Great location for Lake Louise. Hotel is old and does show in places, but nowhere near as bad as trip advisor reviews. We had a heritage room, this was clean and warm with 2 large beds, coffee machine and powerful shower. Brilliant breakfast the best on our trip so far, however the breakfast room needs a clean, the dust on the balustrades was awful. Staff were very helpful. No lifts in the hotel, no TV or Aircon

It’s old but I sensed that the hotel tries to supplement it. Amenities were okay and clean but considering its price I’m not sure whether it’s enough. I don’t remember any particularly kind or hospitable staff. The place for breakfast was dirty with bread crumbles and the like. Menu was very limited and didn’t filled up fast enough. AND there was no tongs for bread and saucers for tongs and spoons at the buffet table (I absolutely hated using any utencils placed on some cloth or wood things). Lastly I booked for dinner at the restaurant but gave me an uncomfortable table even though the restaurant was mostly empty. I asked another table but still not a good seat.

The room was nice and had a balcony. I ate at the resturaunt and the bison steak was great. The breakfast the next morning was fantastic too. I didn't expect it to be as great as it was. If I go back to Lake Louise I'll be staying there again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Deer Lodge very much. The room was bigger than expected. And the food at the restaurant was delicious. The service was great.

Deer Lodge was a great find in Banff National Park.
Peaceful and comfortable accommodation close to but away from the crowds of people at the Fairmont and Lake Louise. Great restaurant and staff. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel is little bit outdated because it’s ages, but the staffs are nice and work efficiently.

A very charming old hotel. It was very comfortable and an easy walk to the Lake Agnes Trail. Great breakfast. A little quirky in the room but loved the charm.

Nice, oldish hotel in great location(3 min.walk to Lake Luise, no worries about parking)
Super friendly and helpful stuff, front desk is open 24h
Good food in Deer dining and very nice breakfast included.
We had the room with view to the glacier with king size bed, considered to be upgraded( yes, with keeping in some old stuff)
I like that fact that it’s NO TV in rooms.
But blankets and comforters are kind of heavy and moving inside of cover
Overall it’s nice experience and rooms are pretty good price if you book it way ahead of time

The Dear Lodge was a very nice surprise. It has an old elegance with modern updates. Close to Lake Louise but away from the mass of visitors at the lake. Very friendly staff and good food.

This is a mixed review… positives: great location, friendly staff, clean (mostly) —- negatives: lacks amenities you except for what you pay (or take for granted) - thermostat didn’t work so it was wicked hot in the room (we paid for a room with a balcony so kept the door open all night to compensate though the screen door was broken so thank God the bears didn’t climb to the second floor :), no TV in room, restaurant was good at lunch but dinner and breakfast was a mess (buffet cold as heck) and the steaks at dinner were way over cooked as was the breakfast meat and eggs. Overall o wouldn’t stay again and wouldn’t recommend if you have other options.

A really characterful hotel with very helpful staff and a good restaurant.
We are new to requiring accessible support and although aware there was not lift, some stairs had no handrail, which was stressful.

Nice staff, good locations, 5mins walk to Lake Louise and hiking trail, an excellent choice if you want to stay away from the busy Fairmont Chateau.

Charming property in a rustic but upscale environment. Would have appreciated a room fridge but that is a minor quibble.

Was a great place to stay and with in walking distance to Lake Louise.

The lodge is in a great location, right beside Lake Louise. The breakfast is superb. The front desk staff was very unhelpful. The bathroom is somewhat outdated and the shower temperature was very inconsistent. Unfortunately the hot tub was closed for maintenance during our stay.

This place is fantastic. The building is so interesting, the rooms just right, the views incredible, the restaurant delicious, and the rooftop hot tub wonderful beyond description. We absolutely loved it. Very clean, nice bedding and bed, coffee and tea in the room, helpful staff. The only issue was that the hot tub was down for maintenance our second day, but at least we got to use it the first day - it is truly incredible! Also the restaurant is so delicious, especially the breakfast and desserts and the burgers! Also so nice and close to walk to Lake Louise without having to enter the parking mob. Stay here. It's the best.

Deer Lodge provide a very convenient location to visit Lake Louise. While the carpeting and maintenance is somewhat tired, there are numerous articles about the hotel that provide charm and add historical interest to the facility. The hot breakfast included in the stay rate was excellent. The absence of a television in the room was rather unique!

This is an older historical building with loads of character and things to check out. An easy 5 min walk to Lake Louise. Fabulous breakfast in a lovely dining room with a raised bar area and an outdoor patio. Great staff. There is no elevator and it has 3 floors so if this is an issue for you, make sure you ask for a lower-floor room if possible. I highly recommend this property!

The property was beautiful and the front staff was amazing.
We arrived fairly late to find out we did not get the queen bed that we booked but a double and a single. The room was old but quaint. We went for breakfast about 9:00. It was cold and not much for selection. The staff was terrible. We had to get up and get our own cutlery for table. We were not offered coffee, water, juice or menu. They seemed to serve everyone around us but just walked by us. Eventually we just left and got breakfast elsewhere. Terrible service.
The cost of hotel was not worth it. Beautiful grounds and for age of hotel they do take care of it. So if it was below 260$ it would be a great place to stay.

Got bumped out of the new section and lied to as to why. I want a full refund for this room.

We loved many things: front desk reception excellent and friendly, helpful. The proximity to Lake Louise. Housekeeping excellent. Charm of the old building.
The dinner of ravioli was inedible. That is my only serious complaint, that and the fact that I got no apology from the chef who stayed in the kitchen.
