A well located hotel with very helpful staff

We're regular customers at The Dolphin, when visiting Swansea. The hotel is good value for money. However on this occasion, the staff member who check us in was rude and dismissive. Staff can make or break a stay if someone has never been there before. We will return again, hoping for a better experience.

Always clean and tidy. While not fancy or particularly handsome as rooms go, its good value for money and highly recommended.
3.7
Really really old fashioned and dirty carpets and walls

It's seen better times....

The trip was unexpected as Hotels.com managed to mess up our trip to Tenby, by giving the guest house landlady the wrong dates. So we spent our second night of the weekend in Swansea. It was bery comfortable and clean, but there were no fans or AC in the rooms, so we cooked after a shower.

A nice stay in a budget hotel, had a nice sleep even in a single bed, was very clean and tidy.
A few issues, the room was so hot!
On arrival the receptionist asked to take our card details because there was a 100 pound "charge" if the room was damaged in any, i dont remember reading anything about this at booking and it was asked in a way that made me feel apprehensive especially as the room was missing a draw, i took a video of the room on entry to cover myself. Despite these couple of bits it was a pleasant stay with friendly staff

24 hour front desk, convenient location and friendly staff

The stay was amazing! The hotel was clean and comfortable. The location is great, within easy reach from everything.

Was very close to bus station and shopping. Clean, tidy and basic needs. Walls a little thin as could here the people in the next room. Great Cafe and staff were awesome.

A nice hotel

Location very good if you want to stay in the city centre and just need somewhere to sleep at a fair price, staff at reception are friendly and very helpful. But this is a no frills hotel and although beds were comfortable and bathroom was basic but clean it does need updating and some TLC. But we were happy enough as we only need to stay the one night and it met our needs. Would stay again but only for a short break.
3.7
Reasonable price for the hotel. It looks like it's in the process of renovation and benefits from being right in the centre of Swansea.
3.7
Good room, the only downside was the sea gulls who were screeching all night as the window had to be kept open due to the room being hot
3.7
Ample for what we paid. All working & fit for purpose, though I have trouble with stairs & being on the 2nd floor was a bit of a job as the lift wasn't in action.
The sprinkler was hanging off the ceiling, but didn't effect our stay.
Quite a noisy room, being directly above the moving bollard but luckily I brought my earplugs so didn't bother me too much.

Stopped over to visit some friends whilst travelling through. The hotel doesn’t look much from the outside but we were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the guys on reception were super friendly and helpful 😊

I’ve stayed at The Dolphin twice for a boy’s night out in Swansea, and I’ve got to say both stays have been absolutely perfect. The location is fantastic with everything within crawling distance and the staff have always been so friendly. They consistently beat the price of the Premier Inn and Travelodge as well. My room last night was absolutely spotless and exactly what I needed after a night partying on Wind Street. All my mates stayed in the Dolphin as well and all said the same thing. Thank you Dolphin for giving us middle aged men a warm, comfortable, and reasonably priced place to sleep after our Swansea night out! We’ll be back again!

Would not recommend.

Only a short stay but the staff were excellent and the room comfortable enough for a 6 hour sleep - didn't really have much time to look around as I have a late arrival and an early train out the next morning but seemed clean, comfortable and right in the centre of town with about a 10 minute walk to the station.
3.7
NO FUSS BUT CONCERN WHEN NEEDED.
3.7
Very very tired rooms. Stained carpets. Mould in bathroom
3.7
I was more than happy with all aspects of my staff. It would be nice if there was a restaurant as at 75 I wasn't prepared to go out on the evenings for food however overall a very pleasant stay and I would stay there again.
3.7
Honestly would not stay at this hotel again
Room 217 ceiling covered in black mould bathroom mould on grout. Very dated.
3.7
Hotel was ok. No cooked breakfast & the car park was 15 minutes walk away, wouldn’t have booked if I had known these things
3.7
Pro's: staff are amazing, so polite and helpful, could not fault them. Location is perfect for shops/market and restaurants/bars.
Cons: could do with a refurb, rooms are quite dated with all the dark furniture. Cleaning needs abit more attention to detail, we had lots of dust in our room. And finally the TV bracket on the wall was broke so you couldn't angle the TV for a better view.
All in all did the job we needed it for as only stayed for two nights but would probably not stay here again.
3.7
Basic but clean and friendly. As a band on tour this suited our needs perfectly at a reasonable price.
The highlight was the night staff who went above and beyond and really helped us out.
Plus it has a late bar if you fancy a nightcap before you turn in.
3.7
The hotel claims it has on-site parking but in fact it doesn't. The nearest car park is a multi-storey public car park that requires a 5-10 mins walk. I was misled to choose the hotel.
3.7
We stayed for the weekend whilst dropping our Son off for Uni. Great location, perfectly situated for the town centre. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
3.7
Lovely spacious family room. Beds smelled fresh and were comfortable. Complementary hot chocolate was the best we ever had! Also, there were very friendly and attentive reception staff in the evening to greet us when we booked in late.
3.7
Poor breakfast. Breakfast cost was high for tea and toast. No parking at all. Had to pay for carkpark which was a 15 minute walk.
3.7
We booked this hotel on the web site information stating parking available at this hotel. On arrival we were told there is no parking on site, we can use the NCP car park close by . Very misleading
