Great hotel. Have stayed a couple of times now for hockey. Restaurant has great breakfast. I am very surprised however that they charge for parking. I would expect to pay that at a hotel in a large city but Sydney?? Plus the condition of the parking lot is poor. Very hard to find parking when the hotel is busy and it’s very awkward with the small lot on top and most of the parking down a large hill behind - steeply sloped and can be slippery.

The hotel could room could have been cleaner and more up to date. The wallpaper was peeling in a few areas. The air system was very old and outdated although it worked well. There were 2 restaurants on site which was nice because the town had very limited selection of good restaurants. Many cruise ships come to this city and we couldn’t figure out what they did there because there is really very little going on.

I paid approximately $700 for two rooms for one night. Water damage in both rooms on walls. Bathrooms were old and dirty. Rooms and carpets were filthy. The only positive to the hotel was the pool.

We had a great stay. Only negative things I would say is the dinner room staff are very slow and don’t respond to the customer much. Also during check out. I was given a bill for parking which I was not told about till it was time to pay the bill.

Carpets in hallways on room floor 2 needs to be replaced due to stains and also smell in hallway when getting off elevator. Pool was great, checkin and checkout was good. Breakfast included was good, nice breakfast and great waitress.

Great view of the water, friendly staff, good breakfast and a great fitness center that over looks the water. There’s a nice pool with a water slide. We were there on a Saturday and there were a ton of kids enjoying the slide.

This holiday inn is starting to show its age and needs a renovation as we were on third floor elevator aea had some wallpaper done and you can clearly see old wallpaper under new wallpaper does not look good. Room bathroom needs reno and venting to keep moisture down. We decided to book an extra night and thats when front desk staff messed up our booking and had to come back from enjoying visit to louisburg fort to straighten things out. Went to room to find bathroom was not fully cleaned and no towels were stocked. Finally spoke to hotel manager who gave towels after showing pics of problems with room. Pool area has no lifeguard and very loud as kids are screaming while using water slide while multiple children sliding down slide 3 and 4 at a time. Hot tub stopped working after a while. On a positive note room had a great view of harbor and breakfast was pretty good every morning.

Great location close to restaurants and pubs. Only bad thing is the bar in the hotel and pubs in the area all say they close at or after midnight but in fact close around 10p… if you’re looking for a bit of nightlife I’d stay somewhere else, but otherwise it was great!

My initial introduction to this hotel was poor. I arrived around 9:10 PM on a Tuesday night to find that there was no parking. I could barely find a safe location to leave my vehicle so that I could go in the lobby and check in. To the hotel manager's credit, the hotel manager came outside and directed me to where I could park. He stayed out in the lot to help me squeeze into a parking spot near the dumpsters. The elevators at the hotel were a little slow, so I found myself using the stairs when I could. What really prevents me from writing a poor review however, was a server named Michael at the Crown Cafe and Bar within the hotel. This person made sure I was fed a fantastic meal (haddock with mashed potatoes), which was exactly what I needed. Whatever they're paying Michael, it's not enough. That one person turned my experience with this hotel from negative to positive.
