restaurants are expensive for meals in the evening, rather formal so you can’t just have a lighter male, except if you dine in the bar. Our room was fine, but not huge. And in particular the bathroom was small, as with all hotels of this period, they have had to adapt the original rooms to fit in a bathroom, the ceilings were high and it was otherwise comfortable. The bed was on the hard side, but that is often the fashion in Italy.
Free parking was good.
I’ve stayed at this place a couple of times now, and I’ve enjoyed it, but perhaps I’d move onto something a little more modern for a future stay.

We liked the spa area and the hotel’s proximity to the Mediterranean Sea. Nice garden atmosphere on the property as well. I would recommend this hotel.

Only stayed one night in route to cinque terre, would definitely come back for more time at the hotel and lively town!

Great experience. I hope we can return again.

The Hotel was fabulous- set in beautiful grounds; great breakfasts; charming and helpful staff... only downsides are that it is up a steep hill or flights of stairs- so less good if there are any mobility problems. Also, soundproofing is not great between the rooms- otherwise though, we loved it!

This was our 3rd stay, Hotel staff are very nice, however a couple of items of note!
I truly don’t mind paying a premium but do take exception when they charge €12 for one Peroni beer, I don’t pay that in Monaco, I’m there for the Monaco Yacht Show.
The main restaurant was a let down not the service, again staff are a pleasure, however the standard of the food, was at best fair ish!
The €18 Crepes not even warm, pre cooked with a congealed source. Overhaul a 4 out of 10!
Disappointed!

What a beautiful hotel, it’s the postcard of Sanremo

Beautiful property that was walking distance to almost everything. They were friendly and extremely accommodating to our needs and helped us organize our transportation and even some of our tours. The wait staff knew our names after the first day which was very impressive.

Very nice hotel, clean and in great location. The staff is very friendly. The only downside is that once it gets crowded, you will not get a spot at the nearby beach ( a voucher is needed), at the pool or in the dining area during breakfast. Perhaps, it is better during off season.

Facilities and pool area were great. Staff is amazing .
Room is okay, however the bed (two single bed combined) was terrible. I did not have good sleep all nights because of the bed. Staff tried to fix, yet it couldn’t be fixed.

Best staff ever. Everyone was kind and professional. Comfortable room with amazing views. Best place in Sanremo

Beautiful property- especially walking out the revolving door that was a bit hard to push BUT the view once out is breathtaking. The outdoor pool was damaged in some areas and it was too hot (not refreshing) with no depth label. Food was great and staff was excellent. My bathroom tub had a half glass door and the toilet was small and low colliding with door. My balcony did not really have a view as it was covered by trees. Still this is a great hotel with a stunning view and would recommend! Loved the guy playing the piano and all the beautiful jewelry displays in lobby.

Beautiful hotel with lovely views, great food, wonderful views, options for tennis and golf, extremely accommodating staff. Would highly recommend.

After two days of terrible and very rude service I asked for the manager. Not a kind word from him. And the final straw - “we don’t need you”
He kept harping that there are rules and if I don’t like it Iu can “go away” but the intent was much ruder. While the rules are indeed rules there’s a way of communicating. This hotel management clearly creates a rude atmosphere. . As soon as I spoke with the manager the issue was clear. Other things that I would not have complained about were it not for the complete lack of respect and professionalism from the management include being told that there were no tables for dinner but there were many that remained empty and we were sat after pointing this out. Rude front desk even from the first encounter. Finally the pool area is truly horrific and requires a serious update.

If your in the Riviera this is the place to stay. The staff is awesome and the service is fantastic.
Location is perfect with great shopping and beautiful restaurants and cafes.

This hotel seems to be resting on its laurels and historic past but not in a good way. The pool deck is uneven and feels rickety. The wood floor in the room was pretty but very creaky to the point where when waking around on it, we woke up our sleeping baby several times. Coffee service at breakfast comes in beautiful silver (?) containers that are extremely hot to the touch (use a napkin to pour your coffee or risk burning your hand). Property exterior is peeling. Interior of our room had poorly patched paint jobs on the ceiling and nicks in the paneling around the door. Hammam in the spa was broken our entire 3 night stay. Gym has very dated equipment that’s practically unusable. EV charger comes at an additional cost. Front desk and housekeeping staff were helpful but the property itself felt very dated. We’ve stayed at several nicer hotels and this is not worth the price.

Pleasant and classy. Enjoyed our stay.

Hotel period grandeur and staff try there best but not 5 star in all aspects mainly due to needing to be updated. Pool area needs updating. Old rugs in reception and lounges easy to trip! Spa massage was excellent and spa facilities lovely. Meals overpriced. Lots of steps to road/ beach. Town unimpressive unless you like casino which is a 5 min walk and again in a grand building.

A grand, impressive hotel with excellent service and attention to detail. The pool is unique and is amazing to swim in. There is plenty of choice when it comes to relaxing by the pool, complimented with great views of the sea. Staff are all very friendly, every single member of staff greets you and makes you feel welcome.
It is an old hotel, and the room decor was a little worn in places, but very comfortable, especially the beds. We reported a problem with the TV in our room, and when it was confirmed it needed repairing, a replacement TV appeared in minutes.

Wonderful, rooms are large. Hotel room is large and we had a sea view. Breakfast is great in the morning, a must stay.

I use to say, when I die, I want to go to heaven. Now I say, I want to go to The Royal Hotel. Where old world charm meet new world comfort. If I wrote everything Tha I liked about the place, this review would be turned into a mini-series. I loved everything. Especially the top notch staff how should be rated six stars.

Beautiful old hotel within easy walking distance of all the shops and restaurants. Breakfast was a bit disappointing.

Excellent service and staff. Beautiful hotel, room with a terrace and a view. Wonderful!!
However the hotel could use a bit of updating, otherwise it’s fantastic!

Royal San Remo is the loveliest hotel in the world, down to every last detail. Staff is dignified and friendly, breakfast is top notch, everything is classy and beautiful. Expensive, but I would rather stay here for 2 nights than a week anywhere else!

Top level property with a professional staff. 5th time staying at this property. Always a favorite !

Excellent hotel with only drawback being the steps or hill from hotel to seafront. For anyone with walking difficulties or knee problems it’s not the best.

After spending a nice few days in Stresa we came to this place. The difference could not have been bigger. The property is outdated, swimming pool old, overcrowded, rude staff (with the exception of cleaning staff), room (junior suite) was basically a tiny room with a long hallway. What bothered us the most was the overall treatment (rude) the randomness of how things were done (or not done), how requests were forgotten. It all came down to lack of real management ant the arrogance of being in “a popular place”. First and last time.
(By the way, we already mentioned this - we got offered two tickets to some show, which we kindly refused. We left a day earlier than planned - and fully paid)

5 stars luxury well deserved! A lovely holiday, pampered 24/7.

Very nice and elegant hotel. Perfect location in SanRemo. One of the few with a pool.
Everything was great, super service all over, the pool and pool area needs an upgrade… I hope that is next on the renovation program ;)
Everything is more expensive than the rest of SanRemo but very high class so it’s worth it. We spoiled ourselves ☺️
