We had to change rooms because the heater was banging incredibly loud. The second room had the same problem. There was no hot water at night. I assume to save money and to be eco friendly. In the morning, it took 5 minutes to get hot water.

Two mornings in a row out of my 3 night stay I had no hot water to shower in the Putnam building in the morning. The water was barely tepid after letting it run for 25 minutes each time. What a waste of water and terrible morning experience.

Far walk to room. And the bar was over crowded. We couldn’t enjoy restaurant or bar. Always a big part of my stay. I won’t come back for that reason.

Thanksgiving Dinner at Goosefeathers was amazing and the kind man at Registrstion was wonderful. He comped our breakfast the next day -- just to be nice because it was a holiday! Unique hotel on beautiful grounds with amazing facilities. I highly recommend this place as a family getaway.

Excellent Thanksgiving meal at Goosefeathers. Nice hotel with beautiful grounds and facilities. The checkin staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great - we would definitely recommend this place !

We enjoyed our stay and had a better experience this time. Glad we gave it another try after our last visit was not great. We love the grounds and it is close to everything we had planned. Our room was very comfortable and clean.

Hotel has charm and style but amenities could use an upgrade. Breakfast was simple buffet style.

I was barely able to see the facility or enjoy it. We were there on a fall evening, slept and checked out the next morning. It looked like a beautiful facility for a wedding or any venue, beautiful grounds and convenient location.

The room seemed recently rennovated and while it was beautiful a couple things were off. We had two double beds and the "nightstand" between the beds was a table almost unreachable from both, no drawers either. Also, our friends room had a cushion on the window bench and a coat rack, our room had neither. Watch the floor in the shower, it was super slippery (our friends noted the same). That said, the grounds are lovely and staff is very nice!

The hotel and rooms were a bit outdated for the prices they are charging per night. Stayed at an Airbnb in the area for half the price and it was way nicer. Great location near Sleepy Hollow and the grounds are beautiful.

My review is the same as others, out dated, tv didn’t work, room cards didn’t work, bar closed at 8pm, the little convience store was lacking, lots of people shaking there heads. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Would not stay again!

Pros: Beautiful grounds. Close to Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow
Cons: Needs upkeep. No place to hang your washrag or put your toiletries in the shower Only one restaurant open and it is expensive and Cantonese Also, the restaurant opened at 7 PM!! Not enough parking!!

Room 293 in King Mansion is haunted. Yes. No one told us that about this place but we found out AFTER the fact! I ended up sleeping in my vehicle and my husband stayed in the room and a terribly disturbing night with very little rest. You should alert people this type of information before hand!

Great spot to enjoy local and quaint hospitality and yet only a 45 minute train ride to the Big Apple. We loved it

Very displeased. I booked TWO estate king suites. We ended up in The Cottage with one king bedroom and one queen bedroom. The king bedroom only had one facecloth! They charged me for two king bedrooms. After I went to the office, they did lower the price for the queen room. There is no signage and it was tricky to find the cottage, there was not enough parking, so we made our own parking spot. Walking around at night is unsafe, as the grounds are not well lit and it is very hilly.

Way overprice and dated

I was very excited to stay at this estate based on the online pictures and descriptions. When we drove up to the property, I was initially impressed. That lasted about 10 minutes....
First huge issue: parking. During check-in, my disabled Veteran spouse parked in one of the 3 handicap spots; after check-in, we left to do some shopping. As we were pulling out, a valet ran up to us and asked if we were leaving. Driving away, we watched him park a car in that spot. When we returned, all 3 spots had cars in them--not a placard or plate on any of them. Maybe not a big deal if there's a designated parking area for overnight guests, but there isn't-- wedding guests, restaurant diners, overnights all have to just park wherever. I think we ended up in a field.
Then the room-- it was ok. It smelled damp and the bathroom was only clean-ish, but otherwise it was fairly comfortable. But it was a trek from the main building, especially after parking so far away.
We thought maybe we could at least unwind with some decent food and drinks, only to discover that the restaurant (Cellar 48 or something like that) was closed for no specific reason (website said open til 10). We ended up getting takeout from the Chinese place, which was ok, but small portions and high prices.
On top of everything, "on the Hudson" is a stretch. If you squint through the trees, you can just barely see a hint of water. Not my idea of "on" a body of water.
So yeah--overall really disappointing. I'd stay elsewhere.

The front desk and Goosefeather…fantastic. Everything else needed work.
Breakfast was poor and the hotel needed refurbishment. They put effort into the conference spaces and wedding areas; but a lot else was crumbling. Our windows were broken and would not close.
Half the grounds were closed or blocked off; meaning we missed half of why we booked it. The center area was closed, the indoor pool was closed…not worth it except as a home base.
We also had an issue with the house-staff; they ignored the Do Not Disturb sign multiple time.
Again, props to the front desk and Goosefeather; but I wouldn’t book again.

Beautiful place and we liked the room. Stairs and no elevator to room. Our door did not work with programmed card and after several attempts they finally gave us keys to deadbolt so we could get in and out. While gone the door lock was reactivated and we could not get in the room and took over a half hour to get help to get in when we returned. Should have fixed our door or given another room.

Room was ancient and in need of rehab. Bathroom was from 1942 England! Three and one half flights of steps; no elevator, no bellboy. One and done.

We have been coming here for 10 years and the grounds are beautiful for a weekend getaway. However the condition of the hotel has really deteriorated. A lot of the pool chairs are dirty or broken. The gym had literal bugs in it. And the front desk staff has been very unfriendly about late checkouts our last two trips, aside from the one gentleman who checked us in who has been here a long time and is always very friendly.

False advertising. The tennis court, sauna, and indoor court were closed with no notice. The only real coffee you could get was during the breakfast buffet for $25 which closed at ten. The only restaurant on the property is Chinese food. The other bar/restaurant was closed. The buildings are old and not well designed or maintained. The pool was fine. Nothing luxurious but they had pool towels and chairs. It could have been a very nice property but not well managed. I’d skip it.

Property has awkward layout and the property is inconvenient and they try so hard to cater to a higher class but they don’t really have updated accommodations for $400 to $500 a night it felt like a scam , the goose feather fried rice is good and the breakfast omelette are good in the breakfast place

Such a beautiful hotel. The layout and property didnt feel like a hotel at all. Felt like you were in a small castle with beautiful grounds. The check in experience was so fast and friendly staff all around.

An oasis not far from Manhattan.

The only complaint we had was that it's very difficult and confusing to get to your room. Perhaps color coding the hallways according to the wing would help navigate.

Beautiful outdoor pool but it closed just as we got there on Saturday at 6:00. However we had a lovely swim in the morning before check out! Also dining Al fresco was fun!!

There was a power outage at the hotel from Friday to Saturday both pools remained closed to today Sunday so I lost a day and a half of pool time which I booked the hotel in the first place.
The staff was unfriendly and uncommunicative and emails were never sent in advance to let people know certain things in the hotel were shutdown.
