When we travel to St. Helens/Widnes we will only stay at this hotel as the staff are great and couldn't ask for anything better.

Was ok. You can see what they are trying to do with the upgrades but bathrooms were still to be done and bedroom smelled of smoke as the perspn before had been smoking. Ash all over the windowsill where they had been hanging out. Main part of the hotel was nice but might off been better to close and do the refurb rather than have people staying.

We were particularly disappointed with our room. The bathroom had cracked and broken tiles, towel rail torn from the wall, extract fan not working etc. The single beds were the smallest single beds I have ever experienced, dressing table was very badly stained, chair was covered in crumbs or particles of whatever, decor extremely poor, tv had only one channel we could access. For the costs charged we would have expected a much higher standard

This hotel has been done up nice rooms, went to get a drink from bar at 2130 to find it shut four to having lots of trouble in there drugs etc, went earlier next night to find it was completely shut even restaurant for a party event, the hotel feel unsafe as they have lots of residents there hanging around smoking weed arguing till early hours I even saw one of them letting a dog out there car boot for air then putting it back in the place felt like a ymca

Staying for 1 night was plenty. The rooms have been modernised 3 years ago, however, there has been large omissions such as basic bathroom amenities which are tired and damaged. The shower failed to work at all, and when it did kick in, was happy to cover everyones temperature zone ranging from ice cold to burn your face off hot, and it does this all by itself. And dont think that even though you are on the top of the building that you wont get to hear the party, the walls are paper thin and the party will leave you tired with a disturbed nights sleep on an aging mattress.
Breakfast. Not enough tables made up. No one on hand to clear tables and prep for more. The chef decided to dissappear with absolutely no food left at the self service servery for guests arrivjng, and this was not even 0845 yet.
The reception and bar staff were welcoming and happy to help out and the standards of hygeine were as should be expected. Location is great too. Just be open minded when booking, its a clean room for the night.

I did originally like the non carpet floors but found it very noisy in the corridors with people walking and doors banging. I could hear the music from last night but that was not an issue .
A full mirror in the bedroom would have been nice. Unusual I thought not to have one.
Everywhere nice and clean and everything me very friendly of course :)

Stayed at this hotel before over the years, room was lovely, paid for a deluxe, shower in the bathroom was a disgrace, hardly any pressure, you had to hold it, mentioned when checking out and they said were aware already!!! Breakfast was disappointing, cold food, cold plates, had to ask for bread for toast. Think it might be used at present for homeless. Receptionist was lovely and friendly. Foyer area has had a refurbish and very nice.

A very nice hotel with excellent facilities. Staff were very friendly and the food was lovely. The bedroom was ok but in need of redecoration and the restaurant was cold and not comfortable but would stay again

Did not sleep well at all.

Lovely hotel and excellent value for money. Only issue was the shower was not working very well and we didn’t have to time to ask for it to be rectified.

Reception staff were lovely and welcoming and just the best

This hotel is being used to hose students and homeless persons. When we arrived it was full of noisy students and we could see guests smoking out of their bedroom windows. In addition to this there were people with clear addiction issues at the property vomiting on it. We were travelling with two children and the hotel was not a safe place to take them. We had requested a slightly earlier check in (30 mins max) to allow us to get ready for a family funeral and were turned down.
We did not even check in as this hotel was not suitable for habitation by paying guests.

room was not in good order. Only 1 bedside light worked . TV aerial not connected. Bathroom and shower were tatty and needed decorating. Drainage of shower was very poor . The lift button regularly failed to connect. Breakfast food was cold and not pleasant to eat.

there were no towels for everyone, there was hair on the bed, the shower was very bad and the breakfast was very poor.

Not a great place to stay, building works, unintrested staff and not exactly good value for money.

Very swish entrance, room was great, comfy enough, restaurant was surprisingly good, i enjoyed the open front to the restaurant giving very airy, almost al fresco dining. I was working nearby and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Food and service was excellent!

Nice to see the property being updated intetnally, my room was pleasant but uncomfortably warm saying that fan and aircon unit was provided. Shame the bathroom was dated. The new mini fridge in the unit was not very effective. The meal deal was great but breakfast was poor!. Overall not a bad stay but way overpriced.

Beds in rooms were awful. Hotel being renovated. Carpets were ripped up and renovation in rooms were very noisy early in the morning. Staff were very pleasant.

I have stayed in much better for less. Unfortunately I paid a premium but the property did not match my expectation. The breakfast was poor in fact very poor! limited choice. I wont be back. The room was ok , not the cleanest and I had no TV remote.

Nice bar area. Basic rooms, they don’t look like they have been done up for a long time and some of the interior decor has long seen better days. Shower was awful and struggled to get pressure. Breakfast restaurant was freezing cold. Not great value

Very nice staff and restaurant looked lovely. However, rooms are very run down - doors don’t close properly, the radiator can’t be turned off, there was a hole in bathroom door…general rooms in need of a update.

im led to believe it was once a great hotel, then it went downhill, it looks like they are trying to make it great again, it does need alot of work, the reception and bar areas are really nicely done, the rooms are clean and adequate, the staff are very helpfull and obliging, but theres something not quite right, managment maybe

Paid £99 room 24 for the night, breakfast not included, the room was so tired and full of marks. We booked as a treat we got a stag room than couples room, had a velvet head board and it had finger marks from last guests in it awful wanted to go home it was filthy, oh but Reception looks fantastic but after you walk past and into rooms area it is so dirty and tired, we took pictures it was that rundown disgusting. No info whatsoever in room about restaurant when I ask reception where’s info she said we don’t put info in rooms as restaurant is a separate entity!! Hello! The big board on the roadside says Hillcreast and Restaurant, Lift did not work. Our room was next to stairs door every time someone walked through it banged!! Put a bloody hush bar on it even TLodge have these. What’s wrong with you guys where has the class gone , we stayed at Prem Lodge week before IT WAS so clean, oh it knocked spots off your filthy room half the price. You should not charge £99 it was only worth £50 with a explanation that you are getting an awful room in fact you should show people the room before they pay shame on you Hillcreast I took pictures and the are on my fb page your room should be closed down it was filthy and tired and you really did not give a toss, close the section down stop ripping nice couples off, revamp but not on the go, have a look at the pictures tired and dirty so disappointing stop selling 3rd class at first class price.

On the outside the hotel looks amazing, the reception and restaurant to. The front of house staff were great, friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely but the room it is in appears to be a little make shift, as if it is something they only thought about.
The rooms and room areas we a lot different. The rooms were predominately clean and tidy, but with issues. The furniture is very dated, with draws that dont open properly and just looks very different to the polished reception. When we arrived they was a pile of dirty linen left on the floor in the hall way, and was still there the next day. Not a great look. At one point the lift was broken and they appeared to spend an amount of time looking for a member of staff to reset it, just ring a repair man! H&S would have been better served by a qualified elevator repair service than Joe from back of house. On one of the mornings it looked as if someone had been sick on the front steps and it took a little while for that to be cleaned. I think for £100 per night, they need to up their game a little. Would i stay there again, I dont know.
I do need to finish that the staff were very good and approachable.

Very impressed. The hotel's main areas have been refurbished to a very high standard. So light, airy and fresh. Put a smile on my face as I arrived. They are in the process of updating the bedrooms, but even though ours wasn't done, it was lovely, clean, comfortable and the bed was really comfortable, with good pillows. I had an excellent night's sleep. The staff were really helpful, especially the manager. We will be back.

What a lovely surprise to find the foyer, bar and restaurant all refurbished. Feels amazing as you walk in. They're still in the process of doing the bedrooms, but even though ours was not done, still lovely and clean. The bed was so comfortable. The staff were very helpful, especially the manager. It was a delight.

The hotel is going through a refurbishment programme the refurbished rooms are really nice, we had one that would best be described as tired!

Loved the quite room, sturdy floor and decent bed. Dont need to mention the hall and lift as I am sure they are on it. Lift was turned off in the morning and there was no clear signs to the stairs.

So probably one of the most friendliest hotel's i've stayed. Really nice and helpful.
I will definitely stay again and recommend it completely

Overpriced. Room staining on walls. Shower didnt work or at least i hope it didnt as otherwise dribbled water down. Yes it was a saturday night we stayed with other parties on but all you could hear was music blarring till half midnight.
Breakfast whilst ok was slow to refill with hot food, good job it was fairly quite at breakfast.
Similiar to other hotels, has a fan thats probably 15 years old and doesnt work even from 1ft away.

I stay at the Hilllcrest hotel
1or 2 a month.
On this occasion; screen to log car for parking wasn’t working.
On arrival I was told they would input details and I wouldn’t have any issues

Overall the night stay was good until I realised I had left an item of mine behind after checkout and called the hotel to ask if it had been handed in and it had not so a cleaner who went to my room after checkout had stolen it for them to tell me on the phone they don’t know what he’s meant to do.

Check in was quick and friendly. The free parking was great. The was spacious enough and the wifi is vert fast for a hotel.
The only grumble was my room was overlooking the outside seating area and the noisy guests (not the hotel's faut) could be heard loudly even with the window closed. Secondary glazing would be a cheap fix to reduce this.

When I walked in the room I could smell that someone had been smoking ,I had the window open very small room and I paid over £100 for the room ,the room was worth in my eyes £50 to £60 . I have Asma and had to take my inhaler all day sun.

I was only there for a very short time, in that period the staff were very friendly. The rooms are basic, clean and comfortable that’s all I was asking for.
Only complaint was the shower!!
